  1. Well...I can think of no better Christmas present!😊
  2. As an audio-pup, I remember being impressed when hearing the different drivers of a speaker (woofer, tweeter, etc.) as distinct sound sources. I thought that was cool. This would probably have been the speakers that came with my first compact, "all-in-one" Realistic stereo...the "Clarinette 85"...or something like that. Now I'm much more sophisticated. I think it's cool when sounds seem to come from outside the plane of the speakers.😆😎🤓
  3. I can't say I've got a sonic preference when it comes to 2-way vs. 3-way or more. I just like what sounds best. When sticking to debates over the theoretical though, I suppose I would prefer a two-way. Well actually, the best crossover would be no crossover at all. Bring on the Bosehorn!😁
  4. I received ebay order confirmation at 2:47PM on July 31. The tracking shows much more sitting and trailer-changing than it does actual moving. While in Chicago they were transferred from one trailer to another 2 or 3 times. I'm thinking now they're probably gonna sit in St. Lou over the weekend. But like I said in previous post, as long as I eventually get to pick them up in Baxter Springs, KS, undamaged and in perfect working order, I'll be OK with it all. I'm not losing any sleep over it; just sharing the experience, warts and all. These days everybody is blaming everything on the covid. Maybe that's legit. Maybe not. I just hope my speakers don't get sucked into any of those "black holes".😲
  5. I don't think I've heard any 4-way JBL's. But then, I don't get out much. I've always been in the "less is more" camp, personally. Unless the subject is speakers....or sex (then)...or Cheetos (now).
  6. Here's one. PWK in front of his 2-way horn.
  7. For those of you keeping score, Yours Truly is still patiently waiting for the arrival of his cherry cornwall fours from "The Sound Seller" in Marinette, WI. This is day 7 of my guaranteed 3-day Fast'N Free delivery. When last I checked, they were supposedly sitting in a trailer in St. Louis, MO. They are now saying delivery to Baxter Springs, KS will occur on Monday August 10th. Take your time, boys! As long as they arrive undamaged and functioning properly, I'll be happy, happy, happy!
  8. Somewhere, there's a picture of PWK standing in front of the as-it-then-stood klipschorn II, or Jubilee. Pretty cool, I thought at the time. Now Crites markets a 2-way variant of his "cornscala" (is that word still allowed here?🤫) So, if Crites can do a cornwall clone as a 2-way, I know klipsch could. Whether they would want to is another question. I think all the Heritage models could be redone as two-ways without getting away from the PWK spirit of the design. True enough, many potential buyers would view it as an economizing move, which might be partially true, but I think the goal would be better sound via a simpler crossover. Didn't Einstein once say that things "should be made as simple as possible but not simpler than possible"?🙂
  9. No, not as entrance models. My point is, if PWK thought a two-way could be good enough for the Jubilee, then why not for the rest of the line? There certainly are those who hold to the idea of the two way as being potentially better sounding than three-ways. Of course, arguments can be made either way.
  10. In light of the fact(?) that PWK aspired to build and market a 2-way klipschorn and that Klipsch will indeed offer such a design as the "Jubilee", what would the community think of all the other models in the Heritage family eventually being redesigned as 2-ways? Could it happen? Would it be a win-win or would there be a downside? Just one of those things I like to ponder in my nerdy old age.🤓
  11. Yup, dual 10's can hit like a jackhammer!😎
  12. Congrats! What finish are they? What's the rest of the system?
  13. My first exposure to klipsch would have been in the mid-70's at "The House of Sound" in Springfield, MO. I'm sure I'd never even heard of them until then. Back then, "Heritage" was all klipsch made (but it wasn't called "Heritage" yet). One wall of the House of Sound's main room always had a pair of klipschorns flanking a pair of la scalas and/or belles, which in turn flanked a pair of cornwalls and heresy's. Now it's 45 years later and I've owned all the Heritage models at one time or another: cornwalls, k-horns (AK3), heresy II's, a single belle, la scala II's and soon, cornwall IV's. It's been fun, for sure! I'm planning for my cherry C4's to be my last ride...and I'm looking forward to it!
  14. Sorry. I'll try to keep my hand-wringing to myself.🙂
  15. To be clear -I don't have the problem! I haven't even got my speakers yet. I'm just going thru my normal (for me) post-purchase anxiety ("What have I done? What if this? What if that?"). I've seen a few mentions of these problems but I have no idea how prevalent they are or if they've been resolved by Klipsch. I'm guessing it's a very minor thing and already in the rear-view mirror.
  16. Congrats on the new RF82 II's. That's one heckuva bargain. Gotta be one of the best values in speakers right now. Tell me, do you know how the RF-82 II came to be resurrected in the Klipsch line? Did they discover some NOS in a warehouse somewhere? Regardless of the how and why, enjoy!
  17. Has anyone felt like their new Klipsch Heritage speakers suffered from these conditions? I've seen a couple of YouTube video reviews that mentioned these things, specifically regarding AK5 Klipschorns, Heresy III's and Cornwall IV's. Just wondering.
  18. I love the veneer on the cherry LS AL5 (and H4, too), so if my CW4 looks like that, I'll be super thrilled. I'm not going to lose any sleep over my amp situation. I've never owned tubes so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. I used a 140W Luxman A/B amp with my '85 cornwalls and they sounded great. My Parasound is probably a better amp than the Luxman was so I think all will be well.
  19. I've never seen the "natural cherry" other than pictures but that's what I ordered. My equipment cabinets are all a medium oak (CWD). I hope they look OK together. I had a hard time picking between the cherry and the walnut. I prefer the cherry for sure if it looks like Klipsch pictures of the La Scala AL5 and the RF-7 III. But if it looks too orange like some of the new CW4 pics on Klipsch' web site, ...😟 Either way, they ain't goin' nowhere. I intend for this to be it for me as far as major speaker purchases. 😇
  20. I was considering Crites Style B (🤫..."Cornscala's") myself, but chickened out for fear I'd ruin them trying to finish them, or else never be happy with my finish job. I'm only 4 hours from Russellville, AR, so it would have been an easy drive. Resale also factored in. Not that I forsee selling them, but when I'm gone, my wife or kids may want to.
  21. I'm sure I'll like them, too. I had a pair of cornwalls from '85 to '93. Selling them was the biggest audio mistake I ever made and I knew it the night the buyer came to pick them up.😧
  22. Thanks. I just talked to Ron from the Sound Seller and he is trying to find a freight terminal close to me. We have an XPO Logistics close by but they don't use them. Looks like it'll be Joplin, MO for pickup, which is fine with me as it's just an hour away. He said he has a couple of options there. As for amplification, it'll be my Parasound 2250 v.2. Probably not the hot ticket for Cornwall's but it's the best I have on hand. At least I won't be lacking for power.😄
  23. Hello Forum Members, I haven't been very active in this or any other audio forums for quite a while, but I thought I would share this. I just bought a pair of cherry Cornwall IV's from "Ronco21" on Ebay. They are B-stock but the only "flaw" listed is minor scuffs on the outer shipping box. They should be delivered sometime the middle of next week. I'm looking forward to getting back in the Klipsch Heritage fold after a 12-yr. absence. Here's hoping for smooth sailing ahead!🥂 ...and here's another one (or two) to everyone staying healthy, happy and covid-free! 🥂🥂
  24. I myself could be seriously tempted by a nice pair of B-stock C4's in walnut or cherry! I could also be tempted by a pair of III's if the price was right, which so far from what I've seen, it never is.
