  1. Hi Buster, I have the Synergy System 6 as my everyday system. I upgraded to the 12" woofer as DD suggests in his post. Well worth the extra push in money. My dealer let me listen to both the 10" and the 12" and charged me very little to upgrade (he sells the System 6 as a package). But, I deal with him exclusively and have purchased all of my equipment from him. You'll see my "BIG" system in my signature. Good luck. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  2. Here is a useful link to what you are asking. It's on the Dolby site. http://www.dolby.com/ht/sound/sound3.html Also, I use towers all around as you will see by the equipment list in my signature. They are set up very close to the diagram at this link. It's the third diagram down, the IUTR-1. http://www.geocities.com/p_iturra/Mixer_HomeT_Layout.html Hope this helps! ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  3. I have been tinkering with this for a while now. I also posted a similar query in the 2-channel forum. I have a pair of KLF30s that are currently 8 feet apart, aimed straight out and are @ 13 feet from my listening area. Is there an advantage to toeing them in? I have noticed that when are car drives across the sound stage that is seems to start just outside of the speakers and moves fairly seamlessly across the sound stage to the other side and past. I was curious if others have experimented with this type of thing. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  4. I have experimented with this in the past, but wanted to know what the 2-channel crowd thinks. I have my KLF30s about 8 feet apart and aimed straight out. My listening position is @ 13 feet from the front of the speakers. I also use these for Home Theatre about 75% of the time. I have noticed my sound stage seems to image better with this current set-up. But, is there an advantage to having the horns aimed directly at my listening area "sweet spot"? ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  5. Positioning Rear speakers is more of a tweak than an exact science. Also I use full range speakers (KLF30s) for my surrounds. They are a bit behind and actually my wider than my fronts. They are aimed at my main listening area. I can't remeber the URL but I believe the Dolby site gives some good examples of various ways to set up both side and rear surrounds. I am still experimenting .... it's a never ending process. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  6. I agree with lerajie, for I too own an AVR5800. Awesome for both home theatre and music. I have no qualms with the remote, it readily controls six additional components. The software made it easier to edit the buttons, but on the whole it works quite well. And remember, just like Klipsch, buy it from an authorized dealer. Best of luck on whatever you decide. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  7. I agree with John. Go with the KLF30s for surrounds as well. The surround channels are full range, in other words same as the L & R fronts. I have KLF30s for my mains and my surrounds. Works great for both music and home theatre. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  8. Boa, Looks like all the speakers need to be set to at small or large, this is for all modes. You can't configure each one for the number of speakers used unfortunately. However, what if you adjust the sound parameters for each mode? These are unique for each mode. Therefore, why not adjust your side surrounds to the lowest negative setting your system is capable of? This should render them unheard or almost anyway. To answer your other question, I would use the second S6 but I have a very odd back wall, in that it doesn't extend all the way across the back. So only room for one, which fortunately is the center of my listening area. Also, the rear isn't two true separate channels, so there is no advantage to using two speakers. Hope this helps. 9. Boa, I have the 5800 also. You get 7 channel stereo with the surrounds and rears. The 5/7 channel stereo mode uses all of the speakers that are hooked to the system. So I don't believe you can turn off the surrounds and use your cornwalls. I will experiment today and see if I can do it. I'll keep you posted. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  10. I agree with DD. I run KLF30s for both my mains and my surrounds. Since all your channels are full range, why not use a full range speaker?? Also, I DO NOT run a second set of surrounds for home theatre. My surrounds are just behind my listening area and toed in about 60 degrees or so. This covers my listening area quite well, plus it's great with 5 channel stereo, if you own a receiver capable of that. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  11. I have a Denon AVR5800. I use KLF30s for mains and a pair of KLF30s as my surrounds. I use a KSP-S6 as a center rear effects. I tried my KSP-S6s as surrounds for movies, but favored the KLF30 surrounds for both music AND movies. Since the surround channels are full range, why not use a full range speaker for this purpose? It sounds incredible to say the least. Email me, mark@colabear.com, if you have any questions. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  12. I am currently have my home theatre configured as follows: KLF30s for L&R mains, KLF-C7 center, KLF30s surrounds, KSP-S6 center rear effects(using only one due to odd room configuration), all driven by a Denon AVR5800. In 5.1 and higher sound mixes, the surround channels are also full range if i remember correctly. I felt my S6s couldn't reproduce the surround sound nearly as well as the KLF30s. Yet I have seen posts to the effect of using mains as surrounds for music and S6s for surrounds for home theatre. My question is this, do people here feel that the S6s (or other surrounds) offer a better surround sound for theatre than using full range mains? I am extremely happy with the way i am set up now, but was curious. I'd be interested in any and all comments. Thanks again! ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 denter KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  13. I may not have the terminology quite right, but here goes. I am using KLF30s as both my mains and surrounds powered by a Denon AVR5800. From what I have read, the surround channels are (here comes the terminology part) are full range as are the front/main channels. My point being, you want to use a full range speaker (preferredly the same as your front/mains) for your surrounds. I tried a pair of KSP-S6s, believe me, there is no comparison. One of my S6s is now functioning as a center rear effects speaker and handling that duty quiet well I might add. I know there are a few others on this board that will back me up on this. Good luck with whatever you decide.
