  1. Great place!. Been there twice now. The have freegin' Lindeman's Framboise Lambic on tap. It doesn't get any better than this(stealing a line from the marketing geniuses at Pabst Blue Ribbon). Seriously, try a bottle if you can find it. Eric
  2. Thanks boa, did you know I actually live just a few miles from that place. haha. They had 2 there for the longest but the other just sold. That(2000 model) was the one I wanted and I finally scraped the bucks up for it and it's gone. I ended up tracking a 2000 model down on Audiogon for $100 cheaper. Thanks, Eric
  3. Anyone have a Rega Planar 3 for sale? With RB300 arm. Wanted right now. Eric
  4. I have owned my 4.2s since they came out. I've also been toying around with the idea of rewiring the guts with some quality wire. As far as I know the KG 2.2V is the matching center channel speaker. I've got my eye on a black beauty on eBay now for $75 and I'll buy it if I can get it for that. The matching surrounds are the KG 1.2s or even better 2.2s. Welcome to the club.
  5. KLIPSCH Cornwall speakers, 1 pair, finished in Cherry. Best sounding speakers ever. Excel Cond. $500/pr obo. (214) 660-4152
  6. That was unbelievably quick Avman. But just what are the benefits of the different ways to wire it up? Since my Klipsch are so efficient would wiring the centers in speaker yield a "louder" result to more closely match my KGs?
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been using 2 center channel speakers for quite a while & would like some input as to whether or not they are hooked up correctly. They are Dynaco A-10/V II's. I have always had them hooked up in series. Center positive from receiver to one speaker's positive. From that speaker's negative to the other's positive and finally from that speaker's negative back to the receiver's center negative. Is this correct? Should I wire 'em up parallel instead? Since these are 8 ohm speakers they should be running at 4 ohms now correct? What if they were parallel? Do I really need to drop the ohms on my 1050 to 4 the way it is? Hopefully soon I'll be able to track down the Klipsch KG 2.2V center and just ditch the Dynacos. Did I ask too many questions?
  8. Wow, I guess someone resurrected this topic from the dead. Guess what? Same thing happened to me several years ago to my KG 4.2s(well one of them). I invited my friend Dale over for Cajun style red beans and rice(not many people in Tampa have ever even tried or heard of this). Well after eating several huge bowls and drinking whatever it was we started drinking that night it happened. He sort of puked on the way down to the floor as he passed out. He covered the bottom corner of my beloved Klipsch with a red-brownish gravy-like coating. Has anyone ever smelled beans after a few days of being in the garbage? Imagine that mixed with the familiar straight-up vomit stench. What sucked is Dale was passed out and not waking up. I had to do something quick or I'd never get that funk out. We dragged him a few feet away and let the stuff dry up all over his face. I was more pissed now and NOT laughing after I really saw what a mess he made. I forgot to mention that I didn't notice the coating on my speaker. At the time I thought he only puked on the carpet so I didn't see this 'til the next day or two. Luckily you can just pop the plastic grill off of this model and soak it for a while in a tub of hot water. Came right off. Needless to say I gave Dale hell for a long time and I couldn't wait for him to invite ME over for food and tequila. "Hey man where are your speakers?" :-)

  10. Well finally after 10 years and thousands of cat scratches I must do something about my grills. If it was up to me I'd leave them off but I already see something plowing through my drivers. Since I'll probably have these speakers forever I might as well get this done while I have a few extra bucks in my pocket. Any suggestions? Does Klipsch have surplus items on discontinued models?
  11. I recently purchased the Outlaw 1050 to compliment my Klipsch KG 4.2s. I've only used the setup for little over a week and I am truly happy so far. I am not an "audiophile" but I do know what sounds good to me. Outlaw mentions how there isn't really a standard for measuring power ratings and companies are at liberty to rate their power at will. One reason their ratings are so conservative is that the measurements are taken from a full audio spectrum of 20 to 20 where other company's ratings may be from just a 1,000 hz cycle and not taking into account a real life situation. The only thing I don't like that I've discovered so far is the headphone feature. The Yamaha I upgraded from had the ability to turn off the main speakers completely. You can't do this with the Outlaw. I often listen to music very late at night with my Grado headphones(which I won't start raving about here but if you haven't heard a pair please do so). This is what kinda sucks. When you plug your headphones in it engages the headphone mode and silences the rest of the speakers. All good so far UNLESS the jack gets yanked out of the socket. All of a sudden at 3am your speakers will be fed a huge amount of power and your walls will shake. It's already happened once. Other than that I'm quite pleased. One thing that doesn't interest me are all the different Jazz, Stadium, Concert settings that are a total waste. This message has been edited by synthfreek on 11-06-2001 at 07:25 PM
  12. Why not just use a shareware program available just about anywhere on the net to convert your mp3 files to wav files then burn 'em to CD-R? It's free. The only drawback is you will not be able to fit as many tracks because of the extra space wavs take up. Eric
  13. I have to add my two cents here. If you want some seiously low bass(down to the single digit Hrz) check out the artist Lustmord. This isn't just boom bass this is some deep, resonating, make your house shake electroacoustic bass. He records natural chasms, volcanic activity & plates of the Earth grinding. Trust me it's more musical than it sounds. The ones to get are: Stalker-Robert Rich/Lustmord, The Monstrous Soul-Lustmord, The Place Where The Black Stars Hang-Lustmord, Metavoid-Lustmord & Heresy-Lusmord. This guy Brian Williams is a genius. 14. Ok I've got everything hooked up and I've demo'd a few things so far and all I've got to say is WOW!!! WOW again! This sounds GREAT. I've experienced the first 10 minutes or so of Gladiator, listened to a few tracks from the Dead Can Dance CD-Spiritchaser, FSOL-Dead Cities & a few Steve Roach CDs. It seems to be everything they claim it to be. Next on my list will be some sort of rear center speakers to take advantage of that 6.1. Eric
  15. Here are some great albums for all you Klipscheads. I'm very into electronic/ambient music with a collection of about 3000 electronic CDs. There is so much more to this genre than Yanni & Fatboy Slim. These are some of my favorites to show off your system but not only that they are good musically. Pete Namlook-Air I&II Global Communication-76:14 Robert Rich/Lustmord-Stalker Lustmord-Metavoid Steve Roach/Vir Unis-Body Electric The Orb-ufORB Irresistible Force-Flying High Higher Intelligence Agency-Freefloater A Positive Life-Synaesthetic Spacetime Continuum-Sea Biscuit Robert Rich/Alio Die-Fissures Steve Roach/Vidna Obmana-Well Of Souls Plastikman-Consumed Why not take a chance with something new instead of that newly re-released, heard it a million times, classic rock rehash?
  16. Ok after several weeks of researching and many many hours scouring the net for info & reviews I've made my decision. The Outlaw 1050 looks amazing. It is lacking a phono jack but for the price of $499 I'm able to buy it plus an audiophile Parasound PPH-1 phono preamp and still be under budget! Does anyone else own this guy? Very interested in how they'll sound with my KG 4.2s.
  17. A must buy is the Dario Argento directed limited edition numbered DVD box set of his landmark film Suspiria. One of the finest and most identifiable soundtracks of any movie EVER. Influenced John Carpenter's own music for Halloween. This movie/soundtrack(by the band Goblin) is one of my all-time faves.
