  1. She is a Balanese , the long haired vairiant of the Siamese. Great cat, and like all of them attracted to boxes like moths to porch lights. The speakers are even nicer in real life, heavy as hell and dead solid. STILL haven't heard them yet! Had to host and MC a 25th anniversary reception for my work tonight and have Christmas dinner for the board and shareholders tomorrow. Wednesday it will be...the universe keeps throwing obstacles my way. At least they are here in my living room.
  2. Serious packaging. As well a demonstration for those using stand mounts who don't think they have space for floorstanders.
  3. Ended up with few major work fires to put out and was just able to get them home from the office today. I did have concerns about these making the long journey from New York intact. I needn't have- these bad boys are packed for the ages. Triple boxed with a set of heavy duty cardboard corner protectors within each of the three boxes! The first inner box was also protected with thin pressboard sheets. This was a near two hour process getting them deboxed. They are immaculate. Three trips down to the large garbage downstairs (I'm on the tenth floor), and I'm just about ready to swap out the RB61 IIs, hook them up and rerun Audessy. Thus far I am seriously impressed and best of all, my wife loves the look of them! The veneer selection I settled on - Rosewood, nearly perfectly matches our furniture, most of which is mango wood which is a closely related species. updates to follow but so far so good.

Don't know about you guys, but when the RCMP (in full red Serge dress uniform)bring out the Cup I get a serious lump in the throat. A great part of Canadian culture and tradition.

    Grey Cup

I could be wrong but I think it refers to the RCMP red Serge dress uniform.

You are correct sir. On paper and over the course of the season, Calgary should have run away with this. Proves the old adage: every dog has his day. Great for the league though. Nice to see Ottawa with a new franchise and win after only three years. Roughriders RIP, long live the RedBlacks.

Was in Ottawa all week at a conference, just got back to Yellowknife yesterday. The town was stoked.

Calgary coming back. What a game for turnovers.

    Grey Cup

True but they are the underdog and are running away with it. What a bloody game!

The CFL Grey Cup match is ten minutes away from kickoff! Ottawa Vs Calgary
  12. I bought my RB61 IIs as well as my Marantz CD player from Electronics for less. They shipped to Yellowknife and were great to work with. Ask for Mason, they always seem to give a lower price than what is shown on the website. Highly recommended. Thinking back I also got my Klipsch sub from them as well. These purchases were over a couple year period.
  13. Speakers have arrived in the great white north (literally, it's been snowing for over 24 hours). Unfortunately I have to fly down to Ottawa tomorrow for a conference and won't be able to debox and set them up until this weekend. Something to look forward to and keep me distracted the rest of the week.
  14. FOUND! You are not going to believe this...the parcel was in the bloody office. We rent the back of our building to another firm (bookkeeping), and had been sharing their receptionist for part days for a couple weeks as our former receptionist had left to take another job. It was she who signed for it, tucked it in behind her desk and failed to notify me. She ended up getting let go later that same afternoon and the box had been under her former desk since then. I never did know her name and therefore didn't recognize the receiving name. Our new hire (started today) came across it. The post office has been informed. Amazing, you couldn't make this stuff up.
  15. He was a great musician, a great Canadian and a great Jew. The finest and most sucessful to come out of Montreal's community. If I knew how, I would post a link...IPads are not like real computers. In the spirit if Rememberance Day and Armistice Day, I suggest a two second bit of effort...a quick Google of the IDF version of Hallelujah sung in modern Hebrew. You have heard the tune a thousand times...this version is in my opinion the definitive version next to the original. Leonard Cohen Z"L
  16. An update and twist. According to the Canada Post tracking system , my mono blocks were delivered. Except they weren't. I was able to download and print my delivery certificate; with a name and signature I have never heard of. Have been in contact with the PO and they have contacted the local office and are looking into what happened to this "delivery".
  17. They gave me a call today to let me know they are being shipped from Brooklyn tomorrow.
  18. Lessening the load was the main reason for the additional power. Looking forward to thier arrival.
  19. That's pretty straight forward, I am prone to over thinking. Are there recommended cables to go from the AVR to the blocks? And finally...when I rerun the Audessy, will it still recognize the front speakers as the front speakers? This is probably simple stuff but I've never done it before.
  20. I have a Marantz Sr5008 and have a pair of Marantz MA 700 mono blocks (used),on the way. What is the best (or correct way), to integrate these into the system for my front left and right? I hope to be able to continue as before with the system on for TV and movies (5.1) and in stereo for music. Will the AVR control the volume of everything? Do the speakers need to be hooked up to the blocks or to the AVR as they are now?
  21. Done deal. Will have to figure how to properly hook them up once they arrive.
  22. Good news, he is willing to ship and will let me know the Canada Post rate tomorrow. Very much looking forward to receiving these. Thanks for the suggestion and direction.
  23. Wow, I've not seen these before. I am a Marantz fan in general and am using a Marantz AVR. These are in Canadian dollars and may be ticket. edit: sent a message off to see if he is willing to ship north from Saskatchewan. If he is that may be the quickest solved problem I've had in a while.
