  1. Eh, say what you will about LED, but I was able to calibrate a very beautiful picture on my sharp q+ 70" led tv. 4k is garbage tech for now. There is very little source for it, and the picture is just as clear from a good 8 feet away. Closer and you begin to see the difference between 4k and 1080. As for the curve screens, I will never invest in one. Samsung makes a very good tv if you get some of the higher end stuff. 7100 on up looks darn nice.
  2. Sargent you could sell to me . I think I will sell my on kyo receiver too.. without hdmi it means I will be doing to much hand shaking... it is also so deep that when it is hooked up I can't close my cabinet unless I cut out more slots in the back of the entertanimena center... blah. I could put the rb 35 on the top shelf of this wall unit, just not sure where my center would go at that point.
  3. I am just stopping in, it has been about 6 months. I have missed the speaker talk, just other hobbies took most of my attention. I will be selling some of my rsx-4 speakers (didn't really need 7) and am considering upgrading a bit. I originally thought I wanted to do rsx-5 as my fronts as I really liked the aesthetics of them, and for their size they can bear out any thing similar. Problem is I can't find black rsx-5 speakers. Then I noticed a pair of rb-35 speakers that seem to be even better than the rsx-5 speakers. I have 4 rsx 4 speakers that I planned on using as surrounds as well as an rcx-4 center. Would these rb 35 monsters overpower the rest? Would thsee sonically match the rsx speakers I currently have? The wife missed the rsx 4 sound when I pulled the wire to power the main speakers downstairs. She is hooked on sound, she just doesn't know it lol.
  4. I am offering $150 shipped for a pair of black rsx-5 speakers. Speakers must be undamaged with grills. Please message me if you have a pair.
  5. I am curious, I got the pioneer elite sc-65 which I think was rated at either 130 or 135 rms per channel. It is a 9.2 channel receiver... Is it possible that my matched rf-7 7.1 will bring the rms per channel to the sub 100 area?
  6. Congrats on the setup. I have still not found the time to buy wires and wire my surrounds in the basement... All I am running is a 2.1 setup for now with my rf-7s. It sounds marvelous, I just wish I had the ambiance of my surrounds to kill me and take me to heaven.
  7. Perhaps we will see some rf-83ii or even a monsterous rf-93 (a lesser version of the palladium pf-39)
  8. Sounds like a set on craigslist I was looking at in ankany iowa... My friend was going to pull the trigger on the reference set (he had 2 setups for sale in his ad).
  9. Anyone know of any hanging speaker mount shelves on the market that can do what I need it to?
  10. So I have a bit of a conundrum. I can place the center channel on the glass entertainment center i have, but that will cause me to get a corner tv wall mount and the tv will be raised a little bit higher than eye level. The 2nd option is to put the center above the tv. The only problem is i don't really want to drill the speaker box, I would need to get a speaker mount that acted as a shelf, or get a corner shelf and anchor it real good. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have some pictures in my thread "finally got my wife on board." Would you mount the tv or suspend the speaker?
  11. I am trying to hook up my rsw-10 to my pioneer sc-65. I found the subwoofer output on the receiver, but i cant quite figure out how to hook up to the sub, it doesn't appear to have an lfe hookup. The cord I have is a monster RCA cord but only one connection on each end...
  12. What is the difference between the guy that bought the ferrari new and the guy that bought the ferrari used? The guy that bought it new paid more lol
  13. Calm down, these are lifetime speakers. Klipsch does not skimp on the reference series (at least not in the areas that "used" will affect anything). It is highly probable I will never buy new speakers, as the used market can offer the same stuff for fractions of SMRP sillyness.
  14. Scrappy if I had the disposable funds it would be sold. I showed this to a friend who bought a para sound for the same price and he did a double take... Im sure he is suffering from a little bit of cog native dissonance (buyers remorse).
  15. sound to me like your wife secretly just told you to go buy a projection screen and a jvc rs projector to me! What are you waiting on? GO! We just got a 70" sharp. I would love to project, but I don't have a dark enough room, basement has 3 windows.
  16. You know, my wife was dead against getting the rf-7 setup for $2k on the local craigslist. I begged and pleaded and finally she caved. She said that the sound is not as important as the visual when it comes to movies. Ever since I had hooked up the little rsx speakers, her viewpoint has changed. She green lighted me for a really good receiver. I hooked up the rf-7 speakers for the first time in 3 months last week, and I can honestly say she is coming around. Misconception flees in the face of truth, and the truth is... Sound this immersive and colorful is just as important as the visual display.
  17. Believe it or not, even though I get a killer employee discount, I still have a hard time convincing my wife it's a good idea to upgrade our A/V. I'm lucky however that she's not into that crazy coach purse racket or anything of the sort. In fact, she is almost as much of a cheapskate as I am. (she says I've got expensive taste but I'm disagree). Nobody is immune! Tell me more about this employee discount... What would a palladium 93 setup run with said discount? Hehe
  18. I say... Upgrade the quintets. A good introduction to klipsch, but hardly a defining series. Should u decide to upgrade you really have 2 choices (3 if you include icon), reference and heritage. Between the 2 reference is easier to obtain and a lot lighter on the space requirements.
  19. If you can up the budget by about $200 you can get a mid-top of the line receiver from a few years back. I got the pioneer elite sc-65 for $650 shipped on the bay. It has 4k passthrough and 3d capabilities, and is 9.2 surround should I choose to add more later. $400 is a tough area to shop in. I find with the receiver you don't want to go to old if you desire things like 3d, 4k, or even hdmi (gasp).
  20. They have plenty in Des Moines theji. I drove to Omaha from lincoln myself to get my set. But I would totally have driven much farther for the deal I got. You should check out Des Moines... Im sure within a 2 month time frame you will see something that catches your eye.
  21. Jesus youth you got all those rf-7ii for $2000?! Incredible! I would love to upgrade to the II setup, wanna make $1000 on your purchase
  22. It was a joke... My recommendation is to go the route I did. Wait until an rf-7 setup pops up for fairly cheap $1500-$2000 and you will get a set that will sound better and last longer than anything for the price. I just fired up my rf-7 with my pioneer elite sc-65 and they sounded good. My wife asked me to turn the sound down a bit, and the friends experiencing the large klipsch for the first time said it sounded good and didn't hurt their ears... These speakers are near perfection... I am curious what dean g upgrades sound like... May run down to scrappys (assuming he has dean g rf-7s)... Guy changes speakers more often than most men change underwear!
  23. I recommend checking out Bose. Their theatre in a box is unmatched. With that bose name you can never doubt that your getting a quality product. I would lean towards at least the acoustimas 10, but the lifestyles are GREAT if you can flip the coin. Once you go Bose, you wont even consider another product.
  24. I wonder what shipping would cost... Where are you located?
