I hear ya and understand what you are saying. I go by what they sound like to my ears. I really liek the heresy IIIs and think they are phenomial speakers. As such, no surprise I really like the cornwall IIIs in spite of the baby horn. A nice pair of Cornwalls IIs with crossover already done (or not) would fit the bill nicely.

Yes, different system. I've always been fond of Cornwalls. Cornwalls IIs I prefer over 1s and IIIs are pricey for a second system. They excel at low volumes full range. Price is also right. Someone can have a killer sub and rehome Cornwalls they don't want or aren't using.

Will trade for a pair of nice Cornwall IIs (plus cash on your end if needed, depending on deal)

They are, with quality unclipped watts. Smooth, unless your audio file is not.

Thank you Kenny. I thin you will love them. The Legacy Audio speakers thay replaced the 396s cannot match them as would be expected in several categories. Getting used to the differences.

Going back and reading, it sounds like you do have the room to allow LA scalas space in between speakers. If you run the 19' wall, is that then 10' of depth? Guessing based on one pic and room dimensions given. La scalas don't plumb the depths either and would still require a sub for what you claim you want ("below 50 hz"). And you have a sub already....

Some, including myself in that situation may say that's what subwoofers were created for.

You don't think the LA scalas would be basically touching each other in that room or only a couple feet apart? Reason I stated what I did.

Oh. No, enjoy those speakers! Others may chime in, @jimjimbo may share his thoughts on the heresy IIIs. I'm telling you they are damn good and if you like them, keep them. They are very impressive speakers IMO, especially in that space from the looks (I can tell by the rack in between and the dog the "scale" ). Forte IIIs in there will be a mistake IMO with the glare in the upper mid/ lower treble and the spacing in between the speakers being so close will make thay obnoxious. Cornwalls and larger won't have space in between either. You have got the right speakers in there IMO unless you really hate them for some reason after placement and or component experimentation.

I have done that in the past with phenomial results as well, but this time around I'm going single amp and gonna give this step one a go before I automically resort to that once again. Sounds like you did something crossover wise in addition? Waiting on all new cables I ordered to redo all connections in the system.

I'm late to the game here and I didn't read all the comments by any means, but I really think in that room, heresy placement needs a lot more experimentation. Those are damn good speakers in my opinion and I could happily live with them as my only speakers, even without a sub. I'll take a quick look back at what you didn't like as I'm curious now.
