LOVE MY KG-4's - PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE?
Craig6519 replied to DogsPart2's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I was an AGE mechanic, still am, I take care of Equipment accounts and mobility now. Lakenheath has changed a lot though. Ever since we got the F-15's and retired the F-111, the old chem warefare exercises decreased dramatically. I had a pair of KG-4 too but sold them like an idiot, but have some cornwalls now so I'm feeling much better. Craig -
Congrats, I've only had mine 4 days but loving it. Craig

Ok I'm going to officially post my KLF-30's and C-7 in medium oak all for sale, Package price picked up $900.00 and these are in mint condition. I love the tube Cornwall sound and these speakers are beautiful. I've had my tube setup about a month now but it seems new again since I got the cornwalls. Craig -

Thanks Craig & Lynnm, the boys feeling much better now, hopefully he'll be able to come home tomorrow If the doc gives him the all clear. On a brighter note I took a Motorcycle Safety Course this weekened and passed so I'll soon be a cool old guy cruising around. Now for the speakers. They are perfect, I could only find one small dent on one of the corners. I staretd with a CD my wife like not sure who It is but man were those HORNS in my face!!! I tought for a second oh NO I hate them already. So I walked away for 15 minutes to let the ST-70 warm up grabbed a beer and slapped on Molly Hatchet on vinyl!!! WOW, Awesome sounded Incredible, and the BASS was GREAT, I don't know why but with the Eico set to 2 It was loud on the Cornwalls and I have to go to 3 to get the KLF-30's to produce that much volume. That kind of confuses me because the 30's are more sensative. Also help me out with these S/N 107837 and 107838, what year are these? These are the first cornwalls I'd ever seen up close and thought they all had the screw on terminals at the top, but these bave binding posts at the bottom, I guess I should have noticed this in the pics when I bid for them, I was just curious as I'd never seen these before. DogsPart2, Where were you stationed back in 85? Lakenheath Upper Heyford, Bentwaters? I was at Lakenheath back in 85 and didn't come back to the States until 2002. What did/do you do in the Air Force? Craig -

There here boxes look great, only had time to open the top of one and it's wrapped in plastic with sheets of styrafoam around it and in a thick cardboard box No time to check had to run my son to the emergency room today to have his apendix removed. Been a stressful day. Craig -
KJ, does he only restore them? or does he sell them as we'll? Craig

We'll actually I listen to the radio a lot, I like the background noise too. here are some really good stations here but I have been overseas for a long time. LOL!! Dang it Craig you can't fix these thing's up? That's what I was hoping for Craig

I love the whole tube sound and was wondering about getting a tuner, I will be buying a reciever down the road for HT and could use it's tuner but I was just curious if a tube tuner added to the sound at all. Sorry about all the tube questions but I'm used to living in the Home Theater forum. Craig

paulparrot, your absolutely right, but I'm just trying to get some opinions, being that the Eico and ST-70 are my first tube expieriences and I'm so Impressed. I just wanted to know what else was out there. I bought from Craig after frequenting the 2 Channel forum, never even seen a tube amp before was a big risk, but after reading all your guys post's I thought what the hell, I could always sell them here. I think I lucked out with Craig also, because If he hadn't been wanting to purchase a pair of Mk III he probably would have never sold them to me. Craig

Being completley new to tubes, I don't know. I mean yes I want Phono for sure, I suppose tone controls would be nice, but I don't use them with my Eico yet. Right now I have my CD player, MD,and TT hooked up to the Eico. I guess I don't know much about filters either. I was Just wondering what would or does compare to the Scott. I'm asking because Craig said the Scott would be a step up from my Eico. Craig
-
We'll most of you know I'm running the Eico HF-85 and Dynaco ST-70 both rebuilt by NOSvalves. Anyway I've been seeing so much talk about the Scott pre-amps and how great they sound but they seem to be very hard to find. So I was just wondering If you could suggest some newer Tube pre-amps that might fit the bill? Is there a sub $500 pre-amp that would match we'll with the ST-70 and soon my Cornwalls that I'm still waiting for. I'm happy with what I have I was just wondering If I can get a new pre-amp that rivals the Scott for about the same or less money. Craig

He says there being shipped in bouble 600 PSI strenght cardboard boxes. There going UPS Ground. He did ship them on Friday Craig, but had to go out of town, when he got home UPS was calling to tell him they were oversized and wouldn't ship them, that's what the delay was all about. Somehow he convinced them to ship anyway. I'm not sure what a 600 psi strength cardboard box is but he assures me there really thick. I don't know what kind of connections the speakers have on the back. Craig -

Help me find a good Scott pre- and maybe we can work out some kind of parts and labour deal for the Eico you've already tweaked. Craig -

Craig6519 replied to kjohnsonhp's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
So which Scott Pre would be better than MY HF-85 with ST-70 combo? All of them which models? Thanks. Craig -
Thats exactally what I'd like to do but I still need to buy the heritage surrounds and center. I haven't even heard the corwalls yet, but I was thinking exactally like you. Buy the way how do you like the 1050 as a HT reciever? Craig

I to think that If your gonna be a seller and I'm paying you, then yes you should keep me informed on a daily basis! Especially If it's over $1,000. Anyway I'm relieved to recieve an e-mail from him today saying he's been out of town and that's why he hadn't replied, great If I would have know this I wouldn't have been so worried. Craig

Ok Thanks everybody, Do you think It's safe to start holding my breath now? Craig
