  1. Not sure how many of you are into this new thing Apple Music has… spatial audio with Dolby Atmos.

It’s a cool experiment but maybe not the next revolution from stereo.

    after all we tried quadrophonic

then there was qsound mixes(roger waters/sting/Madonna etc)

then there was that short lived dvd audio 5.1 experiment

probably missing a few experiments along the way

is this just another attempt that will be forgotten in a few years?

  2. Well, sorry to bother you guys because the seller of the KLF30 wouldn’t let me listen to them.

So I went with the heresy v cornwalls and set up a quick a/b test and it was over before it’s started. It’s like getting that iPhone 4 and experiencing the Retina screen for the first time.

    • Thanks 1
  3. I am considering getting one pair of KLF-30’s to replace my Heresy II’s and subs.

    What’s a ballpark price I should expect?

What should I expect as far as sound changes?

These were manufactured in Hope AR right?

Tape monitor outputs usually don't vary gain with changing the speaker volume. Pretty sure the H/K works that way. This was so you could record from and LP or radio at any volume and not mess your recording levels.

thanks! That seems like a bad solution then

Your Heresys will love the 730!...even just the 430!  If your sub inputs are designed to run with the left and right speaker outputs from the receiver, which in turn sends the signals from the sub itself TO THOSE HERESY MAINS, then you are good to go....but if it SOLELY relies on a sub-out signal, the 730 doesn't have that.  Which means that you will need to use the speakers "B" 730 outputs instead, which will drop your output ohms from 8 to 4 since you would have to have both spear A and speaker B running from that receiver..  Make sense?

would it make more sense to run out of the tape monitor outputs?

What speakers are you planning to power, if you go with the H/K 730 twin-powered receiver?  If you listen to stereo FM radio using a tuner, the 930 has the best tuner of the bunch!...along with 45wpc, instead of 35 wpc the 730 has...but all of the tuners are good in that series!

I don’t listen to the radio at all. Haven’t for 20 years. Using Heresy ii’s.  I do like subs with the heresies so perhaps going vintage is not a good idea.

I was at the Klipsch museum event over this weekend.  and I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the new Heresy IV listening experience...it actually brought me to tears!  The New "IV" Heresy is SO MUCH MORE THAN IT EVER HAS BEEN BEFORE!  The cabinet has been enlarged UPWARDS about an inch in order to fit the rear tractrix porting, and make that porting work properly!  AND THAT IS BASICALLY ALL, external cabinet size-wise!  Don't get me wrong, the Cornwall IV is also a major improvement, too!  BUT, I was personally much more impressed with the change in the Heresy!  It's a "whole new ball-game", now, for the "runt" of the original "Heritage" line!!  TRUST ME!  When I heard the Heresy IV, I leaned over to one of the dealers in the lab listening-room  and said:  "Once people hear them, you're gonna sell a crap-load of THESE!"

so which ones sound better? Cornwall v Heresy?

    Welcome.

If the caps are not leaking, stick with the originals. Recapping won't improve the lows. Recapping will change the personality of your speakers slightly.

Bass greatly depends on mastering and medium. Also, give yourself the time to 'burn in' your ears/brain.

My Heresy's play very well with a 3W Tubecube vacuum amp, which is entry level priced.

    My 2 cents.

That little tube amp seems interesting. Is there a way I could use it and keep my subs running with the Hersies?

  9. Just picked up some Heresy II’s.

I am using a Harmon Kardon 3380 and 2 of those Pioneer Andrew Jones Subwoofers.

I like the sound mostly. With certain songs I don’t feel like the bass is blending well with the speakers. Would a sealed sub work better?

Might pick up a HK 3490 or vintage amp. Don’t probably have the cash for any tube amps that don’t say Vox or Fender on them.

Do I need to be recapping these Heresies now?

I do love the Heresy sound. Biggest complaint is that I wish they were not black.

  10. Went with neither. Wanted to try the Klipsch Heritage stuff out so listened to some Cornwalls and then some Heresy II’s. Came home with the Heresy II’s

I don’t know if I am correct but it appears that the soundstage is much improved. I am running the Heresy’s with 2 subs.

  11. Thanks, happy to be here.

One is $799 cad and the other $1398 new at two different stores. Unfortunately can’t hear them side by side.

the room has lofted ceilings. Sort of open concept with dining room and entry etc. So lots of space to deal with.

using Harmon Kardon 3380 or Yamaha A-S501 depending if I want two subs. I might pick up a used 3490 to get a little more power.
