  1. REDUCED folks I am cleaning out what I do not want and price is reduced to $350 includes shipping to lower 48. Read the specs this is not junk.
  2. Experience is a good teacher and I guess there is one way to find out who is right.
  3. Limited editions mean only ones in pristine unaltered condition make the $$$ grade. ANY changes harm value and this is how the OP is being talked into these I believe. Believe me after selling dozens of sets of Heritage speakers I can tell you that buyers pick on any cabinet alteration or damage and hammer you to death over them. If you are buying these just for sound ones in top shape are selling for $2000 to $2300 according to a guy who tracks these things here and have no damage. Might not be a bad idea to lay these things down corner by corner and flow glue onto them just in case.
  4. Sorry but this is not wood. It is MDF. You buy these better make sure you are happy with them because the damage will never be fully repairable and you will work hard to find anyone who will pay top $$ for damaged speakers if you decide to sell. What you don't know with shocks like this is what other cabinet damage is there such as popped glue joints. All I can say is that this just made the other ones with no damage hold better value and the idea being presented that these are potential collectibles is for top condition ones ONLY. Run do not walk away from these.
  5. Wouldn't matter since all I get is ATT's really super crappy DSL and they cap it at 75 to 83kbs upload download speeds at best. They are worthless pieces of ---- in my book and I can't begin to express here my utter contempt and loathing for the pathological liar running that outfit.
  6. Seriously are you looking for plans? MWM and SMWM are out there. There is also a ton of other builds at http://diyaudioprojects.com/
  7. Right and it will sound fabulous on ear buds and PC speakers
  8. You will love them. Best advice is still to hear someones setup first although few of us really elect to do that. Building these is worthwhile and since I doubt you have any close to hear building will save you $$$.
  9. That is exactly why I like the K-43's over the 33's. Double the wattage capacity too so they just loaf along at any level you can stand.
  10. I think this is known as cosmic retribution. You are one of the people that started me down this path so it is only right that I have done something of value to you in return. Have I told you how filthy those speakers looked in the pictures yet?
  11. YES so fond of all these new fangled things. It will be OK once I get through it all at least once. First is the struggle with foreign logic and then one day it all clicks and off you go. It is quite frankly beginning to sound really nice and I know it is not where it should be yet. I think threads that ramble at times are informative and or amusing so have at it. I elected to use the brown Duratex precisely for cleaning. Every once in a while a vacuum and brush nozzle is all it will ever get and what dirt is there does not show up like it does on black. PLUS if I let it all get dirty and never clean it the appearance will still be uniform.
  12. So true. I had a set of Forte II's which sold last Sunday. The guy came over and he saw the S-MWM and the reworked rebuilt LSI's. I told him he could listen to them AFTER he made the decision to buy or not buy the Forte's. Those Forte's were sweet sounding speakers as much as the little bitty things could be by comparison. Before I fired the big boys up I told him it was not an attempt to up sell him since they weren't for sale. He left happy with his Fortes and amazed at the larger sound stage which he admired but did aspire to have.
  13. Hey keep watching he will probably sell them off in a few months
  14. So those are the latest flavor of the day speakers? What exactly are you seeking for?
  15. I can only imagine. So now you have decided you are going to dump those worthless anti Forte 510's my way right? I will even give you a 100% profit and pay shipping too because I am a nice guy.
  16. That's a strange mix and how did you expect two tweeters and a horn and mid that would overlap to work without tri amping at the least?
  17. How low do you want your bass to go? The second drawing is not far from what my speaker placement is but I also have 13'+ ceilings and the room is much longer but is also full of hard flat surfaces from equipment and stuff. Great big gear sounds good at any volume and does so with a different quality of sound smaller things can't duplicate, in my opinion for what it is worth. The 402 horn is the key ingredient and I chose a big single fold horn because I think it has superior sound. There are a lot of cabinet plans out there as Marvel suggests and many I am sure sound great. It is a shame you can't hear some of these various configurations before you commit to buying something.
  18. I buy used gear and so rarely get to hear what new Klipsch is capable of. I have read about diaphragms in K-55-V's needing refreshing but have never done so since they ohmed OK and seemed to pass frequency sweeps fine too. I had rebuilt an LSI beater into a two piece recently and used the K-55-M drivers for the mids. They were shrill enough that it was clear something was wrong and since I had put new large MAHL tweeters in there I knew it had to be the mid drivers. So I grab a set of K-55-V soldered lug's and set them in there and it sounded great. At $80 a pop for diaphragms to redo these old mids though if they are that bad I think I would rather just spring for new Atlas drivers at $100 more for a new set that will last my life time. And I assume there have been improvements made along the way as a plus. Improvements along the way is why I am posing today. I have run through 9 sets of KPT-456's which have used the 1132 drivers and also put those on my 402 horns on the S-MWM. They sounded good in all cases. I had a chance this week to listen to these same drivers with current phase plugs and new diaphragms and the difference was NOT subtle. All things being equal and nothing touched when I fired these up it was pretty shocking. I have no idea what the life span is of diaphragms but I am having to rethink the idea of good until they fail. The other part of the equation here is how these were installed. I did not install these but recently I had a set of Ti diaphragms to put in a set of K-792 tweeters and one sounded good and the other did not until I aligned it using a frequency sweep generator. I had these in a set of KP-250's and don't like them at all by the way. WAY to shrill and soon to be EBay bound. And the last part is what difference exactly can I attribute to the new phase plugs? Maybe 90% was due to them and I have no way of determining that. What I can say is considering the difficulty in finding 402's and the difference between the old 1132's and the new ones I think if I were to do this over again I would buy the new gear from Klipsch and be done with it. Sitting in the shop today and thinking how nice things are sounding as all the pieces come together and get dialed in. I am very close to the point where I can be happy with what I have and not seek for more because I don't feel my system is up to snuff. Then something like this 1132 episode pops up and I wonder what else am I missing?
  19. Black would look better than the brown I used for your speakers. I like your wood appearance and would rather vacuum it more often or live with dust. I don't know what sprayer would work with Duratex but they have a spray grade which the tintable happens to also be by the way. I do intend to check on this in the near future if you want to wait for what I find out. The brown I picked was as mentioned in part to hide dirt on it. As dust accumulates quickly here in the shop I can say it is doing a decent job of being dusty but not looking bad while doing so. The textured paint on my old MCM 1900 was dirty and you could scrub and never get it entirely clean looking.
  20. All textured paint is harder to clean and the roller for Duratex does just that. Brushing it on will leave brush marks but be much easier to clean. I have to think spraying is best but have yet to try that. When I do I will report on what I find. If you mix just s tad of water in the Duratex it will roll on with less texture but don't over do it.
  21. Had it wrong again didn't I😒
