$150 for the pair? That is fantastic. My JBL speaker tech does my JBL's grills for $50 each including cloth. IMHO the Klipsch grills are so much better than the JBL grills in every way. I personally have never needed to do a repair on a Klipsch grill. Having fabric options as decorators is very appealing though.

Yeah for sure. The only scare is shipping your grills and hoping they don’t get damaged on their way there or in return with their pretty new cloth. They charge $25 ea also for the pie badges but I think they’re much cheaper directly from Klipsch parts unless the price for them has gone up.

***BTW -  i should note that the person i spoke with via email said they don't have the Chorus II moldings anymore and that i'd have to ship my grills to them to do it.  I assume because of not even bringing it up, that they don't sell the cloth on its own by the yardage. It seems they can make you grills from scratch if they have the molding for the grill frame still, otherwise why mention that they don't have it anymore for the Chorus II?  Maybe i'll beat you to it @314carpenter or someone else who reads these posts and i or they send their Chorus II grills and then Duracrest will have the molding again to make them from scratch so you or anyone in the future can keep your stock grills aside and order completely new grills with choice of cloth?

I'll be selling my oak Chorus II to help fund this purchase.

I've given up on my search for WO CHII. Never seen anything other than Oak Oiled or Black here in Houston, although i do think CHII look bad *** in all black. Was thinking for a long while about veneering mine in Walnut b/c that's my favorite speaker veneer, but will just repair mine and keep them black more than likely.  Congrats on the purchase! You should hit up Duracrest and see about the lambswool  grills they make for Klipsch speakers ie Forte III.   I think that'll look really good with the darker/slightly red in tone Oiled Walnut on your new pair. I believe you can send them the grills and they will apply the new lambswool for $150. $125 for the silver luster which is the option I'm thinking about for my black Chorus II!  Pretty damn good prices considering you get the official cloth instead of trying to match it with a different brand and it ends up costing near the same for the cloth and still have to apply it yourself.

  3. Just picked them up. They definitely look original and grey with no gloss. Weird how they looked off white/yellow and glossy in the photos. I’ll take some pics in a moment before opening it up and getting in to be 100% certain.

He did have a lot of stuff. He’s got a collection of tons of speakers and receivers. Massive Sansui stereos. Has no idea they were so big in person. He had them all wrapped up though. Lost his house in the hurricane and lost 8 pairs of speakers too so they’re all stuffed in his brothers garage.

No idea what any of these speakers are though

Most likely they realized that there wasn't nearly as big of a market as somebody had originally thought, plus all that active stuff has more warranty issues.  They were going to build it in Hope too, which is already pretty much maxed out.  They've put their efforts into promoting the heritage stuff more instead.

Bet you "none" are identical ... pretty sure they are "lined up" manually :D

lol possible, but from my own and other photos I've seen, the screws line up to where there are 2 screw holes parallel from each other at the top whereas on FIIIs, there is a single screw hole at the center top for which the dust cap lines up with.  Tilting it will keep the logo off center so new holes do have to be drilled. I could be wrong and it's really not that big of a deal. I ended up not purchasing a pair myself because i tried the Moray James mod of adding 2.5oz to my passives since 1 was torn all the way across and reglued. It's ugly, but it works and i love the mod.  If i lost any efficiency, i can't notice. I'll eventually get the new passives after i do the crossovers and experiment with the Ti mid diaphragms everyone seems to either hate or love.

  8. Looks like he has some interesting speakers in the backround too...what are they?

Not sure about those particular speakers in the background but his name is Vintage JBL and he has a 5 Star rating as a seller with 30 ratings.

As far as the Heresy II woofers. He had 2 pairs identical. Which kind of makes things slightly more suspicious as in all 4 speakers were reconed or replaced woofers or all 4 were in the same owners home and were all equally discolored over time?

  9. I use HDMI from my NVIDIA GTX970 card to a Marantz SR7007 and change my settings to 24/192 resolution and disable all enhancements. Mostly run the Marantz in Pure Direct mode, but now and then turn on the sub with stereo mode. The DAC in the SR7007 is pretty good, but i don't think it's DSD capable and i have a lot of SACD rips that i guess are only playing up to 24/192.  I would like to see what the big hoopla is about asynchronous USB to a separate high quality DAC.

I believe optical cable only does CD, 16/44 resolution.  Could be wrong about that. Maybe 24/96 resolution.
