  2. Damn sorry ISP messed up and it did multiple replies.
  3. Before we got our K-Horns we used our Heresy with Forte I's.Had it on it's side, then upside down. Can't remember much of a difference.Upside down gets the tweeter closer to the highs, mids line. Was a good match, tonaly, with the Forte.
  4. Boa, Have you forgotten the 3801?It's the 5800 with 105X7 instead of 170X7 and no THX.Still has the DTS ES discret. I just found 2 more KSP-S6's and they are on their way. They will replace the 2 IW-150's.I'll let you know how they sound with 7 channel music. With K-Horns up front,2 channle is they way I go,but I'll do some listening and le you know. You know you should really let me have those Cornwalls before they go to waist back there and get some more RS-7's. Your speaker positions are like mine. Check out the 3801 and with the green you save get 2 more RS-7's and maybe a 3 channel amp for the front end.The 2 Denon amps I'm using up front really brought more detail to the sound. Use the Cornwalls(music)in each back corner and the RS-7s(HT)on the back wall. ------------------ My Home Theater: '77 Klipschorn L&R w/ALK's '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 5. That's the last thing he would have ever owned. Probably pronounced it"Klips".When would he have ever had time to listen to music, too busy "doing"other "things"!
  6. jonvan,It doesn't sound wierd.I've had my Heresy upside down on top of my 52"for almost a year. You were thinking right, gets the tweeter close to the same line as the others. Using the same speakers on all three fronts is a great way to go. My Heresy didn't match tonaly close enough to my K-Horns,so I found a K-Horn squawker and made a few mods. It's perfict now.
  7. Nope,I didn't get them. They were gone when I went back to check on em.
  8. The coat hanger was used for digital coax. From what I've read,it worked.
  9. Boa,The Denon manual dicuses using surround L&R and back and the use of dipolar, bipolar speakers. They have a"wide screen"mode that they say makes a 7.1 using surround back speakers, works the same way as having 2 sets of side surrounds. This I know is on the 3801,4800 and 5800,and I think maybe the 3300(not real sure about that one). The KSP-S6's do the same as speaker arrays do.That's the idea behind WDST. But if one wants to use direct radiating speakers then 2 along each wall wil work very nicely.Even with just a couch in the Klipsch HT all those Heresy's would have worked great.Makes for better fill in the rear. You would have had to be there. If green is not a problem, then more is better to a certian point.IMHO
  10. Q-man,you'd have to be the judge of that. They are not out yet and we heard the prototypes.I'm keeping my Horns(that's what my wife has instructed). Marty,B&K 4430 amp(200X3)and 4090 B&K pre-amp.I had forgotten what Klipsch and B&K could do.I'm glad I got to experiance it.Wonderful sound.B&K uses Mosfet(?spelling)and is tube like in sound, but a little lean in the bass end.Still we were not in want of a sub.
  11. These are the Heresy surrounds used at the Klisch HT.Can't remember the room size.26 or so feet deep(more?)and 17 or so wide. There are 8 Heresy's,2 on each side,2 ineach corner and 2 across the back wall. They are wired left and right and are wired in a way that they are about an 8ohm load. The rears are where they split to L&R.Sound?Great!s> As can be seen in the photos, one Heresy is a bit forward of the center of the room. The K-Horns were not being used in the surround channels. Seating starts about half way. This room was a wonderful sounding experience and is the Klipsch factory Home Theater.Man I'd love to be able to duplicate it.I'll just live with what I have. The pre outs for the surrounds will drive an amp and with the same signal the surround speaker outs are delivering.I use the pre-outs to drive my surround sub.
  12. Curious about the"Blind Melon"thing!? I've discovered that when talking Heritage, that most salespersons are LOST IN SPACE! Why not use an LS for the center or is it for music. A friend uses an LS between his Horns for HT and it's a perfict tonal match.
  13. Was doing some research for a friend and discovered that the LS and Cornwall are almost identical in height and width. The LS is deeper. The one thing I discovered was,I believe,is that the Cornwall and Heresy would be an almost perfect match as mains and center for an HT.They cross over at almost the same and the squawker size appears to be almost the same.Tonal balance should be right on. SPL is also very close,98.5 to the Heresy's 96. Yes please bring the Cornwall back, please, please,s>please!s> The pair at Paul and Valerie's home are wonderful and beautiful!I had forgotten how big they were.
  14. erik, My room is 15.5 X 26 with the couch in the middle of the room.I was lucky when the house was being put together(double wide)and ran the surround wire before they finished the inside.I put 2 wall plates in and evrything worked out great. I'd bring the wire out at about 6 1/2 feet from floor level. The rule of thumb is 6'to the bottom of the surround speaker. There is a rule about how high above ear level the tweeter should be,but can't remember it(36 to 39 inches maybe). Your speakers won't be too far from the setting area,if that's what you were wondering. I just noticed that you said rear speakers.I was talking about the side surrounds. My back rear centers are about 13' from my couch and work fine. Here is a thought!Run a wire(in wall type)in each side wall where the seating will be and run a wire to where you might put 2 rear center speakers, just in case you upgrade to 6.1 or even 7.1 in the future.Unless you are doing that now.
  15. The 3801 manual says you can use A+B surrounds. Page 19 in the 4800 manual shows that can be done also(I down loaded it some time back) jonvan, are you using the 5200 to drive the front mains? Most do. You don't need an extra amp, just set the internal amps to drive the side surrounds and add the new ones to the B surrounds. IMHO Steve
  16. Doesn't the 4800 have A and B surround speaker outs? The 5800 and 3801 do. Anyway if you want to do it the way you are thinking, just run the new amp from the surround pre-outs. If you have the A/B speaker setup, the 4800 will handle the 4ohm load that 4 speakers will create.
  17. Doug,I'm sure glad I was not one of those in the picture.I don't do pools!!!s>
  18. Just sold them without thinking. My wife loved them, but didn't tell me till after I let them go. Will never do that agian. Paid $250 in '94 I think and sold them in '98.Stupid.
  19. this link for willjam works http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/willjam_99 Yes it was an experiance that will live forever. I went to CES this year and this was beyond my wildest dreams. I think we were thanked as much as we thanked! Becky and I will never forget any of it. We will never forget meeting the friends we have made on this BB.Wonderful bunch of people.
  20. Believe it or not I had a pair of KG-4's that had 4ohm labeled on them.Drove them hard with an amp that wasn't supposed to work well with a 4 ohm load. You should be fine.
  21. The Denon 3801 will do if you have a limit on how much to spend. ColaBear's set-up sounds like something that will work for you! ------------------ My Home Theater: '77 Klipschorn L&R '75 Heresy center, modified with K-Horn sqauwker & AA network.
