  1. Good morning all. Been a while since I've checked in.. Been super busy with the "De-Clutter". Moving from 3700 sqft to 1500 sqft puts A LOT into perspective. Almost to a point where we feel like we aren't tripping over each other and "STUFF". Wife got her Winter Garden in and a temporary chicken coop....got our first half dozen eggs yesterday....will be converting an old work shed into a larger coop this weekend. So far I've replaced about 80% of the plumbing.....fix one thing and then another pops up...think I've just about stopped the bleeding for now. With the move I donated my beloved Sony 55" LCD and Yamaha YSP-5100 Sound Projector to my parents....they've been wanting a flat screen for years and I figured it was best to give it to them rather than get a few hundred for it....they promptly rewarded me with their Klipsch Quintet Micro Theater setup that has been used maybe twice since 2001 along with the KSW-15 that I gave them around the same time. I may use that instead of my Reference stuff....it seems to be too much for the small space and takes up valuable space. I'll get pictures up soon....wife is almost comfortable enough to allow people to come over for a bon fire and oysters
  2. This is my gear, or at least what I am getting rid of....just haven't had time to get it put up here yet with pics.
  3. good morning guys....been a while We are officially in the new place...and well...it's small...lol No pics yet...the wife refuses to store to memory our clutter and obvious over abundance of "stuff" right now...once cleared up and cleaned out I'll post some pics of the new abode. One thing has become glaringly clear....there is no room for the majority of my gear...so I've started selling off....sold a KSW15 to a local forum member last night. Super nice guy but doesn't post much at all...but says he's lurks and reads a ton. If you see this notruck...was great meeting you and seeing your gear. He has a really nice setup with (4) KLF10 (2)C-7's and now (2) KSW15's powered by a mint RX-V3000 Yard Sale this Saturday...what ever gear is left over after that I'm going to post up in the Garage Sale
  4. Morning all......been away a while working on the new place Been more work than it appeared.....but about what I expected.....having to replumb a good portion of the original steel pipes....too much corrosion. have all the ceilings, cabinets, walls and baseboards painted.....working on floors this weekend. Should be able to start moving stuff from house to house this coming week. Kids are having friends over tonight after the football game for a bonfire (i.e. burning of all the limbs and crap that we have trimmed back and gotten out of the house) Florida/Georgia Weekend.....welcome to the Worlds Largest Cocktail Party.......we will not be going downtown this year...too much to do! Hope everyone has a great weekend....
  5. Long evening at the house....but lots getting done....and I found our first attic treasure when setting off a bug bomb...cleaned up really nice....but only hums when turned on...all 5 tubes light up so guessing caps need replaced.
  6. Nice job Jim!!! Good looking brisket right there!
  7. Morning all.....looooong weekend Got the majority of the furniture out of her grandma's house and into storage this weekend. She got a good deal of the stuff sorted and boxed up. Found a TON of old pictures, letters and stuff....was really cool. Called a friend down at Town Hall and he wants to get copies of most of the pictures since not many exist of the original spring fed city pool/park. I overdid it in the field yesterday and have tweaked my back....so to the doctor I go today. All in all I got about 450ft of welded wire field fence, 800ft of barbed wire and about 200ft of 16'x4' Feedlot Panels all down and stacked. Got the old feeding troughs drug out and an old shack torn down. All ready to be bush hogged this afternoon. Also going to go ahead and till up the area for my wife's garden. We're going to use the Feedlot Panels to run a fence across the front of the property with a 12ft gate at the driveway. The property is right off a busy county road...and this will give my wife a sense of ease about the dogs and kids playing in the yard. Back to the corporate grid for a while today...taking off at lunch for Dr. appointment and then to meet buddy at house to pay him for grooming the field/garden.
  8. I had to borrow it from a friend......for some reason it is STUPID expensive on Amazon...like $500 Next up is The Untouchables from the same author
  9. Just read Sled Driver.....AWESOME book written by a former SR-71 pilot.....
  10. Asked a few locals what the plan is for it and they just shrug their shoulders....apparently NASA is leasing the space it's being stored on....but nobody seems to know what they are going to do with it.....or at least are not telling anyone
  11. My son wears my "Wish Tour" tshirt all the time
  12. This is the band that I've seen the second most......only behind Social Distortion....man I was just wondering if they were gonna have a tour anytime soon...looks like only four dates so far....ugggghhh....ALWAYS a PHENOMENAL show.....bit far of a hike for me...
  13. Get to see this everyday on my way home from work....Shuttle External Tank sitting in a Marina on the St. Johns in Green Cove Springs, FL....
  14. My ex-Father-in-Law's Engineering Firm (RS&H) Does all kinds of neat stuff for NASA.....got to go down to a few launches and tour the facilities that house the NASA Mobile Launch Structures as well as watch quite a few Rocket and Shuttle launches.....was always just amazing to watch. It was also always a little weird seeing all these people falling over themselves when he would walk into a room.....always wanted to just say..."Hey...guys...this dude was hammered at Hooters last night.....chill out.."
  15. Dave.... Is this a GM SUV? Tahoe/Yukon? If so what noise is it making....is it a ticking sound? These have LSx engines that are notorious for piston slap.....sounds like ticking valvetrain or lound knocking at start up that usually goes away after warming up. It in now way effects the reliability of the vehicle. A LSx based crate motor does indeed run about $8000/9000....but your's with 86K miles should be worth a rebuild if it's truly needed....I had a 2002 Suburban that I put 250K on and did little more than basic maintenance to it.....they are VERY reliable engines. I'd definitely get a 2nd opinion
  16. At least according to Mr. Powell.....he said Neils song kinda ticked Ronnie off since it kinda categorized all Southern men into a single stereotype.....apparently something that him and Neil had discussed in previous face to face conversations.....so as a "ribbing" back to Neil Young he put that into the song....saying what he had told him in person...supposedly that "If that's how you view all Southerners...than I don't need ya around me." Now this was taken from Mr. Powell....so who to say how accurate it was some 30 years after the fact.....we all know how fishing stories go...
  17. Lynard Skynard, Ronnie van Zant........................Simple Man..............Funny he was wearing a Neil Young shirt considering there opposing views of the south http://ultimateclassicrock.com/neil-young-vs-lynyrd-skynyrd-nastiest-rock-feuds/ That was more media hype than anything.....they actually respected each other quite a bit.....it was more of a ribbing than a true feud......I used to talk about it quite a bit with one of my best friends father....a Mr. Billy Powell....good lord than man had some stories
  18. Morning all......sore sore sore this morning Pulled up about 800ft of rusty field fence yesterday evening.....will be rolling it up tomorrow and pulling all the posts and making a trip to the dump. Bush Hog and tiller coming on Monday. Making a sawmill run hopefully next weekend. Time to take off overalls and replace with slacks and button down.....
  19. My personal recipe that has won a dozen or so local competitions..... I trim all fat to about 1/4" then brine mine in a beef broth, salt, sugar, rub and water ice brine for 10-12 hours.....take out and dry......light mustard coating and then pack on the dry rub....let it come to room temp Get smoker to 200-225 over lump charcoal and oak or pecan.....these are my preferred hard woods since they are abundantly available locally and also burn slow and even without any bitterness like mesquite. My rule of thumb is about 1 hour per pound in the smoker....but this is just a "guideline"....what I watch most is the internal temp of the brisket. Where most people kinda freak out is the "stall"...brisket will get to about 165-170* and just sit there for a while...people tend to freak out and start increasing the temp to try to get past it....DO NOT DO THIS.....it will stall for a good 1-2 hour.....just keep steady and it ill eventually get past the stall with even heat. I usually wrap my brisket in foil with a little bit of beef broth and apple juice when the stall starts and then pull it off the smoker when it hits 200*. Let it rest for about 30-45 minutes and then slice it thin. Good Luck!! Of all the cuts of meat that I've worked with....brisket is by far the most difficult to master on the smoker.
  20. Guess these can go here too.....never a big smoker....but didn't realize that Clove Cigarettes have been banned for sale in the US.....
  21. Something my kids just "don't get". There were two GREAT record stores here that I used to visit almost daily...but my all time favorite was Wags Record Hound.....buy, sell, trade.....just the whole atmosphere. I'd go in and Wags would be behind the counter smoking a clove cig and reading some music rag (swear he was Joey Ramones clone). He'd always be playing something interesting and would have the album cover sitting on a stand on the counter so you knew what was playing. I'd spend HOURS in there talking to other customers or employees (Travis was a local musician that worked there that knew what I liked and would always stash something different away for me.) I'd always walk out with a stack of LP's, Tapes and CD's. Miss that stuff.
