I did the 4th way - Gel Stain-> Toner-> Sealer

I didn't treat it first. The video I watched shows him using that conditioner. Here is the video:

I've had these Cornscalas for about a year and have been too intimidated to try staining them. Being stuck at home a lot I decided to go for it. There is a youtube video that I watched that showed baltic birch being stained with gel stain and then a toner added to it. These have plenty of imperfections, but are leaps better than they were before. I wish hadn't waited so long.
