  1. Why yes they do but I only measure one, the center of the opening on the same side of each bin. And then the center of the 402's.
  2. I measure each unit and hold the mike by hand in appx the same place relative to the other one. I mute the set not being measured and then put the mike right in the mouth of the horn flush with the front edge and centered in the cavity.
  3. It's the try them and if you don't like them send them back but you will end up keeping them offer. ;D
  4. I hope to get caught up tomorrow. Might be a bottle of hot sauce in there too.
  5. There is a pallet between them and the floor but close enough I am sure to make a difference.
  6. It reminded me of butyl tape used for windshields just a different consistency and color. I have scrapped that stuff off and it does not act like tape to me.
  7. I don't think it was foam tape they used on the industrial speakers. You really have to work side to side to get those suckers loose. Those old boxes sound really nice with recapping and new, ahem, tweeters in them. Plus you can use them for advanced level weight lifting.
  8. Yesterday I tried the balancing so all four drivers were the same and it did not sound good at all. Went back to the 2.5db plus on the 402's and the magic was back. As an aside here I had an LSI buyer over the other day and I never let people hear the big boy until they decide to buy or not buy what they came here for. They always do buy in case you were wondering. I mentioned that the same K-43 woofer in his LSI's were the same exact ones in my S-MWM bass bins. The amazing difference that size and distance makes in a single fold horn has to be heard to be believed. I lack the engineering back ground to say why the 402's need to be run at a higher db than the bass bins but my ears tell me this is true.
  9. That is precisely what I am asking.
  10. Different 402 driver and bass bin but thanks.
  11. Great to read this. I will bring a UMike and laptop with REW and TrueRTA on it along with my Xilica xp3060 since it will all be a part of my S-MWM setup anyway. You are welcome to use anything I bring if you need to. I am interested in REW and Audacity.
  12. Not that I want to thread crap my own thread but here is another thing to think about. I have been wondering if I flip the soldering iron plug over and force it into the wall outlet if it will make a difference in the way the solder works electronically and might improve the sound.
  13. I am researching the use of multiple colors of zip ties and spacing between them and color combinations and actual placement point on wiring or caps.. There is a LOT more to zip tie use than you guys know and remember you heard it here first.
  14. OK pink noise it is. What about relative DB levels between LF and HF? I know I can flavor to suit but what I wonder is if there is a best way based on most recordings and how they were done to get the best stereo sound. I have no idea what almost all the music I listen to sounds like live so I am guessing and looking for tips.
  15. Well I am using a 1khz tone for the 402's and a 230hz tone for the bass bins to balance by and muting either hi frequency or low frequency depending on which I am working on. Sorry was not real clear on the first post which I have edited..
  16. I was tinkering today with the S-MWM and working on balancing. My attempt to do this is with a db meter that I think is OK. The pair of 402's is balanced within .07 at 102.3 db and the bass bins are within .07 and at 99.8 db. What are the desired relative output levels when matching 450hz up on the hi freq and to 450hz below on low freq on a two way system? Lousy audio environment and the only treatment that will ever happen is to throw a throw rug on the concrete slab in front of each S-MWM.
  17. Well if it is all set up it takes me about 2 minutes from begining to end to have music going. That is plug in to play.
  18. Except for those who have things bi-amped and running a xilica or Mini DSP.
  19. Well my Super MWM's are running off two Crown xli800 amps and to be honest the amps are turned half way up and I have never approached full volume on my PC controls inside my shop. I have no idea how loud they would be if I did and they are not thirsty for sure. The other gear I would bring would be as efficient so gobs of power would not be needed.
  20. Well in my shop I have run everything off a 20 amp outlet. But it is an honest 20 amp and that 20 amp breaker is dedicated to that four way only. I have not tripped the breaker yet but it also does not compete with other things for juice.
  21. That could be a big problem Carl. How long is long and what do they have to hook up to?
