  1. I've know of Klipsch for decades and even owned a cheap pair of SF-2 tower speakers just to try them out. However, y first experience with the Heritage series happened for me recently... New to me Heresy 2's and the first thing I played was Cannoball Adderley's Something Else on vinyl via my tube amp and tube preamp. It was eye opening. it felt like I was listening in the club while the band was playing. Great dispersion and soundstage, articulate highs... overall a very pleasing experience. I like to listen to music on the media that it was originally recorded / released on (50's, 60's, 70's - Vinyl, 80's, early 90's CD, etc) and this set up is what I think it must have been like "back in the day" when this was first released.
  2. I have an interesting one that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a pair of Heresy 2's that, according to the serial number records, were build the week of Jan 15, 1986. However, according to the work order tag I found on the inside the cabinet shop built them 10/1/86 and the sanding dept sanded them on 10/2/86.... Is this normal?? Did did they issue batch serial numbers then just not build the product until they needed it?
  3. I'll post something on a different thread so I don't highjack this one.
  4. I'm glad I found this thread... I just bought a pair of HII's but I just assumed they were 8 ohm (I know, rookie mistake) and it turns out they are 4 ohm... time to change where I have them connected to my tube amp....
  5. I just wanted to circle back and wrap up this thread. I ended up buy a set of Heresey II's from the original owner. While they are not La Scalas they will allow me to dip my toe into the Klipsch Heritage pool and get my feet wet, so to speak. Thank you once again for all of the info and advice.
  6. Thanks to everyone for their time and advice. Turns out the seller decided to NOT honor our deal and sold them to someone else. Guess I will keep looking.
  7. More follow up, I just got off the phone with the folks at JEM performance. They still rebuild crossovers so I will send them mine and they can make sure everything is up to snuff. I can solder but this way they can inspect everything and replace / correct as needed.
  8. Great advice, everyone, thank you. Due to my total newbie status on the board I cannot "like" any more posts today.... however, please consider all advice "liked"!!
  9. At a minimum I was planning on running new speaker wires and connectors.
  10. Pretty much what I was thinking. I have an email into JEM performance asking about a crossover rebuild....
  11. Not yet. However, I've been watching online sales for a while so I have an idea when they are going for... I'm comfortable with the deal we have tentatively struck, I just wanted to be aware of any known issues... provided they are just good, solid, old La Scalas I should be in good shape. I'll update the post once I have a chance to see / listen to them in person.
  12. The seller is going to have them set up so I can listen to them before we complete the deal.
  13. I'm working on a trade deal... my speakers and cash. At minimum I am looking at replacing the crossovers, a total cleaning, possibly new tweeter diaphragms and maybe new woofers (depending on their condition). At this point I'm trying to decide what they are worth given their condition.
  14. I finally got some pics..... They appear to be unmolested 1974, black birch La Scalas.... Besides the dusty / dirty condition (and the paw prints), any red flags? Thank you in advance.
  15. I know this is a bit of a large net to cast but I'm looking at a pair of La Scalas. I don't have the serial numbers yet but they were supposedly owned but the original owner for 50+ years. I'm assuming they might need some TLC (caps / crossovers / etc) but I was curious if there was anything that I should check / look out for? Any known issues to watch out for or avoid? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I'll edit the post as I get more info.
  16. Thank you. I am very happy with it. So much so that I just ordered a "new" Dynaco Pas-M preamp from Kenny Russell over at getdynaco.com.
  17. This might be my first post.... I'm running an updated / old-school Dynaco Stereo 70.
