  1. Red rocks is what I saw. Cool venue and a good show.
  2. I believe I've seen them on tv before. I liked what I saw. I think they're coming to Phoenix this year and was considering going.

Last shot of the day. Anthem loaded in the rack, 1 of 2 subs in the cubby next to it. I've got some light automation and system hookup and calibration tomorrow. I'm hoping to feel better to break it in tomorrow night!

It's Thursday and goods arrived, including the flu for me. Glad I brought in help to finish this thing! Subs and screen! Projector installed. It's huge. Screen frame is up. It's huge too. A different shot of the PJ. Just about time to rack and roll. Now time for sleep.

Yeah me too. I understand up converting but my A/B in the same room with the same screen and scenes in a movie didn't sell it for me. Maybe I'm lucky that my eyes can't pick that up! I'm thinking that the set up will be just fine once dialed in.

I went with a Sony, not 4k but 1080p. We looked at each and didn't see enough of a difference to warrant the 2x price. Luckily if that changes I can swap in a new one. After saving my pennies again!

I used to build houses so demolition is easy. What I was really unsure of is what was up in the ceiling. It's a flat roof and I knew the trusses were going across the short span. I did have some help with the drywall repair. I have smooth walls and I don't trust my finishing technique! I will have a local company help with the install of the projector and having it set up. This is my first and I need the room done before visitors come next week. I don't want to get this far and not get the projector just right.

I am keeping the carpet. For now. It might get swapped out at some point but it's not even a pressing issue. Progress made-pics are a little dark, the iPad doesn't have great light. Color is peppercorn and it's a nice dark gray that matches a color in the carpet. Ceiling, walls, and speaker covers. Painted speaker grilles ready for install. Back of the BW speaker. 4 of these for surround. Front speakers, projector and screen arrive tomorrow.

The calm before the storm. Not a lot of big changes but 12 holes cut to run wire and relocate some outlets and now ready for paint. Going with a dark gray that matches a color in the carpet. All wiring run for Thursday and Friday when the screen, projector, remaining speakers, and equipment with rack. It's killing me that I can't watch a movie tonight!

Plenty of holes cut, lots of wire pulled, and a lot more to be done over the next couple days. Back wall Front wall, ran into some plywood behind the drywall. That wall was part of the original house so I think they removed the stucco and used it for the inside wall. Sides. You can see the side and atmos speakers already in place. Have to get the drywall repaired tomorrow as the room is getting painted Wednesday.

Today is the day. First shot with cabinets removed. Speakers and wiring going in today. More to come later today.

Thanks. The bulk of the work starts Monday with running wire and speaker placement. A compromise was made due to space and seeing a theatre set up with all in wall/ceiling speakers. LCR will be behind the screen, sides and rears in wall and atmos in ceiling. I will post more pics as I get going. I can't wait for the screen to arrive. It just fits in the space (height) and will seem enormous to me.

This is the AVR that I will use to drive 7.2.4 atmos. It's a pretty nice unit and I've not even spent 30 mins messing with it yet.

I removed the front shelves and crown moulding as the new screen will be much larger. Here is the room cleared out, drywall patched, and a tape outline of the screen. I've got a 123" Stewart Filmscreen unit that will be here later this week.

I removed the wallpaper and it came down pretty easily with minimal damage to the walls. Funny, I'm no paper expert but I don't believe I've ever seen a professional job where they painted behind the seams! I then took down the screen and its surround. All screens are stapled to the wall right? As it turns out it wasn't proper screen but rather some off white fabric.

Ok. I bought the house in March of last year and have finally begun the work to bring the room up to par. On the surface, the room is pretty solid. About 11x19. Had/has a built in upper and lower cabinet/shelving units. The previous owner left the screen and 3 leather chairs that recline and nothing else. Room started like this: With beautiful wallpaper.

    What I Got Today!

I stood across the street from my house and they sounded great. Due to space the kg4 will be in my garage/shop. I will definitely piss off the golfers!!

    What I Got Today!

I got updated crossovers and new diaphragms for my KG4s from Bob Crites. Brought my 26 year old speakers back to life!

    Ya think?

I worked at McDs when it was reintroduced. Lots of complaints of bone chunks in the meat. But dang they were good! Maybe should start a separate thread!

    Ya think?

Mmmmm McRib. Sorry for the thread crap but c'mon...McRib!
  23. Of course, I move away and a nice pair comes up for sale!!
  24. I grabbed Interstellar tonight and it is labeled as Dolby Atmos. I was surprised because I don't think I saw it listed anywhere. <apparently this is not an atmos release but an error in packaging. Either way I was going to get it as I think space will be cool on the big screen>
  25. I've got an Adcom GTP600 pre amp that I'd like to be able to use in my garage. Bought it on eBay several years ago and didn't use it at all when I got it. It's noisy. Headphones or speaker output is noisy. It's a constant buzz. Since its been so long since I bought it and cannot return it, I'm open to opening it up and trying to fix. Any thoughts on where to start first? I sent it to a place in Chicago a couple years back but they didn't address the problem. Thanks!
