  1. They are heavy, right at 120lbs. 6-7 lbs is my estimate. Last night I installed some eye-hooks and used a rachet strap on each to secure. They have stopped moving, but now the xpa-7, pre-pro and dvd player are all moving. I was surprised to see that heavy amp move like that!
  2. I have added more fill to (2) of the 4 18" sub boxes and now at high volume they move/ dance out of place intensely. Ever heard of this just from adding more poly fill?
  3. Normally, you would have your main feed of hot and neutral "spidered" out to each rec. I don't know the elec. codes in your area but code in my area only allows for one ground per component, no piggy-backing from each component in the same gang box. You will prolly be ok, but might be worth looking into.
  4. Metro, How about turning the subs inward? That looks cool!
  5. Now you are planning right! The cost is so minimal and you won't kick yourself later! Good job on planning!
  6. This is very good reading material for REW. I'm going to read as much as possible so I'll have somewhat of a clue on how to perform the measurements and then how to possibly fix the issue(s) areas. Going to be a lot of trial and error. Edit for (sic).
  7. Thanks for the feedback/ input. I have ordered the calibrated UMM6 mic and a 3.5mm jack to rca cable and have been reading about REW. I'm looking forward to seeing what it shows and then working towards making improvements.
  8. I'm interested in measuring my room and wanted to get a feel for the preferred equipment and program(s) used to perform this function. I'm looking at: http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-omnimic-v2-precision-measurement-system--390-792 Any cons to using this system?
  9. Being able to do just that is another reason, besides great sound quality, why I love my NAD pre/pro and AVR's. Bill I like that on the remote. Every avr remote should have this.
  10. Does that come with free set-up as well? If not, I'm out!
  11. I do have a great "real" story that would go great with this, but I'm paranoid to talk about it!
  12. I've got a time machine in my basement.
  13. I also have the AV7702. Just as Gadgy states, it gets warm, but not hot. I also have Onkyo 717 and 636, they tend to get a bit hotter. But these onkyo avrs don't come close to the processing of the 7702, imo.
  14. This is a good thread to read. The OP kept his cool and others helped out. I have also read that other folks have had this same issue when introducing different levels of equipment and the signal was considered to weak.
  15. That's what I did. Not a bad idea to do since it's still in the construction stage. I even added a ceiling fan.
  16. Looking good. Are you going to have ventilation for the equipment in the rack?
  17. Now you're talking! I'm kicking around the idea of adding 4 more SI 18's. My wife says no way, it's already destroying the house. But, she is gonna be in New Jersey for 2 straight weeks soon and I'll see what I can do during that time. I'm more of a ask for forgiveness kinda guy!
  18. OP, I have (4) 81's, for side and rear surround and they are great. Edit: They sound great to me.
  19. Nice rack! Pardon the pun!! I know you're not asking, but I'm a low voltage contractor, please consider having a licensed electrician check your panel work. I deal with the low voltage side of things daily and when I finished my basement, I hired an electrician to double check all of my work concerning power outlets, lights, etc. and the panel to make sure it met code and or surpassed it. Also, you might want to pull an extra 20 amp circuit to your a/v equipment room for any future expansion that might involve big amps, etc. Just tryin to help.
  20. Cool layout! I bet that room rocks nicely!!
