choice tubes are interesting and fun. seems like I always get to a spot where I have to stop or I wouldn't be able to eat for a month. there are always tubes that cost more and once I would get the next best set I would find more that I wanted to try. even some cheapo tubes, economical..do what I want compared to the next guy or vise versa.
the next thing I started doing was wearing gloves like you would installing led headlamps. its interesting and fun when people share what they find and do with tubes and tube gear.
Iv only had one set of pre tubes burn out and they were very old, rare and a bit expensive for inexpensive or just any I could find. a u&6 I believe(I cant remember the number there were 3 letters or numbers mixed)was in the name or label of the tube...I ended up finding tubes from a shop locally which led to them teaching me quite a bit about tube gear to get started. They also have a good tech...expensive yet good and local. a few years ago I couldn't stop calling tubes bulbs...man they put the smackdown on that lol now after a few more years of learning and meeting others with tube gear it has been an interesting adventure....
One situation I find interesting is that Paul Klipsch used solid state for quite a few years. This and the ease of use has put me more in use with solid state gear lately. I still have a couple tube units I put in rotation every few months. Im hoping I can hold on to at least one until I move into a bigger house. I just don't have the room for any other setups in the little duplex deal I live in now.
Also these days regardless of what gear I buy I plan on keeping it. Things to buy and test is a bottomless pit. Iv taken a loss on fresh broke in tubes to receivers etc...

Klipsch didn't insert the vulgarity thoughtlessly, and I'm sure they have deliberate reasons for using that exact phrase. I'll speak for myself, I don't like it; I find it tasteless. It's 1970's thinking. In fact, it's 1970's thinking that didn't work even in the 1970's.
I already have a Klipsch sub, but with that kind of advertising it doesn't make me feel like I want to buy another. I'm just not the kind of person who has such anger, that I want to buy a product just to piss off another human being.

Another write up from somebody that has only read about klipsch...not hearing the item for themselves. Have a tech create the write up. The write up does sound very immature and not linked to knowledge of the product whatsoever. A desk employee
Regardless I do believe Chad has done a very good job informing the forum.

shoe goo. in a red tube. some walmarts have it in the shoe dept.
after you open the bottle break the toothpick in half, dip it in the shoe goo bottle tip and swipe it across the emblem, practice on a piece of paper a couple times and it'll be good. it will hold forever and you can remove shoe goo carefully if need be. it peels off like snot. it will hold forever
then order a pizza and have a cold beer
I have all kinds of 2 sided tape...from hobby shops to body shops including 3m...it sticks out a bit much...and don't like to stick to cane grilles

I used parasound a while back. go for it. use to be some great gear. just like anything else what one likes the next may not. I really liked a parasound pre I had about 10 years ago. wish I still had it. just keep the price down and/or test before purchase. the z stuff iv never heard of that I remember

Everybody that buys most of these Chinese tube units keep it/them unless they bought to test/examine or need money and a some people buy big dollar brands to feel cool. Yaqin offers way more for pennies on the dollar. Amazing is all I can say to the Chinese on their tube gear! And thanks
Beeker, I never though to that. I have sold several amps in the last 1 1/2 years but, kept the Yaquin. I guess that is saying a lot..
It is very interesting. I watch for the 10L I have for sale on ebay from time to time and have only seen 1 that was for sale used in over a years time. Never seen any other used yaqins. Even the music angels which are different although made and distributed by the same group are never for sale used.
I sold a factory stock yaqin 10L about a year ago to a local friend that wanted to try tube gear....he is as well very happy with it.
I have done side by side comparisons with a good amount of mid to high(not side by side w/ultra high end) end tube gear and cannot justify the price of gear costing excessive amounts honestly, just for the brand name. Sure McIntosh gear is labled in America although the internals...well I hate to burst bubbles they are near all originally foreign. Yes there are very nice caps to gold leads etc...within some gear etc..."some" assembly may be in New Jersey but nothing is 100% American and regardless I want to save my American dollars. I support our nation as much as possible and a line has to be drawn where the 350%+ markup is at...or the jabs the Chinese may make taking and making average people happy consumers and yes others have names going back into the 1950's+ yet again as the price point for the same thing for a brand name, well china gets my applause for such great copies.
The stock 10L is very good. With a good honest tech and few hundred dollars these Chinese units can be taken up a notch. Even before that better tubes(or a bit of rolling) and a good power cord for a couple hundred $ you will get a little more out of these copied amps and gear.
There is an American distributor out of Illinois that uses Yaqin and others under the name SILK that are made in china. Some of these units have some very low quality tubes and have not found as much welcome from new tube consumers who do not try better tubes to get what they would find better but there is an American movement with Chinese units. Also the negativity some people have with china has made this SILK gear from much of a warm reception.
Also the Yaqin/music angel direct online site offers some very nice high end cables to dac's as well as pre's and amplifiers.
I do suggest some tube rolling to get the tone a Mcintosh or the like would provide as well as a thicker power cable. If you may not like it compared from there a good honest tech can do a little work to get what $4-5k tube amps do.

I have an integrated yaqin 10L that has some mods with big power cord and some vintage tubes in it. Its crystal clear at idle as well as pause. Sounds absolutely wonderful with gobs of power and all for about $1k
Iv heard amps that cost more than homes and sure id love to own one of them to sell...
yaqins are a very economical and good alternative to the big dollar tube gear

A jubilee clone would definitely begin with the cabinet. If The cab is produced in Hope then no matter what you do it is a "KLIPSCH" jubilee. Without doubt a 402 on top with what ever on earth driver you pick still makes it a Klipsch jubilee.
It wouldn't matter what crossover you use its a jubilee without doubt. The same would be for drivers. For example, you Boxx have apparently tried multiple setups with said drivers and find one that works for you best at this time.
I say this all considering the modifications of at least 20-25%+ of the klipsch forum users plus others and their klipsch speakers with even as simple as a diaphragm switch in drivers to complete inner cab rework and driver swaps etc...within klipsch cabs which make the speakers and/or provide harmony to tailor the sound for their preference in material reproduction. Maybe another 10-15% using other drivers or crossovers within factory klipsch cabinets after driver or network damage or decomposition and still calling them klipsch.
A klipsch cabinet is the soul or the sole foundation of a klipsch speaker. In my opinion even a jbl or ev horn and driver upon the jubilee cabinet results in a jubilee. That may not be the best combo but it is a jubilee cab regardless. For example I have seen other speakers such as k22,k55&k77 with klipsch factory networks in weird boxes which I personally do not consider a heresy which is only made by klipsch.
I do find the title to this thread to be a bit outside the box. And with a jubilee it may not be found within the box. Although to try and answer a question from the klipsch forums own Boxx. I find it is what is outside that counts most in this situation. Although in this situation "what works best" in some situations are inside the klipsch box. Or upon the cab in the jubilee configuration.
The klipsch jubilee is very much appearance with the factory cabinet. Klipsch jubilee speaker if the cabinet is assembled in a/thee klipsch facility by a klipsch employee/s or tech/s and pass "klipsch" inspection regardless of crossover or driver&horn configuration results in a jubilee. A 402 or 510 horn undoubtedly upon the jub cab is a jub. Its all about the cabinet
A jubilee clone sounds like it may be/sound very bad. Driver and network are very minimal aspects to ever install a "clone" label. What works with a factory produced klipsch jubilee cabinet may vary very diversely which also imo is what a jubilee is about and what it was meant to be or has become regardless

Gotta mention as well the 2500 series pro heresy in my opinion do better in sound than any heresy ever made across the complete noise reproduction spectrum. They can push quite a few more watts than an h3 and sound smooth(and even better with a few mods)
And sound great with small medium or large tube and solid state amps without a sub with less effort to get the bass out like so many try with the original heresy to the h3
the 2500 heresy are a bit rare too apparently. I bought mine a year ago for about $450 then put another $400 in them. the 7962 tweeter is very good. The stock crossovers are very impressive too. The pair I have use 1/4 plugs in/out and dual fuse on each. cheers

the 2500 series cabs I was taught recently were made in china then the speakers put together in hope.
Interestingly the 2500 series pro heresy is rated at 103db@1 watt compared to the 3002or1 etc at 102db@1watt / these specs are off of my most recent pro heresy spec sheet for my 2502c2's which I have a few mods done to them as well. Great speaker for pa or home. Mine are at the moment right by the door to use for pa and hooked up for rear surrounds

Several of my friends who have been subjected to my recent interest in vintage audio have been bringing me items that they have been meaning to get rid of or gathered from others they run into who have such. Today I received from a buddy a pair of HPM 100's that reportedly "needed some work" so were being disposed of. They came with a 70's vintage Kenwood Eleven III receiver which is very cool looking, but which I haven't hooked up yet. When I questioned my buddy about what might be wrong with the speakers, he said he was told they sound "scratchy". Obviously it was the dusty receiver that caused that because the speakers sound really great to me when I hooked them up to the receiver in my office. Not sure what to do with the Kenwood. I'll have to plug it in and see what is going on. Still a pleasant surprise from a friend.
In a related note, I ran into a guy at the vintage electronics store I frequent recently. He had an entire pick-up load full of a wide variety of vintage stereo amps, speakers, turntables, receivers. Some great stuff, some junk. His thing is he is a furnace repair guy and he always inquires of the stuff he see's collecting dust (literally) in peoples basements and gets it for a song or for free. Then he trades it in on repairs and or better vintage stuff. Pretty cool way to fund his addiction it seems to me.

That also sounds like a pretty cool situation to be in as well! It appears to me since your buying a new place in florida your buying and sending stuff back to Canada. When you get beck up north the house is gonna be so full the door wont open. Sounds like fun though!Im not sure exactly what im going to do yet. the odd one will be a centre channel of some kind.

Your ready then...I would not hesitate. Iv heard my share of each in quite a few setups although not exactly as your presenting....I know for sure I would take it a little at a time and get the job done. I bet you just melt once dialed in completely.

I have read the thread off and on and can only say try primary positioning spot/s for a good couple weeks each to compare and get the best out of them. Try demos with each position from orchestra bafoons to primo blue rays as im sure your already doing... Bet it sounds great!

Its conceivable that they would mingle rather well if powered and crossovers are set up correctly. Very nice! Not sure what your doing here although I think its real cool is all I can say...

True...last summer on way home I was passed by a brand new vette going real fast in Tennesee...and it was raining...needless to say traffic jam about 20 minutes later for about an nhour...when we drove through there was about a quarter of the shell left of the vette...Id hate to say but my spot to make up time used to be ketucky...at 100mph it takes just under 2 hours with no stops...thru Tennessee its better to go the limit...Once in Georgia I push it a bit...florida its up to you...No doubt up north imo I stay about 75-80mph...too many smokeys...Im jealous...I love that drive. I grew up with dad taking us to Orlando(east)Disney...Now flying to tampa is cheap or easy at least from Detroit(Toledo Oh&ft wayne IN) area with allegiant air..so now days we fly but iv had to drive about once a year since 20 yrs old...

Not a toll road. Its all just drive. Iv made the same drive a dozen or so times. i75 does the job! It spreads from 4 to 6 then 8 lanes and back a few times down thru cincy then around Atlanta and a few in between. The mountains Kentuck&Tenn can yield at times with trucks or semis slow on inclines then wrecks or construction. Fun drive.

I love that link. Details of all different horns but that horizontal horn dispersion has always been an interest of mine. Jbl to cheap 80's speakers and others used that design. I'v never seen the detailed conclusion of these slots and direction of the noise produced out of them. Very interesting

Wow...I cannot think of the towns. 1 town is very small and the other has grocery and banks and all...They both live about an hour from each other. The grandmother is about 45 minutes from pittsburg and kind of close to wv...when going there you drive through wv for about 15 minutes

Her grandma is directly on a 2 lane main road running through a town with a brown in color ice cream shop only on the south side(very easy to find). Her grandpa is tucked away in the hills. I did find it the first time we went somehow. Now im learning how to get there every time is a bit different...you go past an old covered red bridge then go about 2 miles east of the town then curve off to the left...When her dad goes the granpas(his own dad/son) new wife drives down and helps them in...I don't feel so bad if his own high rank military 50yr old son(my soon to be father in law) cant find it lol
I do like it around there though...There is no law. And everybody iv met around them both all have good values. They both have friends that help them out so im not super eager to get around there too frequent at the moment. Her grandpa has a really neat pond we atv down to for my fiancé to fish. He truly created this balboa road then built his home and sold land on the end where another big house sits that another guy built...I did have a gps take me there once and we literally stumbled on it, I have no idea how. Her grandma had remarried a Carrol and they live/d and she still lives in the southwest corner of Pennsylvania...The grandpa is WV and its a zip that just changed and some new zoning quadrants of some sort were issued...
I take 70 out of Columbus Ohio east toward wheeling and neither are in wheeling...My own grandfolks use to frequent wheeling wv every fall for the dogwood then on to atlantic city. I know my way around there somewhat but gotta get the notes out of her car and i'll let yall know right where they are sometime soon. From fort wayne I can get to either one in right at 6 hours if theres no roadwork or night driving...we hit a deer in the dark near the grandpas in the dark and it wasn't my first...hundreds just standing in roads there...the most iv ever seen by far. And all the construction and fracking crap can make the trip long...Anyhow Cheers all!

Friday October 10th-12th I have some gear to scrutinize and/or test
