  1. Supposedly 80hz and below is omni directional.  I would think crossing over at 100 hz in a tuba might be boomy? The lower the subs are crossed over and you are satisfied with impact, punch, depth and so on the easier they will be to integrate with the speakers without drawing too much attention to themselves.   Some people prefer that though.  

  2. In the past it would have been. Efficiency is a beautiful thing.  The choice of amps becomes endless and quality is easily placed before quantity at much better prices.   Long live Klipsch.  For a pro system I had prior that was biamped, I had FOUR Crown Macro Reference amplifiers.  That system was something to hear and feel, quality and quantity wise.  

  3. Couch closer to back wall or speakers closer to front wall has the same effect on the bass, enforcing it.  Pulling listening position and or seating away from the walls, may give you CRAZY imaging, but the bass will suffer.  There is always a balance. Near field listening is usually awesome on smaller monitors / speakers but isn't my preference for larger speakers
