They were originally oak clear too...so if he's been oiling them, they've probably gotten darker over time. Personally, I really don't like oiled oak, so that would spoil it for me.

Here in CT there are Chorus II that sell for $1,100 and above. I, too, think $568 average is quite low. You almost never see that over here.

Sure you do, ever heard of stacking?[emoji6]
Sure have! I have also heard of needing to find a new home if I attempt such things.

Having done 1, then 2, then 4 subs, I am a big proponent of multiple subwoofers. I would have recommended 2 that were cheaper had I found this sooner. The componentry looks top-notch.
Ideally, I'd love to have 2. Unfortunately, my room doesn't allow for 2 right now. I've actually found that pointing the subwoofer to the side really helps the bass throughout the room. Before there were large peaks/nulls, and now pretty much every seat in the room has the same level.

So I checked the calendar today and it appears it has not been 8 weeks.

The Chorus II have plenty of bass. They don't have DEEP bass though. Positioning and room will have a huge effect on bass performance like Youthman said.

It's about 50/50. It's the living room and I listen to a lot of music. But, I do enjoy getting some movies shaking the walls. I don't listen to music very loud at all, but movies I crank up a bit. For music, I was looking for more definition around things like the double bass.

The worst part about ordering from JTR is the wait time, but I can assure you it's worth it. Be prepared though, these subs are HUGE, they were actually bigger than I was anticipating but I made it work and am very happy I did.
The sub I ordered is 'tiny' compared to your orbit shifters.
I got the Captivator 118HT. I was looking for a bit more clarity in the bass. It also has about 10db more output than the R-115SW across the board so I should stay virtually distortion-free at the volumes I listen.
These 8 weeks are going to take forever!

I've read nothing but good things about his products. Decided to go with custom walnut instead of the standard black that's in stock.

Anyone here running JTR subs?
I'm interested in the captivator 118HT. The 1400 is more than I need.
Really interested in what an 18" sounds like and I'm looking to get it in walnut.

$585 average is an incredible price. In CT you won't see them for less than $1100 generally. They are worth what you will pay for them. For me, $1100 for Chorus II would not be out of the question. They are incredible speakers. And what could you buy today that will come close to their performance?
$1700 would be too much, though.

20 feet...at least that's what they say. I didn't measure the cable but it is quite long.

I bought a pair for my father. I don't find them harsh at all and they actually seem almost mellow. That's not to say they aren't exciting, but they can be turned up without any harshness that I found.
