  1. Did you order 3 fried chickens and an order of dry white toast?
  2. You weren't wearing a shirt with your name? I used to do that... with a shirt that didn't have Bill on it... George or Mike ... and the folks wondered why I ignored them.
  3. that's the way I remember them. Used to drive by them on my weekly trip to Chicago. Wife got in touch with the gal that wanted the kittens. Notice past tense We have 2 kittens. Thanks?!? So... I am gonna be busy. At least we aren't feeding every 4hrs. Wife was funny last night. She went to the bar and had a couple pau hana drinks. 2 michiladas[sp?]. I put some old Beatles on. She was singing along. The louder the stereo, the louder she got.
  4. that's how we dealt with corked wine. We dinna carry a corkscrew. Ya know that a fifth of wine will fit in the front pocket of bib overalls ... and you can still ride a bicycle. I was a little younger... 40 years younger. Kittens are going today.... if we can get a hold of the gal that expressed interest. They're eating softened dry food and drinking water. Still like some formula... but, they are ready. We are momma bird to them. They will eat whatever we show them to eat. We got a little rain last night. Been raining crazy 15 mile east. Just running out of gas before it reaches us. We get a smell and wind. The nature of "the monsoon". Was the same way when I lived in Amado. Years when it seemed to rain all around. Not there. the Cadillac "sculpture" is east Amarillo Didn't know they moved it A little c/p Opened: 1974 Medium: Car Did you know: Cadillac Ranch was moved in 1997 from its original site along Interstate 40 to a new spot two miles west along the interstate. Drinking straight generic Mexican coffee.
  5. preface with... I/we live in an area that is referred to as "remote". Wife works 25 mile further out. Dry creek beds/washes. Bridge? Whatever for? We're lucky to get a culvert. Most of the roads parallel major washes. It can rain up in the hills and make trouble when it crosses the road en route to the "river" In the rainy season, there are "wash parties" while we wait for the flow to go down. It's a good idea to keep a little non-perishable food, water and some extra clothes in the car. You can get cold and hungry waiting. Not uncommon to take 4 hours for the road to get passable. They call the road passable well before that declaration would be made in the city. The Olds is a boat in more than one respect. One reason I keep it. It is proven in water. It can take a foot or more w/o ingesting it. The new car is not [to be' tried. Wife will stay in Sasabe first. The other 3 gals that work there have truck/4WD. She rides with them.
  6. Mornin' Folks was snappin' an' poppin' so close, last night, I was unplugging things Rain? Not here.1/4inch..... 2 - 4 inches around. Wife had to wait for roads to be cleared before she could get to work. She will head out at the first sign of rain. A little storm 20 miles away can stop the road. 40% chance of storms today. I think they got it right. Sun is out and getting warm. Glad it cooled down. Emptied the kiddie pool [toad too] and refilled it. The tap water was warmer than tepid. You could not take a cool shower warm. Have a dark/light blend of Mex and Kona this AM. Kittens are underfoot every step. And climbing now. I think there are ready to go. cute as... shrimp? not fond of all the fancy breadings. coconut? not for me. That doesn't even sound good. Tempura or beer batter is about as fancy as I go. On a skewer over flame for a few seconds is fine by me.
  7. because it is warm, I went to get wet in the "pool". Had company. One RiverToad... The thought of kissing it, hoping for a nubile, young princess crossed my mind.... However, that would be the only possible positive outcome. Chiapas.... Varietal Mexican.... Should be good.
  8. nah i was in a hurry bake... roll in the sauce ... serve. Was gonna dip, rebake and do the double dip... turned out to not be needed. There was enough zip on the outside to carry them. the hot sauce is Sambal Oelek. pretty good for commercial stuff. marinate was out. The wings weren't thawed when I put them in the oven.... next time! that cuke/onion salad is a great summer salad. Refreshing. I usually toss a little tomato in ... just for color.
  9. Mornin'/afernoon we have eclipsed red [on the weather maps] and are into fuchsia. It's bad when they run out of named colors for hot/ter. Made some Buffalo style wings last night. Was one of those, "What was the wife thinking when she bought this?" 5lbs of wings. Thought I had a tray of thighs when I pulled the package out from the freezer. Needless to say, there was a change in the menu. Boy didn't have to add hot to them. He broke a sweat and his lips went numb. Made a cuke and onion salad to chase them. Just cuke and onion in vinegar and oil dressing. Never made Buffalo wings before. Concocted a sauce of ketchup, mustard, hickory bbq sauce, vinegar nd some hot oriental salsa. That stuff tastes like hot bell peppers. must have been OK. 5 wings left
  10. more a blending of the 2. Never was a club hopper.
  11. She's too young for "old fart"... I did have a cat named Turd. Nobody wanted him. Hence, the name gonna be a warm one, today. 10`+ normal. That equals record high. And tomorrow. It's 65` atm. I could say the monsoon is turning into a "washout" this year... But, we wish for washout.... There is no such thing as "too much rain" down here.
  12. We have had the luxury of sugar. The Mexican made soda doesn't use [so much] HFCS. And not so sweet. American Coke and Pepsi are too syrupy. fwiw Mexican pastries aren't near as sweet as American made, either. That being said... I like Squirt. And I prefer CanadaDry ginger ale over Schwepp's. Schwepp's is too sweet for my taste.
  13. Maybe... doesn't matter. The cage is locked and key is lost
  14. isn't that a JimmyBuffet tune? guess that all I got up early for, was to make fresh coffee. Kittens ate big last night and aren't hungry at the moment. So, I get to watch them play. When we seek kitten/s... we usually get a pair. That way, they entertain each other... sort of. I crack up every time I see them bouncing sideways. We/I named them. Chuckie and Scooter. Both girls. Was NOT thinking of @Tarheel when Chuck was named. It just fit her. She's the kind that will stand in the middle of the food bowl and growl at everyone.... "It's MINE!!!" wife offered to wash my hair the other day. I blew it when I asked her if that includes the beard. Yeah... my back has been acting up. Not crippling, limiting tho. time to rattle wife's cage.
  15. @billybob do you have other cats? We do. Kittens get a mixed reception. Our house cat is good with them. She watches them. Does take afternoons off to snooze. One of our toms is OK with them. No help, but .....The others stay out/away/swat/hiss.
  16. we get 20in in a good year. Y'all get our annual in a couple days. Up on the north shore of Kauai, there is a place .. Wainiha.... 11inches over night. Fairly regular. Always amazed me that stuff stayed put on the mountain, for the most part.
  17. we weren't looking , either. I made the mistake of answering the phone. They had to go to the vet a couple time before we got them going. Good thing our vet works cheap. I think we are $50 into them. hey are you afloat? Was talking to a friend in Orlando. Said it's been raining "a little".
  18. on another forum, I was asked if I was Mexican after I commented, on the topic of "siesta", that only a white man would try to work through the heat of the day I could only answer, "Just honorary" actually, siesta is a farce. Work starts at 4 or 5AM. You have put in a day by the time we think of siesta.
  19. I have to settle for "good ol". The young are too fast.
  20. morning [?] all about ready to fledge these kittens. I'm exhausted. Be glad and sad to see them go. My legs are shredded from them learning to not climb them. Drawing blood, they are....And the early AM feedings.... I am normally up, but having to be up makes it all different. Getting tired and cranky. we figure they will be ready to go this time next week. The gal that brought them to us was inquiring about their progress. I presume she wants them. She is on/in the volunteer fire dept, so I hope she has time for them. good ol' Mexican in the pot today.
  21. ... but your truck is now dead and you drive a toyota
  22. Don't too much urging. Having stupid thoughts of using some alternate construction techniques to make a set of stationary horns of concrete... double as lawn sculpture. It will never happen... but I think about stuff like that. I'm trying to get a grip on horn dynamics and I am a "hands on learner". I can read tech stuff... don't really understand until I see/feel it in action. oh there's some Altec bins and horns for sale on Phoenix cl. The tops reminded me of @Tarheel's LaScaltecs spent an hour showing a friend how those little carbs on 2-stroke power equipment fail. I dislike power equipment repair... a lot. Did it for a couple years. I get sick when I smell stale gas. That is an associative thing. And the smell clings, just to remind you. I get the same feeling when I smell gear lube, too. Bowling alley --- gearbox repairs. As I've gotten older, I don't enjoy working on cars either.... especially if it's mine. and then I told my friend to get a carb for his weedeater and I would help him put it on.
  23. You put in "your time" getting these. Makes 'em all the better.
  24. from looking at brass horns, musical instruments, it appears that taper is fairly gradual. I imagine there are some taper ratios that would be beneficial in design. tubas are 16 -20 feet long..... thanks google
  25. I was thinking simple. 8ft long. Bell end 4 ft X 2 or 3ft tapered down to a 12 or 15in driver.
