can anyone recommend a hd receiver for directv? i don't know if i really want to spend $800, is it really worth it? just moved and can't get cable, and tv is hd ready.

I don't have to much to offer here that hasen't been said already. I still have the KSW-100 sub. I haven't heard too many positive comments on the newer KSW-10,12,15 line, but this little sub to pretty darn good.
