  1. I wish I could say all amps, receivers etc sound the same, it would make life easier, but in my experience especially with Klipsch Chorus II's and Quartets and various Magnepans I can always count on the amp/receiver to have an effect on the sound. I loved the looks of my (both now departed) Proton AA-1150 and D-1200 amps with the big beautiful green power meters but not the sound compared to others. And there were others that failed to impress, mostly forgotten now, guess I'd post this just to have an excuse to show off one of my favorite looking pieces of audio art.
  2. You might try a free software called Shrink Pic, runs in the background - it'll shrink the picture on the fly when you upload it, based on your settings.
  3. Don't know about now, they did when I bought them from Klipsch about 4 years ago, cost about $116 shipped for the pair.
  4. Haven't done anything to the cabinets, will let the "patina" remain for now, these are my office speakers. I only paid $350 for them, but did buy new grills from Klipsch that you see in the pics because the originals were trash. That helped a bit. Did maybe overpay for a pair of Quartets for the house, but those are in mint condition. (Funny that spellcheck here wants to replace "Klipsch" with "Lipstick")
  5. Oh, so that's what it is, "patina". I'll remember that if I should ever sell my Chorus II's. (All I know is they had a rough life before I came to their rescue)
  6. Should have kept your Chorus II's! (Still have my Chorus II's, running them off of the Sunfire Ultimate Receiver you sold me a few years ago)
  7. While it's been maybe 20 years since I heard Klipsch KG speakers at a Home Entertainment store in Houston, and never heard Chorus I's, I have had Chorus II's for several years now and have to believe Chorus I's would be a nice step up in every aspect, right now it looks like nice condition Chorus II's are going for a bit more the $500 (closer to the $1,000 range here in Houston). I would think the sound signature for the I's and II's are similar, but hopefully someone who has heard both will comment.
  8. I think having Klipsch come out with the new Forte III's (at $3,600/pair) is causing a renewed interest in the older used Heritage speakers which don't cost near $3,600/pair. Forte and Chorus speakers seem to have increased in price in the past year, at least what I see here in Houston and on eBay. I think I contributed to it also, as I probably overpaid for a pair of mint Quartets I just bought.
  9. I have Chorus II's (no mods) in my very small office w tile floor and metal file cabinets (the worst listening conditions) in far West Houston.
