  1. I never said I already know HOW I want them made. That's why I asked for links where I could learn more. I did however say that I know who I want to have make them for me. He's a member here on this forum and he's been good enough to send me photos of speakers he's already refurbished as well as speakers he's built from scratch. We've already spoken and I'm not going to change my mind just because someone else thinks that I said I already know everything when I didn't. I'm looking for links to help me learn. After I do some research it will help me know the kinds of questions to ask. To be honest I listened to Heresy's at a used hifi store and liked them. I then visited an audio store and heard a brand new pair. I liked the sound. I then decided to try and buy a used pair. The few sellers I visited in the Chicago area wanted what I thought was a lot for speakers that would need the wood refurbished as well as speakers refoamed. Then a forum member offered to sell me a pair that are being re-veneered and refoamed for slightly more than the ones I checked. We also talked about building new ones with slightly different dimensions to improve the bass as well as using new drivers as opposed to used ones. That's why I want to try and research more before I commit.
  2. I didn't post my questions about where I can learn more about Heresy's with the hope of having someone else point out where I can buy them I already have a person in mind to buy them from since he's going to help make them the way I want them made. Thanks anyway.
  3. I joined this forum with the intent on learning more about Heresy speakers and possibly find a good source to buy them. Another forum member that builds and restores speakers contacted me and we are communicating about what I would like to purchase from him....and along the way as I learn more the more questions I have. The forum member is helping me but I thought if I asked these questions in the forum it may help another new member. Since Heresy's have been around for so long I have to believe that complete plans have to be available. If so can you tell me where I can find them. Are 'new' components to replace the old ones available? I found Crite's web site but it looks like not all of the components are there. I've seen posts here where I think the members have substituted drivers for the originals. Doesn't this alter the speakers sound and performance? I'm reading as much as I can to learn but I always think I'm missing things. Can anyone suggest web pages or articles that may help educate me so my new custom Heresy's are exactly what il want? Thank you...Blake.

  5. Man that Bunny Hop tune rocks. Imagine what the Korn version is gonna be like.
  6. Those who love horn bass & those who don't know any better sounds more appropriate. I thought you would say 'those who want them and those that haven't heard them yet'
  7. I live in West Dundee and work in Hoffman. I'd really like to hear Forte's before I buy.
  8. I'm kinda limited on space so...I wasn't planning on a sub...but if that's necessary then I will look into it. I'd like larger speakers but space is limited., even vertically, so taller speakers that have a large footprint is something I was hoping to avoid. I may finally get out to the Klipsch dealer tomorrow. If I were to agree to a sub can you recommend one?
  9. Here's my tube components looking for speakers.... image by sprags2004, on Flickr
  10. As much as I really want to check out some speakers from CL I ended up working OT and that extra time has given me the opportunity to follow this forum. I now see that the tube amp I have, a VTA ST-120, may actually be too much for Heresy's. It seems that I may want a speaker that is a little less efficient. Thoughts and opinions? Thank you.
  11. I have a VTA ST-120 built by Bob Latino. That amp with a Cary SLP 03 makes Polk Audio LSiM 703's sound good but I'm thinking that setup would be better for Heresy's. After reading everyone's opinion in this thread I'm kinda wondering if that's the right speaker for my tube setup. The VTA ST-120 runs in either triode or ultra-linear mode...or maybe pentode mode, if there is a difference. In triode mode it puts out 35 wpc. In that mode I sense more openness to the music. As far as issues ....mine runs fine. I do make sure it gets plenty of circulation though.

  13. I have a Delta contractors table saw that I've used only a few times. I think it's time I sell it and spring for one of these.
  14. I'd like the larger Klipsch speakers but....I'm limited by space. I've heard older Heresy's...not sure which ones but now that I've been educated about the different generations I'll be sure to make a note of it. I'm going back to Simply Stereo tomorrow to listen to the ones they have setup.
  15. I joined a few days ago in hopes of finding a good deal on used Heresy's. And I've gotten some good links for used Heresy's. My collection of equipment is in really nice shape visually and perform great also. I've considered buying new Heresy's so I know I'm getting them in the best condition they can be but I'm curious about other benefits of buying used ones. Are Heresy I's and II's considered to better than the current generation? Are there differences in the sound? My first speakers were DCM Timewindows that I purchased new in 1977. I sorta remember an MSRP of around $600 but maybe I'm wrong...so a price of $1700 really isn't unreasonable based on how many years it's been. Audiokarma seems to believe that spending a whole is crazy...but I'm of the belief that sometimes it's worth it. I wish I could afford pricier stuff but I can't. Opinions or thoughts? Thanks....Blake
  16. That looks more useful to me than a table saw.
  17. owner101 with 0 posts was the 'member' that messaged me saying he has a pair of Heresy's. He also gave me an email address. I emailed. He then asked me what model of Heresy speakers I am looking for. Now I see others have gotten messages similar to this.
  18. Thanks for all the input. Got a PM from a member that asked me which model of Heresy's I am interested in. I take it there have been revisions throughout the production of the speakers. Can someone offer me a brief history of the speaker or a link to one if there is such a document?
  19. Thank you. Are buying new worth the investment? I'm looking to keep these forever to use with my VTA ST-120 (Tubes4HiFi) and Cary SLP 03. I had Polk Audio LSiM 703's on that system and they sounded good but after putting the 703's on my Yamaha CA-2010 I decided something a little more efficient was in order and the Heresy's seem like they'd be a good match with my tube setup.
  20. That place is close to work. I'll stop by at lunch tomorrow. However if someone has a used pair please let me know.
  21. Greetings! I'm a new member and to be honest I signed up with the intent of looking to buy a pair of Heresy speakers. I'd prefer them to be in really good shape both visually and electronically. I live in the Chicagoland area and I'd be willing to travel a few miles if they are worth it. I'd be willing to pay a decent price too if they are in exceptional condition. I'm actually considering buying new ones too. Thank you. Blake
