  1. Vasubandu, My BIL introduced me to it. He was from Alabama don't know about chicory, except folks use it to flavor coffee, and it isn't my favorite. Mexican coffee can be roasted in a sugar glaze that caramelizes. That makes some intimidating looking coffee.
  2. I use my enameled roasting pan with a lid. I have to clean it up for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys Vasubandu, I have to agree about French roast. I call it pre-burned. It keeps on the stove w/o getting worse ... if that is a good thing HaHaHa I can't say I'm familiar with that Kona. I would buy Lappert's when it dropped below$25/lb ... It tasted like chocolate
  3. can't put it off any longer. I've been waiting for the coals to burn down in the stove, before I sweep the chimney. Not as low as I would like. "Out" for instance. Taking the baffles out is fun when they are hot. not.... And when the stove is hot, the creosote drafts up the chimney, and all over you, when you clean it. Sounds like a good way to get out of doing laundry.
  4. A friend and I went fishing one day. We had coffee at my place. A couple cups each. About a half hour down the road, he is cracking a beer. I commented about 4AM being a little early for that. He says, "Bill, I had to. I was about to jump outa my skin".. I feel the same. If I can see the bottom of the cup through an inch of coffee, it's gonna be a little weak...
  5. Musta been weak. Mine woulda left a hole in the metal. HaHaha Chicory is an acquired taste. I bet dtel would like RedSea from our roaster. It's a premium. Special ... dried with the cherry on the bean. Reminded me of chickory
  6. hey, y'all have any experience with AMTRAK shipping? oh oh Bill is getting bad ideas
  7. I have a burr mill, unfortunately, it's a hand crank. I can't do Starbuck's either. Just personal preference. I like my mud hot, strong and black. I bought a cup of SB last time I was in LAX. It was still in my hand when I got to Tucson. Might been a bogus batch. I couldn't drink it. dtel, you drink chicory coffee?
  8. our weather will be back to chamber of commerce after the golf tourney is over. I had things growing. See how it stood frost. you guys are making me want to brave that crappy midwestern weather and fetch up my stuff. Thank you and damn you at the same time. HaHaHa I'm running these little [hey kid, want some candy?] R15M's and trying to imagine an exponential leap in quality.

All of that came through here a couple day ago. Muted, but happened here. Once those fronts get east of here and some gulf moisture, they get big ideas. y'all be safe we drive through running water too frequently. And there are always folks drowning their cars. My 89 Olds makes a pretty good submarine. I think the air filter box catches water before the engine aspirates it.
  10. I am sure it will be quite acceptable thnx Jim.
  11. Good to see they will fit in a medium size vehicle. I was thinking of snagging a cube van from a drive-away for delivery down here ... do they use casual drivers any more? Snagged up Jim's h/k 630. Coming in under budget. Still have to figure getting it here. But, I don't think it will cost $700. That would pay for my trip ... both directions I am happy. Got some Peruvian beans. Wind 'im up and watch 'im go ... We pay retail at the mercantile. $10 for 14oz. At the roaster [Gadsden], the price varies by variety, from $10/lb to $14/lb.
  12. unrelated to coffee wife is happy that I am excited. She may get over that when those scalas show up. Worse comes to worse, I think I can sleep in that 8cu/ft bin ...
  13. is it good coffee? I need to get some beans. Used the last of the KenyaAB this AM.
  14. Mornin' all a tad brisk this AM, some frost. Had to stoke the fire. So, I made coffee ... and here I am. Good thing I have some time before I get those Scalas here. Gonna have to shuffle some things around to get them into suitable locations Like getting the stepson to move from the "cottage"/guest house HaHaHa In the first vid about Arivaca, in the opening shot of the town ... See the blue church in the middle of the frame? Our place is on block in the foreground of that church. HaHaHa anyone want to dispute my description of us [me] as "hill folk"? I'm just your "country cousin"
  15. A friend of mine was commenting about tin ears and not being able to appreciate good speakers ... I responded, "A deaf person can experience these babies".
  16. I should have added that I was joking. Sorry.
  17. am I hearing an offer of them getting to Hope?
  18. oh dtel all of the roads are dirt and the paved ones, you may wish were dirt. RubyRd got so bad, you had to drive on the shoulder. truth if you go from here to PenaBlancaLake, it will take you a good hour and a half to blaze the 25 miles.
  19. it would be a hoot. I would love to. I am squeezing hard to do the AZ to IN to NC. Time away from the house thing. I don't like leaving everything on the wife. She has too much with her job.
  20. there are so many roads thru these hills.... those ridges are illusion. lots of hills. critters - they go away if you leave them alone. I did kill a shoestring size rattler in the yard last year. Tarantulas are very mellow. You have to work to agitate them. The come in the house, I just shoo them out. whew I am starting to sound like RandyQuaid's part in VegasVacation HaHaHa and we had a resident skunk, until it got too comfortable. We have a cat door and one night the 'kids" were coming in ... and we had an extra and not a cat. Happened twice. i turned it around and ushered it out w/o incident. It used to play with the cats.
  21. go for it... Murphy lowered the boom. Our record warm gave way to 15` below normal and wet, just in time for the TucsonRodeo and TuconGem/MineralShow the weather will go back to normal as soon as the golf tournament is over. They had to postpone it because of snow a few years back
  22. yes, unless I know someone is headed this direction sooner.
  23. I bet the heat index is lower here than most of the country, in the summer. June is HOT. August is the best time to come down. the pics of cows in the road are no joke. We have to fence them out. Open Range my wife works 25 miles farther out. Sasabe
