  2. Why does a person pay it forward and continue to do so? , we do it in love, we do it out of compassion, we do it because others need it. we do it because it is the thing to do. there is no better felling. If you do it enough it will make into the person you need to be. We are here to help one another, make each other feel good no matter how big or how small. Ian Anderson knew how to turn a phrase, like so many artist, The man is a genius with words. words that spoke of all the above statements. You guys really have me WONDERING.. DID YOU GET IT?
  3. Great song, 12 words not 11 as needed. Last clue for the night on the way.

  11. Any hardcore Jethro Tull fans out there. Why you ask. I was just sitting and listening and listening to some Jethro Tull last night. Early that day I made a purchase on the internet. It was a old bottle, the type I collect. The sellers shipping seemed a little high. I contacted him about the high shipping. His response was, he was going to ship the bottle to me for free & throw in two extra bottles at no cost. What a nice gesture from a complete stranger. While listening to Tulls Living in the past LP, I could not stop thinking about the gift I was given from someone I did not know. He will make no money from my purchase, My total cost was $8 for the three bottles with free shipping. His shipping will be more than $8. I want to pay it forward. This is where the Tull fans come in. I have a free gift for someone. Here is the way I would like this to work. You must prove your a tull fan by answering a quiz. Pay it forward, what does this mean? In one of the songs on the living in the past lp, Ian sings a 11 word lyrics in a song that best explains the meaning of pay it forward. The first person who comes up with these lyrics will receive a free Tull gift for your man cave. Your answer must be exact, it has 11 words in it. The words again explain the meaning of pay it forward better than any. And in my humble opinion these words just may help us if we live by them. Please don't ask what the gift is, I can only say it is something my wife put together and I feel any Tull fan would be glad to display it. Its my favorite piece in my music room and I thought I would keep it the rest of my life. You win its yours ( free I pay shipping also) PUT that in your Tull flute and smoke it!!! No strings attached. Any participators?

  13. Hello Jweber, Man do I ever miss good ole KY, Take a trip to red river gorge for me ( natural bridge ). Eat some Cincinnati chili for me. I grew up in KY and now live in Alabama. Miss home every day. As much as I miss the memories of living in KY, there are memories that one does not care to think of. I mention this because we all have good and bad memories. For me throughout my life I have had the very unpleasant experience of going into peoples houses that owned cats and they had that smell that would take your breath away. A $50 offer may be a little much. HAHA. Seriously enjoy your day. The photo you have with little boy wearing the headphones. He is the spitting image of my grandson when he was little. Dean
  14. Just my two cents, & I know many will disagree. I have done many comparisons with all kinds of different combinations of tube & ss gear with various speakers. About 4 months back, I bought some very nice Mac tube gear. I listened to it for some time and was not impressed. I put it up for sale & a man called and asked why I was selling such nice gear. My response to him was, after years of experimenting with a ton of different gear, I reached an opinion that for the following reasons, I did not care for tube gear. ( maintenance, heat, sound, cost ect ect, ). He said he preferred tube over ss. I told him my mind was made up, ss all the way. He stated, I need to come and listen to his tube system and I would change my mind. We live over 9 hours apart, for that reason I declined. He wanted the Mac gear and made the trip to my place. He listened to the mac and could not get his wallet out fast enough. He also stated, it was a good thing I did not make the trip to listen to his system, because the sound he was hearing with the mac tube gear he had come to listen to was blowing his away. He ask why I did not care for what I was hearing. Here is where I will get my butt kicked for my comment. My response about what I was hearing, was simple ( it sucks ). Sorry for my choice of words. But that is how I felt. I ask him to take a few minutes and listen to the same speakers on my ss gear. When I hooked it up and he and his wife took a listen, both their jaws dropped. His wife looked at him ans said ( now that is beautiful sound.) He had that deer in the headlights look. Everyone likes what they like. We are all different. Makes for an exciting world. This is one crazy hobby we have, ( the hunt, the expense, the time and on and on.) Buy the ticket take the ride. I bought many tickets and rode many times. For me its SS Gear all day long. Just my two cents. Enjoy your music, and to everyone, I hope you have the best of days. Dean
  15. Thanks to those who responded. After much research, I found, the speakers inside the cabinets will sell for $600 to $700 alone. I have them listed on that auction website we all know for $800 obo. If there is anyone on this site that may be interested in them I will take $600. I think they are well worth that. Thanks and my best to all, Dean
  16. Here are the photos. A bit more about what I know of these speakers. They came out of an old movie theater that has been closed for years. The man I got them from has listened to them for the last twenty some odd years and said he never did anything to them. They are in the condition from when they were pulled out of the theater. I have been listening to them for several months now, I am very pleased with their sound and they still crank. The cabinets are very solid but need some TLC, few paint specs on tops minor scratches. Any thoughts.
  17. Thanks for the info, mustang guy. I think I have a pair of Altec 606 or 606a speakers on my hands. I am going to take photos of them and get them listed on this site.
  18. I think you should be able to view photos now.
  19. I purchased these speakers a couple a months back while buying some MAC equipment. The seller told me they were removed many years ago from an old movie theater. I look everywhere online and can not find a pair like them. They are built in the shape of corner speakers, but you can place them anywhere and produce the same sound, They sound great. If you notice the round dowel coming from the back of the speaker, it is connected to the crossover to raise or lower the highs. The horn on top is Altec, the 15" woofer and the crossovers are JBL. They sound great and I was going to refinish them and put them up for sale. But I would like to know what I have. last but not least, I cant get the photos posted, HELP!!!!
  20. OK lets beat this dead horse. While writing my prior post, my postal carrier left a package on my front porch. It is a album that I purchased online. Its raining cats and dogs here this morning. the package was left in a puddle of water. I found it before the water soaked through, thank goodness. Could she not have honked the horn or knocked on the door. To the postal carriers, get your act together or get another job. Hope that was not too harsh!!!!
  21. Shipping on larger items can be difficult at best. I have literally shipped several thousand items through the various shipping company's over the last 15 years. I have had a total of 5 damaged items , 2 I shipped out and 3 shipped to me. The seller must make the claim. You need to keep the shipping boxes and packing material and take photos of all the fore mentioned. Send photos to seller so they can pass it on to the shipping co. Where the real problem comes in, is the shipping company will deny your claim every time. The seller has to stay on them and not except no for an answer. This does not mean the claim will be paid. However it your only hope. I recently bought three receivers out of New York for a total of $3000.00. Want to talk about a kick in the head, All 3 arrived damaged. The seller all of the sudden has lost his ability to speak clear English while on the phone. But through email he states a claim has been turned in. This is one of the 5 claims I speak of. My other 4 claims were denied, I suspect this one will turn out the same. Insurance company's make their money by denying claims not paying them. One claim I had was with USPS, I shipped a $1800.00 turntable. While I was at the post office the lady dropped the package 4 feet to the floor, it hit several other packages and tumbled across the floor a couple of times. My blood pressure went through the roof. I got a little excited and raised my voice to her. My wife stepped in and took over. She explained to the postal attendant, that the package was very fragile. The attendant said don't worry there was no damage to the item. I guess she had x-ray vision. As we left the post office, a gentleman who was in line, came out to my car and said, after we left the postal attendant literally kicked the package. He gave his name and number and said he would be glad to give a statement on what he saw. I then talked to the post master general at that location. This was her response, " you had insurance, file a claim," I stated that's what we are here about and ask how to proceed? Her response " I don't know but good luck". The moral of the story is " I don't know but good luck" We live in a different world today. The old saying about the customer is always right, went out the door a long time ago.
