I consider Nelson to be the premier amplifier designer for the last few decades if you mean hero.
I hold him in high regard as well. Plus, he's genuinely a nice guy.

I'm new to this forum but have followed it for some time. All the way over here in Norway I discovered Klipsch Heritage and got myself some La Scala 2s. Also discovering they needed a little help in the lowest octaves I built 2 THTLP Fitzmaurice horn subs. These I crossover at 92.5hz and they blend seamlessly with the LS. Really happy with this combo. Hope your Table Tubas worked out as well. Hopefully this first post will get me in thouch with many good people here
TWO of them! Wow.

Yes. Some players do this. Look for a feature called "normalize volume".
Alternatively, you can use a utility that will look at all of the tracks and normalize their volume so that they are the same no matter what player.

so just one it looks like.....

I do like the padding though in case you have to bang your head.
And the cap crimper in the back. Not many people know that secret.

You might want to post this in Garage Sale. Good luck with your sale and I'm sorry it didn't work out.

I have mine on about an 11 foot wall and they sound great. I'm certain they could sound better, but I have no other choices right now.

I'd try an Lpad on at least one Khorn, as a one, last ditch, effort.
Is there a way to wire it so it just turns down the K55 midrange, and leaves the Tweeter alone?
Yes, there is. Get a 16 ohm L-pad and put it between the squawker driver and the squawker terminals on the crossover.
-
I looked up what L-pads are, and I am intrigued, b/c it looks like these regulate -- impedance? -- do I have that right? One measure so far that made a significant impact was changing from 4 ohms to the 8 ohm taps: BIG improvement from washy to focused sound. Is it possible L-pads could tame mid frequencies in the 1500-4000 Hz range?
An L-pad would allow you to attenuate the signal while not changing the impedance seen by the amplifier.
Yes, they could certainly help you with the squawker level if introduced at that point in the circuit.
Did you change the tap on the transformer yet? That would allow you to adjust it somewhat with the hardware you already have.
Maybe someone that knows more than I do will chime in here.... -
Thank you for posting this.

I got three and they arrived in perfect condition. It did take a while, but worth the deal.

How this thread is very technical.....sorry too much for me.
So for my 1990 Khorns what impedance should i choose ? 4 or 8 ohms ? on my Almarro 318 B ?
Thank you for your help
I would choose the one that sounds the best.
I get tinny sound on the 8 ohm tap on my amp with Khorns. Tha 4 ohm tap sounds great. YMMV -
Good luck, that is scary.

Pair K Horns, 1965 (I think, not sure how to date)
1965 would be a "C" in the serial number. What do you show?

I use my phone and TIDAL music streaming for 90% of my music.
I currently use RCA to 3.5mm ...... is this the best option for phone use or is there a better option. I feel like BT would have some data loss as opposed to being hard wired although i don't know that for sure.
Also....I currently have my amplifier set at about 50% volume and use my phone to adjust the volume. Do you feel as though this is ok or should i set my phone at max and adjust with integrated amplifier's volume control.....or doesn't it matter.
Thank you.
Using your phone and 3.5mm headphone to RCA means that you're limited by the quality of the amplifier in the phone. I suspect that the noise floor of that phone amp isn't good either.
You probably cannot run your phone at max. That's a powered output and you'll easily overdrive the input of your amplifier.
You might consider Roon + Tidal.

I have more "stuff" than I know what to do with. Do need to try the DAC one of these days though.
Ok, I can arrange that, and it seems I owe you a fuseholder too.

I have some old Kyocera gear from the late 1980's, mainly a receiver / amp and a tape deck. I threw the CD player away years ago and wish I hadn't. I need to get the receiver recapped and see how it sounds. It sounded fine back in the day.
