  5. The actual order of events went like this: Cleaned out the ferrofluid in all three tweeters reusing OEM diaphragms – no discernible difference. Installed Crites Ti diaphragms in cleaned drivers – much brighter with more detail/clarity. Installed new ferrofluid with Crites Ti's – tamed the Ti's just a little while keeping the openness and detail/clarity.
  6. Cleaned out and replaced the ferrofluid in the tweeters - then replaced it with new. I must say there is a difference, most notably in the klf-c7. It wasn't anywhere nearly as diffract to remove the old ferrofluid as it has been described by some. Just used post-it sticky notes as Crites mentions on his web site to clean out the gap, you would use say ten per 1” driver to get it all out. The replacement fluid came from PE & the kit also came with some blotting paper for cleaning, used one piece to check how clean the other method was and found nothing was left behind.

  9. Welcome, as for elevating your Chorus IIs - there would be no problem.

  11. Have you considered raising the overall height of the forte 1s? Don't recall if yours still have the factory ~2” risers or not. I used some old VHS tapes under my forte IIs to experiment.

  16. Upon closer inspection the forte IIs do have some kind of plastic grill frames as some had stated. As for the klf's, there frames are made of some king of fiber material coated with something that MIGHT be waterproof. There was a section that had this coating chipped off so I will not do any kind soaking or extended exposure to water. Thanks for all off your replies

  18. When you did the 9v test was it disconnected from the crossover? Here is a shop that will both re-cone & sells kits to re-cone.. https://reconingspeakers.com/ They are an authorized Klipsch service center.
  19. I can see how the stamped baskets can 'ring' when in free air but I am curious. Since you will already have the passive & woofer out - place each face down on a flat surface to simulate being mounted. Using slight pressure pushed down on the magnet tap the stamped basket to see how much 'ringing' you get out of them.
  20. What an amazing coincidence that this could neither be proved or disproved.
