It appears to me that you have another issue besides the crack.  Literally beside, that is.

Take a look at the bottom ring, just to the left of the crack.  That looks to me like the cone is trying to come off, when compared to the look of the right side.

If you attempt to glue it, I would lay a bead around that bottom ring.  (Why not try?  It's already toast anyway...)

Looks like a blunt object impact just left of the split, ~1/3 from dust cap to surround was the cause.  May be more damage than a bit of glue can right.

    Yup for sure thank you

If you were close, I'd sell you the woofer for $30 but don't have the time to deal with shipping nor would I trust it being shipped.

The glue on Amazon is clear and everything I have used it on has cured and held great.

    Ok Thanks

If you can't find a replacement, I have found a fantastic plastic glue that should work very well welding those parts together.

This stuff really does a great job on the different plastics I have used it on, including even outside use.

    Is that the clear one?

Not a wood expert here or veneer guru but it may just need to be re-ironed in those areas.  Some wood veneer is designed to be "ironed on" so that may be what you are dealing with.  My friend @jhoak was gracious enough to put a beautiful natural cherry veneer on my Revel B15 subwoofer using the iron on type.  A few bubbles were a problem after a few days so I just heated up an iron to soften the glue and smoothed them out.

All wood veneer is not designed that way so find out first.

Will do and thanks for the info, ill have a professional check it out before I do anything to it.

  5. I purchased a pair if the KLF 20s and are getting rebuilt by Bob Crites now. The back tag states black color but are a light wood color. Looks like someone maybe put wood veneer over them. There is some bubbling and would like to know the best and most cost effective way to refinish them. Thank you, Tom

if you have adhesive issues take the opportunity to remove all four baffles and install internal brace work. 3/4" ply is excellent brace material cut it 2" wide mount it on the 3/4" edge pre seal the plywood edge to be bonded with white glue once or twice to make sure you have a good edge as the adhesive will soak into the ply. Horizontal braces below and above each woofer help a lot and a vertical brace on each side I install two verticals on the back one on each side of the terminal cut and a central brace on the top front to back (make sure the tweeter can clear the brace on install) leave the bottom of the cabinet alone you may need that space down the road. Tie the side braces together with a stringer (same material as the braces)and tie the front horizontal braces to the rear braces. On the baffles where the braces are mounted use a dremil tool to sand off the thin black melamine so you can glue to the wood beneath, It is the melamine's no stick qualities which have caused all the problems to begin with.Remove the melamine veneer from the baffle outer edge so your install will all be wood to wood. Make sure to remove all of the original hot melt adhesive on the baffles. This work will pay off in tighter bass with  more  impact. That should get you going.

Wow thank you for the advice. I am not a handy person at all! I am looing into getting them professionally refinished. The wood veneer is bubbling and looks like crap.

I was going to suggest you move up the Yamaha line to at least the 701.

    Bill

Yes sir I did buy the 701! Mt KLF 20s are in pieces and tweeters and crossovers are being shipped to Bob Crites. I did have a question for you Bill, Looks like the previous owner applied a wood veneer the speakers as the tag states black color. How can these be refinished? Looks like it may just peel off and is bubbling on the sides. Thanks Tom

Folks, IMO this Luxman is well worth the price stated.  It will easily drive, Fortes, Quartets, Chorus, Khorns, Cornwalls, La Scalas, Heresys, Reference bookshelfs, most(if not all)Reference floorstanders, KLFs, Epics, etc.  Okay, let's just say pretty much all Klipsch has or had to offer.:P

    Bill

Thanks Bill, I decided to sell it for $250 including shipping so I’m ending up with about $200 after shipping, I think it’s a good deal.
