My wife got mad that I didn't get her involved in my last purchase, not mad about the speakers, she just likes to be involved, so I need to impose self control.  I have rationalized too many speakers, can't make any more excuses.

My wife gets involved in my purchases. She travels with me, helps out in evaluation of what she hears, helps in determining when I am being overzealous and reaching beyond our living space and budget. Keeps me out of trouble and brings us both closer together. Not that she is into the audio scene, but she does like to be involved just like you said. If she is not interested, she leaves it up to me. I do not have to have any discussion with her on this item though. There is no way it fits into my future either.

My 250s had the woofers re foamed by the place in LA about 15 years ago and they are still in really good shape.

Really?  I was not aware you owned them too. Are you willing to share a pic of your 250's. 😍 Mine are 250Ti.

The woofer vent port foam repair requires removing the dust cap and pushing the foam plug from the inside out. A fine mesh screen (like the type used in a faucet aerator) replaces the original foam plug so no worries of deterioration down the road on that part. The foam was there just to keep trash out of the driver.

  3. I have done the JBL diaphragm rebuilding myself. Need to do another 12 tweeters though. Not overly difficult, does requires patience, a steady hand, and don't make a mistake or you're SOL.

F&)$!ng JBL foam is all over the place in them and all of it needs to be addressed. Woofer surrounds, woofer magnet vent ports, and tweeter diaphrams. Plus the cabinets constuction, finishes, grills, and fabric are sh!t. Sound fantastic though. There are better out there.

  4. In my experience the math will only get you close. For a perfect finish make a practice piece and template from that. Make sure you cut you miter joints at exactly the same angle no matter what. Cut it long and then....Fit,cut,fit,cut,fit,cut,etc.

  5. What you are looking for is the L100T3 with the modified crossover and 035tia tweeter. The crossover mod on the L100T3 removed the glare, edge, and bite while retaining a vary balanced and smooth even response from 30Hz-27KHz.

You will not be able to swap tweeters to non titanium jbl without redesigning the tweeter portion of the crossover.  For that you would do your own work, and get information from Lansing Heritage.

Wait....wait....my crystal ball is getting clearer................ I see..............new speakers in your future.

Where are you located Ron? What system components are you using? What sort of room?

I know this isn't a question about Klipsch but there much more activity here than on other forums. My question is, are there any good replacements for

the 035Ti in the JBL L100T? I still have the ones that came out and have bought those $69.00 knockoffs ( which sound pretty good) I don't really want to buy

another pair of 035ti that is decades old and will or needs repair. Wondering if there is anything out there today that would fit the bill, don't care if it is textile dome or what not.

In fact I would prefer not going back with a Titanium tweeter...;Many thanks

I own a dozen or more of 035Ti/a in various JBL speakers. What questions do you have?

    Are you referring to this?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-035TIA-Tweeter-Speaker-Replacement-Parts-L7-35198/192823964420?hash=item2ce5343304:g:5P4AAOSwO7pcY5au:sc:USPSPriority!53932!US!-1

    that you replace with this

    https://www.simplyspeakers.com/replacement-speaker-jbl-tweeter-t-035tia.html

And now you would like to buy brand new, or newer speakers that are non titanium? If so, then the usual response is another question. What is your budget?

  7. Maybe I should remove the ad, as the seller would most likely posted here if he wanted to share it with the rest of the crew here.

EDIT: No problem seller appreciates the attention

I do not know the history, but I would assume the seller is definitely someone at least a few here are familiar with. I was just trying to help anyone here with the proper motivation get something they might have otherwise missed.

  8. I just listened to the Klipsch RP-8000F last night for the first time. Not with the RF7II/III. I thought they were very capable good sounding speakers with ample bass, However they were unable to keep up with the very large space they were used in. Approx. 25 x 20 x 14 with a huge suck-out of an adjacent dinning room/kitchen opening. This was with massive amplifier and SVS PB 16 Ultra sub providing support. Sometimes physics gets in the way. We have to play within the laws of the universe.

  10. CLASSE CAV-150

    N0.278

Think Krell or Mark Levinson quality but warmer and very tube like. Some say too dark, but with titanium loaded Klipsch horns, I don't think I will have any issues with that in my already bright room. This should be exactly what the doctor ordered. And It only cost me one Klipsch sub, one Klipsch Academy center, and one Onkyo AVR. Would have been much more costly had I went with with the other warm sounding amps many others here use. Looking at you McIntosh.😉

That are other ways how the spreadsheet might be used.  Anyone who has studied it (Chorus II in Good Condition for instance) can see there are over ten sales of Ch2's $600 or less.  They can also see the last three sales are 750, 850, 800.  They can also see my detailed notes showing Ch2's which have an advertised price of $1250 do not sell.  They may also see there are no sales within 4 hours of their particular geographical area.

They might also see an advertisement for Chorus II's for $800, and a pair of La Scalas for $800.  The spreadsheet can also help a buyer determine relative value.  Many people have asked that exact question, "which would you buy..." for the same amount of money?

The numeric average doesn't tell anybody what a particular speaker is worth, it tells you how the price fits into others who have bought similar speakers.  A numeric average is a point on a range.  Any used speaker, any NEW speaker is worth whatever a willing Seller and a willing Buyer can agree on.

    Deals are out there.  B)

Well said. Thanks for adding. Love those facts you added. I was not aware you had notes on the time frames of certain listings. I do know when prices reach a ceiling they will not sell, and when they are low, they fly off the shelf. And I am not picking on you at all or the research you have done. I value greatly what you do.  Hoping we get more experiences and feedback on the subject. All opinions are welcome.

  12. All I am trying to say is if you are in line to purchase a pair of good condition Chorus II in good condition, and you are only willing to pay $750 or less, and you are NOT THE VERY FIRST PERSON TO CONTACT, you will probably be dead before you get a pair, again UNLESS YOU ARE FIRST. In my opinion sellers are leaving tons of money on the table and have been for years by not allowing the market to dictate final pricing. Right or wrong, this is my opinion based on my own research. I have called every single listing in my area for several years now have been first twice.

I rarely buy or sell according to that tracker and pay it little attention.

Simply for greater clarity for all who are reading the thread. My research has been primarily through craigslist listings throughout the CONUS, audiokarma, usaudiomart, audiogon, avsforum, and anything I can find on hifishark. I look through our Klipsch forums, but that is the last place I ever find these listed, other than alerts, or a few randoms.  I am definitely not basing any of my information on what happens on ebay, or private retailers listings. Also I have not including postings on letgo, facebook marketplace, or any social media outlets.
