  1. Hi all, will the timeline function be restored, I really miss it? Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hello all, Can anyone help me with finding the T/S parameters for the K-63-K tweeter, I emailed Klipsch, and they were less than helpful. I'm looking for a suitable replacement, and I'd like to match the sensitivity as close as I can. Thanks, Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi rbrown, could you elaborate on your impressions of the hk 3700? What speakers are you listening with? I am planning on using it as a pre amp on the mains. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Hello all, So, after buying two pairs of Epic CF-3s, I was again looking on CL, and there was a pair of KG 5.2s for sale locally, so local, we live on the same street, went and checked them out, 9/10 cosmetically, a small amount of sun damage, nothing some light sanding and some fresh oil can't fix, $300, I think I did ok. Also got a SC-1 for $30 too. Now, I get them hooked up in the bedroom, where I planned to put them, streaming flac files off of my PS3 into my Onkyo TX-NR 709, as a pre for my Adcom GFA 555 II, man, it was sounding good. Was cranking some AC/DC, Hells Bells, then some Steely Dan, Aja, sounded great, if not a bit forward, so I went into the menu settings, was working on tweaking the sound when all of a sudden it turned itself off, into standby mode, hmmm. So, I hit the power button, and I hear a high pitched whistle sound, and that's when the magic blue smoke came out of the top of the AVR [emoji20][emoji35][emoji37]. I only gave $200 for the Onkyo, but I got less than two years out of it. And considering that the main HDMI port on my other Onkyo, a TX-NR 809, quit working, I think I'm done with Onkyo. Within five minutes I found a Pioneer Elite SC 68 on CL, he's asking $350. I can get a brand new Harmon Kardan, with wifi, etc for $400 on Amazon, gonna have to sleep on it. BTW, the guy that sold me the KGs, also has a Parasound HCA 2200 mk1, that looks brand new, for $300, I think it's going to be coming home with me, I know it's not the mk2, but it's still a John Curl. So my morning will be busy swapping out the AVR for my old Sony, but at least the wife will get to hear the new speakers. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Hello all, As if one pair of CF-3s weren't enough, I bought a second pair today, they are series one, almost a 9/10 condition in black. The bad, owner says one tweeter doesn't work. The good, I bought two un-used K-63-KNs in the deal. I'm feeling pretty good right now. I'm not sure what direction I'm going in with them. I think I might swap the tweeters out of my series twos for now, as I really want to hear the series ones, and since I was planning on doing a re-veneer on the series twos, I might go ahead and do a full mod on those. If there are any other CF-3 owners that have done any worthwhile modifications to any series two speakers, I'd love to hear about them. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. "A good question about what music does one listen to is "what's in your CD player right now?" Yes, 90125. "Owner of a lonely heart", for me anyway, is a good track for sound evaluation, Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Hi jweber, you asked what kind of music I listen to, it's easier to say what I don't, I don't care for most country, metal, or rap, most of what's left over I like, I'm definitely not a snob when it comes music, but I like anything that's dynamic and musical, Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I was thinking about getting a Van Alstine pre amp, but haven't talked to anyone who has heard one, he has a new one that has a purely tube circuit for under a grand. Kinda pricey for me, but if it'll make a huge improvement, it'll be worth it, Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hi jweber, I got the avr cheap on cl, it doesn't suck too bad, but I have been thinking of going with a tube pre amp, or one of the good Mac pre's. But I'm open for suggestions. I don't have very deep pockets, so I pretty much have to scrounge for good deals on cl and eb. Since these are so rough, I've got to come up with a plan of attack, and decide if I want to mod them or not, since the vinyl on one one the front baffles is ripped, don't think I can restore them to factory spec, so maybe I'll go whole hog. New veneer, custom paint for the front, internal bracing, longer ports and a change in the crossover to series one spec. Again, suggestions are welcome. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hello all, so, I couldn't find my inspection mirror, was out, was going by the hardware store, picked up a new one, got home, looked inside, guess what I found, clear insulated wire, so they appear to be series TWO! I couldn't be happier. Still trying to get them dialed in, but I'm getting close. I may be having issues with the placement, but I don't much choice. They have a much different sound than what I had, in a very good way. I'll keep you posted as to my progress, Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Hi Dr Morbius, I have them hooked up to a Bryston 4B, using my Onkyo AVR as a pre amp, I have two Adcom GFA 555IIs on hand, I had originally thought I would run them both bridged, that might be overkill. derriskdj1, they are tiny solo cup party lights left over from a party. 19. In place and hooked up, tweeters are just above my seated ear height. Haven't got them balanced yet, but they sound great so far. [emoji2] Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. USNTET, I took that photo of a Blue Angel at the air show at McDill, before they stopped doing it there. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Hello all, thanks for the warm welcome! I can't wait to get these hooked up to my system. I like both two channel as well as my 7.2 set up. I use my Onkyo TX-NR 809 as a pre amp for my Bryston 4B, connected to my mains. Eventually I'd like to get a dedicated pre amp, but for now, this will do. I'm planning to set the CF-3s on top of my subs, where I currently have my mains, if that proves to be too tall, I'll have to build a set of stands to lower them. I'm waiting to get some help to pick them up, as they are quite heavy. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I'm usually posting and lurking over on PE TT. I saw an ad on CL for a pair of Epic CF3s, I had never heard of them before, so after doing some research , I went and picked them up, they were a little rough, need to be refinished, but the drivers are spotless, and after listening to them for a few minutes, I was very willing to give the guy $400 for them. I'm not sure if they are series two or three, gotta find my inspection mirror to check the wiring, the SN has faded to the point that it is no longer legible. Either way, they do sound nice. Tomorrow I'll get them hooked up to my system, can hardly wait. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
