One I really like, more my kind of technician, is Uncle Doug who is a tube guy at heart. Very entertaining.

I forgot about him- I was thinking hifi more than guitar amp but I agree. He even has a dog that can sniff out bad caps ;)

  2. I don't know about the fisher but #1 you already have it, #2 you can get a taste of tubes and see if you want to live with them, #3 You've got valuable input from Henry.

I agree w/ respect to parts kits- you don't get to choose the ingredients.

  3. Looks like no one mentioned Elekit. They're kits from Japan and seem to be well regarded.

Just under $2k in the US. Not sure if you're looking for a kit but you'd get more for your money...

The best I heard was a $25k border patrol w/ 4 WE 300Bs playing through Volti Razz at the NY audio show last spring.

I have a tubes4hifi VTA ST120 p/p that I built w/ KT120s and Chorus 2's. I need to do some maintenance on it and currently playing through a Dynaco ST120 s/s that needs an overhaul ASAP. I have the parts, just need approval for the workspace. Not the same situation as yours but more to think about.

I must confess that the sound quality isn´t that high on the origins , the remastered is better for sure, however the music is great

Sorry this one’s not vinyl but it’s in the spirit. I got this CD when it first came out Some friends hooked me up to see them in 2011… Great show and mick was a nice guy too.

  5. "Getting some of it here in Ohio too.  Sad to see all of the fires up there.  Such beautiful country.  ANY forest fire is sad to see."

When I shot that at 6:45am, the air quality index was about 147. Right now it's 193 and you can smell it. Real sad.

    One of a kind...

"Read "I am not Spock" - No! Better listen to the audio-book by Leonard Nimoy! He tells us all about the greatest prankster that ever lived on this planet. R.I.P. Mister Nimoy/ Spock."

Yep, that’s the first thing I would do. Caps probably suck at this point, woofer/surrounds are sagging from years in the same position, so yes, an “upgrade” is a necessity. And I’d certainly use Cr ites aftermarket for the parts. Doing so will most certainly do us all a favor by closing down this worthless thread - Carry on —

Maybe Danny Richie can get these old things sorted out for me. After that they'll go to ASR for a full scope review ...

  8. I inherited the TT. It was my stepdad's. He was a musician and had that with a Marantz (w/ the oscilloscope), Tandberg R2R, and Altec VOT's. My mom got him one of the first Sony CD players- the specs were hand written IIRC. His kid's got the rest.

Grateful to have the TD125mk2. I had it overhauled by Vinyl Nirvana before bringing it to it's new home. It plays with a Denon DL103, Ned Clayton SUT, re-done Dynaco PAT4, soon to be re-done Dynaco ST120 (summer), VTA ST120 for cooler times, and Chorus 2's.

After completing the VTA120 build, the first album I played on it was Hunky Dory. That's a keeper too!
