  1. Got to see them in Vegas on Halloween in 2007....great show
  2. Dad would get a pigs feet and I'd get an egg.....wash it down with a RC w/peanuts
  3. You will NOT regret this purchase.....I regret selling mine
  4. Yeah....Dad caught me "hot dogging" it in the field one day right when summer break started....took it away for 2 weeks....that was the longest two weeks of summer ever...
  5. Yes MAX! Once we moved out to the country this was my main mode of transport.....it's amazing I didn't kill myself on that thing...
  6. Maybe different in years, but not in what you were after. I could have bought a cheap car for the 200.00 I spent on my first speakers. But I preferred the speakers... Dave Yeah...always been a passion....my dad went with me to pick them up at our local Radio Shack and just shook his head when they brought them out "Son...those will take up nearly your entire room...." My Uncle had given me a Sansui 5000a receiver that he had brought back from Vietnam....hooked it up and had dad hooked in about 15 minutes......ended up setting it up in the Living Room and enjoyed them for a good 20 years
  7. that was around '84-'85 OK....I see. Dave and I were about 35 years old while you were collecting those 5 centers Gotcha...I was about 13...on my Redline BMX...collecting bottles and cutting yards so that I could save up for my first pair of big speakers.....a set of Realistic Mach 1's
  8. Yep but I remember the bottle being darker brown. The pulp made it but I could drink one in about three gulps.....didn't last long. Anyone pour peanuts from the bag into Coke or Pepsi? only into a Ray Charles.......(That's a RC Cola to non Southerners)
  9. Man...Sun Crest Orange Soda....my granny always had that in the fridge. Don't remember the brown bottle.....but do remember the ribbed bottle with the blue label....got 5 cents a bottle for those back at the store....
  10. Afternoon all.....no effect from the storm here....just busy busy weekend Friday was Homecoming Game and daughter as (reluctantly) on Homecoming Court....so went to the Parade and Game....we got the much needed divisional win. Saturday was spent starting to clean out the new digs......man....75 years of collecting stuff.....lots of trips to the dump ahead. took over 1000 pounds of stuff this weekend. Ever heard the phrase "Don't know sh*t from Shinola".....well apparently Shinola was Shoe Polish......they went out of business in the late 50's.....found like four bottles of the stuff in a kitchen drawer. Pulling up some of the carpeting....floors are toast...and too many gaps to use as permanent flooring. Dad came by and we assessed the situation. He called his buddy at the sawmill and he told us that he'd cut us a deal since dad uses him so much.....1x6x8 heart pine rough cut for $1/board....well then run those through dad's planer and sander before install.....dad thinks we can do it all in a weekend. Kitchen cabinets are actually in great shape...just need to be cleaned, sanded and painted....new countertops are needed.....deciding between butcherblock or concrete Have a buddy going by one day this week to bushhog the field and till my wife up a 20x30 plot for her garden.....she's itching to go ahead and plant mustards, collards, kale and swiss char Have a few out buildings that need to be torn down and either burned or hauled to dump. Gonna be a hard few weeks....hope to be in by Thanksgiving......once real demo starts I'll start posting pics of progress.
  11. Morning all Journey starts today....wife and her cousin are starting to clean out the house today. I'm taking a half day and going to grab my dad's 24' trailer after lunch to start making runs to the dump. Weather is gloomy...but has cooled down a good bit...highs in the low 70's today and dipping into the low 60's at night.....should make for some good working weather. 1 Mountain Dew down......
  12. deja vu But who's going to finish first ? Ours will not be near as nice as his is.....new floorboards and vinyl flooring, slide in shower/tub. new shitter and sink...paint...done

    Hurricane!

This one is getting ugly quick....just upgraded to Cat4
  14. yes...these are the original floors that were built in 1931......not sure what kind of shape they are in until we get the carpet out.....but plan is to sand and then use satin poly as you did....as long as they are in decent shape. Majority of the Plumbing was redone about 10 years ago....as was the roof. HVAC is about 15 years old (Carrier 2ton unit) but was just serviced last year and given a clean bill of health. It's built on a cinder block crawl space foundation that's in good shape. Electrical needs some work. Will most likely install a new panel and update the outlets. The actual wiring was redone in the 90's and is in decent shape. Overall the house has solid "bones"......but bathroom needs to be gutted.....old cast iron tub leaks and has rotted the floor....so will be ripping everything out and replacing flooring (hope that the joists are OK). Kitchen...we will sand and repaint the original Oak cabinets and replace the countertops (may try my hand at concrete tops) as well as all the appliances. We have a gas GE Profile 5 burner dual oven stove that we will install that's been in storage for a few years....we are both excited to be going back to gas. Should be a fun process....and everyone is excited to help out with the projects. My current "lawn boy" (our 13yr old) is really excited about getting a riding mower (about 3 of the 6.5 acres are cleared and need mowing).
  15. Good to be from a small town......just got a call from the storage place (owned by a high school buddy) "Jason...just came in and saw that you guys rented and 15x45 for $200/mnth......I've got two 15x30's that are side by side that I could get you for about $175....I'll go ahead and write that up if you're ok with that...."
  16. old heart pine floors.....funny you mentioned that....as my wife just called and said the same thing....just called a good friend of mine that owns a drywall/painting company and he's going to barter out some work for me... I've got an old Coke Machine and a kegerator that he's been eyeballing.....and was some of the things we were going to look to get rid of anyways..
  17. Yeah.....we rented a 15x40 unit that is literally 2 blocks from the new place.....and we are in our current place until Dec15th. Plan is to get the floors, bathroom and kitchen done before starting to move things into the new place.....painting can be done as we feel inclined, We have a TON of stuff...we never really condensed our stuff from two households to one when we got together...so we are fully aware of what we have...and what we need to get rid of....we are using this as our opportunity to do just that.....PURGE!!! Thanks for the well wishes...it'll be a whirlwind the next couple of months. Great thing is that the kids are actually really excited about it....
  18. Congrats to all! Big changes coming up....Garage Sale pending. Wife's grandmother has been moved to assisted living facility. Talked to her parents about helping out and they have insisted we move into her home and get it back in shape. Was built in the 30's and hasn't been properly maintained the past 15-20 years. It'll be a bit of a squeeze (it's a 4/1...about 1300sqft...we are currently in a 6/3.5 3600sqft in a "subdivision") but we'll make it work...and bring it back to life. It sits on 6.5acres so wife is happy she'll be able to have a big garden again as well as chickens and such. We're clearing it out this weekend and ripping all the carpet out...start restoring the original hard wood floors...then remodeling bathroom and kitchen....then total repaint. Hope to be in by Thanksgiving oh yeah.....rent free... So will be most likely getting rid of majority of my Reference Stuff in lieu of space.....once in the new space I'll revisit my Klipsch "wants" and be back in the market. Fairly large lifestyle change....and ready for it.....
  19. that makes me sick to my stomach...good luck on the claim
