One thing to consider is the Denon may mute the channel if there is no signal present, thus quiet.I had a 3802 and it was pretty quiet anyway, the audio could not match my memory of the 9090, great sounding radio. There was a few decades in between so......The 9090 may or may not sound the same as an old untouched unit could have.
Holy Moley, almost 10 years ago I just wanted to update this because at the time I had not heard a 9090 for a very long time. This thread popped up in a totally different web search so I just wanted to update it. I have since acquired some old radios, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sherwood, Marantz and some Sansui's. One being a 9090, in very nicely kept condition. I can add to this thread that there is NO COMPARISON in sound or output in the Denon and Sansui. They are so far apart they can't even be compared .The Sansui has a lush, full top to bottom, powerful sound I instantly recognized. No Denon, HK, Onkyo,Yamaha, Marantz modern avr I ever owned could compare. I wouldn't trade the 9090 for every avr I ever owned in a pile if I could not have the 9090. I've never owned a unit that brought me so much musical joy over the past year. There is not many over the past 25 or so years I have not owned in the mid fi mrkt, below 3k. I only wish I would have bought a 9090 decades ago....

Mars is human unfriendly and not a real thing for people in my understanding. What it would take to survive is insanely prohibitive. But, the future is not known and Elon will learn a lot about it. He's gonna make money and that makes some mad, so good....

Looks like Elon will be making Twatter funny again..Sure, he's not perfect like us but he'll learn. He needs to stay away from crazy chicks for starters...That's already cost him more than I made in a decade. So...look out, he's talkin about buying Coca-Cola, returning it to it's origins. He's talkin about buying Micky Dees and fixin the ice cream machine. He may consider Klipsch and building a three way speaker people with families can afford ?? A center where people can call and get info or register a complaint that's taken seriously ?? Who knows.......All things are possible with Elon's bankroll.

Shit it’s old but how would you compare Rf5(340), Rf35with rw10(300), RP3($200)
Well, maybe late but..rp3 for $200, if in good shape is a good deal but, they have a Klipsch amp so it's gonna die soon....The 35's with a sub is also good for $300. The 35's are not the better of reference 8 inch to my ears, still, for the price, ok. The 5's for $340 ? that's easy, buy em'. You can listen for as long as you want and still make a few bucks as $400 would be a quick sale around here. Sorry late, best.

On the hunt for some La Scala 2's just incase. Whether they become the main part of the system or a separate system, I do want to hear the heritage magic.
I'm not sold on the RF-7's yet. they aren't doing anything for me and I think might be a bit harsh, but yes, we do need a rug and some more in the room. I'm just not getting the wow factor from them yet that I had hoped after spending that money. Someone else suggested some better amplification and I don't doubt that can help, I'm not particularly happy with the Denon x3400 I have either.
Just for future readers....The 7's are pictured in a big bare walled room with hard floors. They are hooked to a Denon of some type which would be ok in a bedroom. So ANY evaluation of this set up is meaningless completely. Put a few hundred real watts on them, maybe 300 in a real room with just stuff in it and wow won't cover the response from people with a 20- 10khz hearing.... Klipsch does not make a speaker that blows 7's, the old 7's much less new away.

Oh...and good luck, try a sample before smearing anything on your speaker.

That's about all I can tell you other than...I finished wood40 years.....I can fill this forum with pics of speakers and 70's era cases I refinished.

The walnut may not match. Your wood is walnut I presume ,but it may be natural. Most walnut pens stains are dark. I would try a light, or medium or any color that looks like your wood. Just match the sample to your actual wood tone.
-
I have a variety of stains so easy for me to say...At most home centers they have pens or pints of stains. Even the local dollar tree has furniture touch up markers. I even have markers that come with some furniture I've bought. I always keep mineral spirits (NO LACQUER THINNERS) handy in case it does not match perfectly, just gently wipe off quickly.

It looks mostly cosmetic. If you don't have wood repair experience be carefull. Best to just touch up for now with some stain that matches. Be it a can/artist brush, pen whatever to hide it. Test on similar pc wood.

I'll direct callers to previous post in this thread. Klipsch is better than ever. Maybe try a different phone?? lol.....Pre insanity I actually had a pretty good experience with getting parts....

Well...I may agree, his "vision" would not currently be a "fit", here. And...he currently has a lot on his plate trying to make the world a better place ......., and I would prefer he pursue that for now. So...for now Klipsch will just continue doing what it does.....On another note....does Klipsch have a twitter account ??

Not much of a poll without a poll to place my vote. There is a way for OP to edit thread to provide us one.
Sorry, you can post your for or against or neutral opinion and I can figure out the rest. I'm also trying to encourage reading more,it's fundamental.

I don't recall to what extent the room, position and other electronics in the chain have been considered. I never heard the 20's sound as good as in my bedroom, 16x18ft with vaulted ceilings. I always had a sub on the old rf speakers, and several others, jbl etc...in my old bedroom (different house). I only put 20's in the bedroom for temp storage after moving in. But after listening to them one day I told my wife they would have to stay and the rf3 be sold. She was looking forward to rb5's......

Did some more bass heavy music testing on the KLF-20's and could not detect any panel vibration or rattling.
However, the bass output level is lighter than I would expect for such large speakers with dual 10" woofers. Also, the woofers don't have as much movement/excursion as I would expect when the volume is pushed. Not sure if this is normal. I was using a pretty beefy amp (Rotel RB-1582 at 200 watts/channel).
As a side comment, I found that PL Premium 3X also comes in a 4 oz squeeze tube, which could make application easier in the areas a caulk gun can't be reached for interior baffle gluing.
I know where you're coming from. I always had complaints on Klipsch bass, rf7,20,30 bunch more. Had em'hooked to a Rotel 1068/1095, B&K, Outlaw, many, plenty power but not taking my bass to Cerwin territory. I hooked em to my Sansui 9090, you'd never doubt their impact again. You would have busted cabinets then I'm pretty sure if you pushed to hard. Be assured, they can have insane bass, even the rf7 would shock most people that have owned them with bass and punch.
I sold a couple of old radios to a younger friend, Pioneer, Sansui, Project One. He called me later that evening and was gushing about his original 7's pounding out the bass. He had them hooked to an Emotiva pre and 200 watts per amp. He was, and is still going on about how it made him love the 7's again. So, just know they can perform. I don't know why newer radios don't have that sound. Heaven knows I spent a small fortune trying to find it. As usual, it was here all along....

I have to ask WHERE IS Moray ? He has never missed a chance to say HOW terrible that factory diaphragm is. He hates it with a passion. I'd say you can't judge it with the original. What about crossover parts ? Mine sound pretty good, best when hooked to my 9090 or sx980, these speakers pound with old radios with power. With new stuff, even Anthem, Rotel etc...not the same presentation.

He's not even an engineer. Economics and Physics, I recommend his book highly, he surrounds himself with the right people, a model very similar to what Howard Hughes did for aviation.
I don't think he would have anything to add to a audio/speaker company.
We certainly can think anything we like, for now. He appears to add to anything he touches so there's that.....And I just like him, he's never done anything to me.

Just because you have a near unlimited source of money does not mean you can buy an existing company and make it better. This has been proven in all product areas.
Maybe Elon needs to buy more Fish...
It's not about money, it's about decisions you make, I'll leave it at that. He just made a lot of people money, including himself, about a billion or so in a few weeks on ONE DEAL. He sure made that better..That's enough to buy a few companies

I have 2 sets of 20s. Titanium in one and soft in the other, they sound a little different, but both pretty good with no issues in their space.

My comment was not meant to denigrate Mr. Musk at all. I know he is a brilliant engineer, but he hasn't done anything in the audio world that I know of. I just thought others might know something about him that would shed some light on the OPs question.
Well...one thing we know. He can get rockets built and his cars have stereos. He also understands the future better than a large segment of the population, imo. Speakers are no longer rocket science though. Now it's just implementation ,imo. Maybe when the GREAT P.W. Klipsch started out it was almost the equivalent of rocket science.

I know he has deep pockets, but does he really have anything else to offer?
Well...maybe..he's pretty good at business. I know I had saved up to buy Cornwall IV's for a couple years. About a year or a little more ago I decided my money could be better spent elsewhere, and I did. A guy like Elon could make a guy like me feel good about buying speakers again. Instead of buying new I'm getting ready to sell old.......

Just curious how many people think he could really help this company?

My dogs better than your dog.......funny stuff. How much is a CW4? How much are old used klf? It don't even matter, although an odd comparison since they basically only share manufacturer . You gotta hear a speaker to judge it.......then all that matters is your choice.
