  1. What's your alternative speaker?I've listen to these at high volume in a open and expansive space... they were very powerful and sapce filling if that is your concern. I have a pair of Spendor SP/1's that I will be keeping to rotate with the new speakers. I had a pair of La Scalas and sold them because I was sensitive to the upper midrange/lower treble harshness. However, I really miss the dynamics of the LS -- they could sound more like live music than anything else I've heard. I may try to find another pair of LS, or maybe Cornwalls, but really would like something smaller. I am also considering Tekton speakers.
  2. Hey, personal opinions are what I'm looking for
  3. I did a search in the forums and didn't really find the info I'm looking for. What are your opinions of the new Reference Premiere towers for 2 channel listening? They would never be used as part of a HT set up. Crutchfield has them on sale right now and I am tempted.
  4. Oops. Forgot to mention: I'm in the Jackson, Ms. area Thanks!
  5. I have a pair of LS with Crites C125 tweeters and A/4500 crossovers for sale. I have them listed for $1400 on the local CL but will entertain offers. Here's a link to the ad:http://jackson.craigslist.org/ele/4689504039.html Thanks, Clay Also, I can email better pics. THESE ARE SOLD.

  7. 10 pages of negative feedback on ebay.
  8. 2 channel only. Got rid of the surround system about 18 months ago.

What is the distance between the speakers and the listening distance? Your set up gives me hope I may have room for K-horns if I ever have the $$$.
  10. Exactly. Sellers are welcome to sell at what they deem worthy without people jumping on their thread criticizing. If they don't sell, they don't sell. Thanks Amy. If I can't sell them at my price, so be it. I've seen people asking anywhere from 750 to 2500 for a pair of LS. For those who think I am asking too much, I have about $1500 in them. Perhaps I paid too much for them; but, to me, they are worth it. If you want a pair of LS and can get them for less with the Crites updates, glass tops and a new finish, then more power to you. If you wait long enough, there will always be someone who needs the money and will sell them for significantly less than they have in them. That's not me.
  11. Changed the title of the ad to reflect the new price. The site tells me my pics are too large to attach, so I've added my email address if anyone wants pics. Thanks
  12. I forgot I had this posted. I just posted them for sale @ AK for $1500. So, call this a bump with a price drop
  13. Well, far be it from me to judge without hearing. But it sure seems like the snakiest of snake oils.
  14. Those 1884 La Scalas are extremely rare.
  15. for sure... I am still not 100% committed but that would be cool if you could do that if I decide to go that way Hey Schu, the older ones listed @ $2k are mine and I am open to offers. Clay TY clay... I am still in the collating phase. I have some Original LS's around here locally. GL to you with your sale though ---------------------------------------------------------- still no text back from the CLposter Thanks. Good luck with your search.
  16. The bottoms look just like the photos on the Klipsch site. I guess they can be seen as a sort of stand.

  18. Hello room........I would like you to behave Lol. Reminds me of a classic Honeymooners bit, "Hello, ball."
  19. Only happens on a few recordings. I tend to listen at about 75 to 80 db according to my sound meter. May be simply a matter of the recordings. Dunno. I have a boxed set of Led Zep and the harshness is particularly onerous on Kasmir. I am about to re-do the room, so it may go away after that is finished. I've also got them for sale on the local craigs list, so I may never know. We'll see.
  20. Would using an EQ to bring down the mids do the same thing? Thanks
  21. I have some mid-range harshness in my La Scalas, which I know is a common complaint. I have been researching new speakers but am also wondering if a change/upgrade to my LSs would make a difference. I came across the daves fastlane site and their fastrac horns. Has anyone put these in La Scalas? And, if so, what difference did you hear? Also, I have Crites CT-125 tweeters and 4500 crossovers in my La Scalas. Thanks
  22. No bad timing, unless your giving them away you won't get people jumping on them. But if your patient someone will bite. I know you're right. Patience isn't my strong suit!
