  1. Oh Man !!! I feel like such an idiot. For some reason I completed skip the "Connections to amplifier" instructions. I think I thought that section was associated with bi-amping so I just went right by it. I was still connecting the amp to the woofer section. I finally have everything straighten out and they sound great. Not just different, not just better, but they sound great !!! I won't even try to describe with words what thoses differnces are but I think I know what you guys have been talking about regarding sound stage opening up, depth, and all those other buzz words. I thought about doing this upgrade about 2 years ago. I was all set until I heard about messing with the woofer section. In hindsight, it was easy but back then I knew it was something that would trip me up. I know me. I can honestly say I'm glad I got these networks. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I just hate that I missed that better part of this holiday getting frustrated and pissed off and have no one to blame but myself. Live & learn.
  2. If you cut that yellow wire the input signal can not reach the network. That is my point.
  3. I repeat. If I cut the yellow wire as shown in PO15.jpg how can the input signal from my amp reach the woofer or the network? It can't. There is no path. In the picutre the bottom is for the audio input and the top is "To high frequency cabinet" / woofwer on the ALK. Right? Thanxxx.
  4. If I cut that yellow wire, there is no path for the positive side of the input (red, bottom plugs) to reach the network, which should and appears to result in no output/sound, right? Thanxxx in advance
  5. I had mine set up like that picture except for the cut part. It was working. I saw this post and your email that said cut that one yellow wire, so I did, and now it doen't work at all. Are you sure I'm suppose to make that cut? I did the other speaker without that cut and it is working. Since I made that cut on the first spoeaker and even removed that wire, now I need some of that yellow monster special wire. Is it really that special? If so where can I get some or what can I replace it with. Thanxxx in advance.
  6. My ALKs came today and I have a few questions. I am replacing Type AK-2. The connection to the woofer is confusing me. The instructions say: "Note: In the case of the Klipschorn, some newer Klipsch networks (AK-2 and AK-3) have the woofer capacitor and inductor located inside the woofer compartment door. THESE MUST BE REMOVED OR DISCONNECTED! The connections to the woofer terminals on the network must go directly to the woofer." Can someone please elaborate on this? First of all, how do you get the door off? I unscrewed the 8 screws but the door doesn't come off. Secondly, how do I remove or disconnect the capacitor & inductor? Sorry if these questions sound silly. I'm not stupid, just ignorant. Thanxxx in advance
  7. My ALK's are on the way. I'll install them first and then see about the rope thingy. Thanxxx. I was full steam ahead on an integrated tube amp, but I've decided to take my time and check out one thing at a time. Patience is not my best virtue but for once in my life, I'm excercising some. You know the many reason why? Lack of funds. Wierd....very wierd. Christmas sure aint helping.
  8. A picture is worth a thousand words. I never would have guessed. Thanxxx.
  9. Colin, Any chance you can provide a picture or two? I'm thinking about abouting trying this. Thanxxx in advance and have a nice holiday (to all).

  11. Your canes are sweet. Can you enlighten me on the plutonium speaker wires and tao rocks? My ALKs should be here in about 3 weeks. I hope to have an integrated tube amp by then too. Looking for something new, with subwoofer and headphone ouputs.
  12. Can someone please elaborate on the term "sealing your Klipschorn" Thanxxx
  13. drick, I've been fighting the urge to get the STRDA9000ES for about 3 months now. Did you also consider the 5000ES? If so can you tell me why you went with the 9000ES instead of the 5000ES? Not too many people here with heritage speakers seem to be very found of Sony AVRs.
