  1. I live in Arivaca AZ. kinda off the beaten path. There is a beauty of a bike road out here from the interstate. 3 or 4 stretches where you can pass in 23 miles.
  2. I will be up there in Sept. I have a lot of family in Jim's area. I have several items. a set of china, an r/c airplane, LaScalas to bring back ... I may be the PonyExpress coming back and meet some of you fine folks those cabinets are coming along very nice, Carl [?]
  3. maybe you did tell him ... ------------------------------------------------------- I am excited .... been a long time. feels good thnx Jim. even if they are 2000 miles away. I will have some other things to haul back. A P-40 R/C airplane for starters. now I am looking for respectable amplification w/o breaking the bank
  4. I committed to Jim's Scalas. Now I need to move them 2000 miles. May be Sept before I see them.... sniff Tarheel, I drove a Fiero from Tucson to StPete.... by the time I got there I had to roll out before I could straighten my legs ... I am [was?] 6'2"
  5. We'll make it a deluxe ... padded and heated
  6. scratch the Depends and have a real bucket seat.
  7. I have step sons ... was telling the wife, when we were courting, "I don't think I am a very good role model"
  8. Yeah. I hate flying. By the time I fly to Chicago and get from there to SouthBend IN, I could have driven there. Well, almost. 30hrs of driving time. I can dawdle and have a good time.
  9. my kid sister [in Greensboro] was worried about getting a nice place to stay on the beach [KureBeach]. I had to remind her, that in spite of how we feel, we are all SENIOR CITIZENS, They wouldn't tear the place up ... would they?
  10. all of them. 2 in IN, one in Greensboro all of us are getting together w/o it being a funeral. They are almost as quiet as me. Can't take us anywhere. And now we get to blame it on old age....
  11. Big difference. Thought she was younger. Looks like I will be making a grand tour in Sept. Tucson to Michiana. Elkhart to NC and return. Might be able to do some shopping/buying along the way.
  12. You don't have "the touch"? Our granddaughter won't touch her food until I have "fixed" it. I don't know why. Still trying to figure her out. She fights everyone but me. I mean screaming fight you. I ask/tell her to do something ... done. No problem ?????
  13. an Olympics moment I don't recall whether it was a skiing or skating event. The commentators were saying of a particular contestant, "They are very good, but, they fall down a lot" dumb question In the figure skating events, what happens to the flowers that are thrown, after the girls in pink dresses, collect them up? I was guessing they went back to the vendors to be resold and thrown again
  14. I dunno folks. I have been wearing glasses for 50yrs+... nearsighted.... I cannot read billboards w/o them .... do it the old fashioned way. Look under the lenses or take them off when I am working close
  15. not much sand here. I have rock. if ya wanna split hairs, I don't live in "the desert". This region is classified as semi-arid grassland. There is prolly as much cacti in Colorado as here.. A few prickly pear and some agave. I cut oak for the fireplace.
  16. I gotta get me a better LF.... my Olds is a classic ... but, in the wrong sense of the word.
  17. As awful as the school musical performances are, I enjoy going to orchestra programs. It is SOOOO bad sounding and the kids are trying so hard. Playing analog instruments [fretless string] really point to one good note and an infinity of wrong ones.
  18. I drive an '89 Olds HaHaHa A friend was visiting from MT. He was in his "WarWagon". Big ol'Chevy 4X4. I wanted to show him around. He wanted to get his dog out. I offered to take him where I cut wood. He asked if he should drive.... "No, I don't want you to tear your truck up".
  19. It doesn't stick around long. Worst I know, it was closed for 4 days after 3 days of rain. Normal is hours. the ground is so dry/hard, that it generally runs off. We have dirt roads in town. They have a glaze of slip [sloppy clay].
  20. ... one of the "charms" of country life I think we are landlocked. The road out of town is awfully quiet this is a normal thing for us any time we get a substantial amt of rain.
  21. HaHaHa think we've all been there being a desert rat, the first thing I said when I hit the jetway, getting off the plane on Kauai, "I smell water!" we have been smelling water for the past two or three days. Finally got to drink. I guess an inch plus, since yesterday afternoon. Good soaking rain. Wife is on the verge of calling a weather day. was plowing thru the local CL ads. Appears [to my novice eyes] that amplification is going to be much easier than getting a pair of Cornwalls
