  1. I'd recommend against both of these center channel speakers for you. A Heresy would be a much better match for Klipschorns, as well Cornwalls.Stay in the Heritage family.

In certain rooms, Forte's and Heresy's are simply the only Heritage speakers that'll fit. They may be smaller than their big brothers, but they still sound terrific! I'm really sorry I got to Jeff's so late Sunday afternoon and missed meeting all of the rest of you guys. I'm still building the entertainment center that all my stuff will be resting on. So, it's not the right time to invite folks over just yet. Maybe later this summer...
  3. Jeff, Thanks so much for opening your home to us! I really enjoyed my time listening to--and looking at--your home theater yesterday afternoon. You have an incredible setup and it sounds terrific! You should be proud! Thanks again! Dale

Laters, Jeff ---------------- Hi Jeff! Hey, there's no such thing as "just a Dallas Stars fan", especially this time of year! Seriously, I'd love to take a look at--and listen to--your HT sometime! I live in Arlington. So, I am in the area. I'll PM you soon and we can set something up. Thanks for the offer!
  5. Thanks so much for all of the feedback everyone! I've attached a picture that will hopefully help to illustrate several problem areas in my home theater/den. This room is going to be changing quite a bit in the near future. We're looking at having the door removed that you see on the right hand side of the picture. This will extend the front of the room a lot and enable me to spread out the equipment clutter. Most importantly, it'll allow me to have that right main speaker in a corner. As you can see, my new television monitor is currently sitting on top of an old printer stand. That's clearly unacceptable in and of itself. Right now, the lower right-hand portion of the monitor actually obstructs the tweeter section of the Cornwall. As you can imagine, that's just simply not acceptable either. Also, you probably noticed that the left-hand side of the monitor obstructs part of the stereo cabinet behind it. There are times that I, literally, have to get up and reach around the monitor to get the remote control of some of those pieces of equipment to work. I'm not going to put up with that very much longer at all! My current plan is to build two towers between 36" and 38.5" tall (I haven't decided which speaker I'll get just yet) x 21.5" wide x 24" deep to accommodate all of the electronic gear in my system. This will also leave room for some DVDs, videotapes, future expansion, etc. in the entertainment center area. Between the towers, I'm thinking about putting this "new" center channel speaker, either a Belle Klipsch, or another Cornwall. (The Heresy you see here in this picture will then become a rear center channel speaker.) Then, I'll connect the two towers with a table top of some sort--and the new television will rest of top of that. After reading your responses, I'm beginning to lean towards making another Cornwall become my new center channel speaker. Firstly, because they are much more plentiful than the Belle. (I've rarely seen a single Belle for sale.) Secondly, because the Cornwall has a footprint that's 5" more narrow than the Belle, and I can clearly use the room in the front of my den. And, thirdly (and, perhaps, most importantly) I bought a pair of Cornwall cabinets from a local Klipsch speaker ghoul just last month. These cabinets are going to be sanded and refinished shortly after the Dallas Stars are knocked out of the NHL playoffs (which hopefully won't happen at all!), or when it's dry enough outside for enough days in a row while I have some time to put in on this project. I have the tweeters and mid horns to put in these cabinets from an old, beaten-up pair of Heresy's. I think Klipsch still sells the k-33 woofers, don't they? If so, that'll leave me with only having to find some crossovers to put in these cabinets to make them fully-functioning Cornwalls again. At any rate, the restoration of these Cornwalls should be done by mid-summer, at the latest. Incidentally, why somebody would want to dissect a pair of perfectly working Klipsch Cornwall speakers, and then sell them as parts on eBay, is a phenomenon that simply alludes me. What an utterly retarded thing to do... At any rate, I really appreciate all the responses and would love to read any more feedback you folks may have! Thanks again!
  6. Hey, Audible Nectar! Thanks for pointing this thread out to me! I really appreciate you showing me the pictures of your set-up. As awesome as I'm sure your system sounds, I feel pretty confident in saying that my wife would pitch a fit if I even tried something similar here in "her" den. She's been amazingly supportive about this speaker obsession of mine for a long time now. But, the four Cornwall array across the front of the room would have me sleeping in the bed of my F-150, instead of the one I belong in. You must have a very special, understanding woman who'll let you do that! I particularly got a chuckle out of seeing your remote control collection on the coffee table. We have a basket on our coffee table that has seven remotes in it, and then a universal remote that still has to lay around on the table top because it won't fit in the basket! Seriously, congrats on your terrific home theater!
  7. Do you have your vertical Cornwalls flanking your monitor on either side? Or do you have them both underneath it? High high off the floor does your television sit?
  8. I would love to split 'em with you!
  9. Here's one from Klipsch's Heritage web link.
  10. I have a few questions regarding the use of a Belle Klipsch as a center channel in my home theater. (I've loved that speaker since I was in grade school and have always wanted one, or more, of my own.) I'd love to hear from Heritage owners/lovers about the practicality of using a Belle in my set-up. My current system is: vertical Cornwalls for front mains, a single Heresy as my center, and a pair of Heresy's as my surrounds. I listen to these speakers while watching video on a recently purchased 50" Hitachi Widescreen LCD monitor (model: 50V500). To accommodate this large new monitor, I'm clearly going to have to buy (or, more likely, build) a new entertainment center. I'm upgrading from a 27" standard definition television and this monitor simply won't fit on my existing furniture. So, before doing the new furniture thing, I'm thinking a center channel speaker (the Belle Klipsch, or another Cornwall) upgrade would be a prudent consideration. Which brings me to my first question... 1) Since the Belle is nearly a 36" speaker, should its height exclude it from use in my HT system? If I were to get one, due to the form factor of the monitor, the *bottom* of the monitor's screen would wind up being at least 45" off the floor. That's almost four feet off the ground from the bottom of the screen, and seven feet to the top of the screen. That seems kind of high to me. But, I'm not sure. My seating area is about 12' away from the monitor. Neck strain could be a factor with the monitor up that high... 2) I've heard the horn loaded Heritage speakers many times as front mains with a single Cornwall as a center. They sound fantastic together! But, I've never heard a horn loaded speaker, like the Belle, between a pair of Cornwalls. Is there a problem with timbre matching when mixing these style speakers? Or, do they sound as good together as I imagine them to be? Is another Cornwall the better choice? 3) Do any of you have similar systems with pictures you'd be willing to share to give me ideas of what I can do to present this system in a manner that my wife will find acceptable? 4) Does anybody here on the forum have a single Belle they'd like for me to come take off their hands for a *reasonable* price? I'd really appreciate any guidance/advice you Heritage fans can offer me. I'm hoping to make my decision on the direction I'm going to pursue with this center channel speaker and entertainment center setup in the next few days. I need to get the monitor off the old printer stand it's currently sitting on. I fear that if I delay much longer, the WAF will become a moot point.
  11. ---------------- On 3/9/2004 10:42:19 PM mandi wrote: can I turn both Cornwalls and the KLF-C7 into my center and keep the fortes as surrounds and heresys as rears? I guess my main question is, How do I make both CWs and C7 the center when the rcv is thinking this is just ONE speaker? ---------------- Is there a good reason to continue to use the KLF-C7 at all with this setup? It seems to me that the Cornwalls are such superior speakers to the KLF-C7 that it would be more of detriment than a compliment to overall sound of the system. IMO, which I base on a previous system that I had with a KLF-C7 as the center between a pair of Heresy's, the timbre match of the KLF-C7 and any Heritage speaker is nearly non-existant. Especially with Khorns as the mains, I wouldn't recommend using a KLF-C7 as anything other than an effects speaker. That's not to say that I dislike the KLF-C7, it's absolutely a fine speaker. But, since the center channel is such a major part of a 5.1 surround system, I think it's a very poor choice between a pair of Klipschorns. I recommend saving yourself the effort it will require to hook up both of your Cornwalls and the KLF-C7. Either go with a single Cornwall, or (perhaps more ideally) figure out a way to use the two of them, without the KLF-C7 in the mix.
  12. Thanks to all for the well wishes on the purchase of my "new" Cornwall's! I really appreciate having this support group available for my habit. I went and picked them up on Saturday afternoon. Thank goodness my son was around when I got home. Those monsters are a LOT bigger than I remember them being! I had forgotten how little they make the Heresy's seem. I fully expected my wife to pitch a fit about me bringing such huge speakers into the house, even though I have been warning her about the Cornwall's size for several years now. To my utter shock and dismay, she was very cool about the whole purchase--and the subsequent disruption of our den's furniture while I swapped them with the Heresy's. So far, she seems to dig 'em as much as I do, which is always a good sign. As I figured they would, these Cornwall sound great! They are every bit the speaker I remembered from my high school days when my best friend's dad owned the local stereo store, which was a Klipsch dealer. Their living room always had Khorns, LaScala's, and Cornwall's to show off for any potential clients. The Cornwall's were always my favorites, probably because I figured I'd never have the room or be able to afford the Khorns. Last week, I mentioned that I had 4 Heresy's and an Academy in this room. What I failed to mention is that I, also, have 3 Heresy's in my bedroom. Since, then I've moved one of my Heresy's into the den to serve as the center channel speaker for the Cornwall's, and taken the Academy into the bedroom to be the center channel in there. This seems to be an ideal arrangement. It frees up some floor space in the bedroom (by getting the Heresy off the floor and the Academy on top of the television) and provides a much, much better timbre match for the Cornwall's in the den. As was suggested by some of the respondent's to this thread, the idea of using the extra set of Heresy's as rear surrounds had crossed my mind. But, with the limited space left in the rear of our den, I simply won't be able to pull off that set-up. Besides, I have no doubt the WAF of the Cornwall's will plummet if I plop those Heresy's down in the walkway at the back of the room. She's being unbelievably tolerant and accepting of them right now. I don't dare mess with that. So, sadly, that means one pair of Heresy's is going to have to go my friend's house. Fortunately, I'll still be able to visit them...
  13. My profound thanks to markw for pointing out this auction! I'm the lucky auction winner!! As triceratops noted, eBay's search missed the "Cornwalls" listing for this auction and I would have missed it totally without Mark's heads-up. I hadn't logged in here in a few days and just happened to read this thread about twenty minutes before the auction closed this afternoon. Honestly, I've been looking for speakers like these for nearly twenty-five years now! But, I've never had the funds to purchase them when they were available. Luckily, this time I do! :-) I currently have a system with 4 Heresy's and an Academy. While this has been a great setup for a while now, my dream system has always employed Cornwalls as my mains. A buddy of mine has already agreed to purchase my extra Heresy's. So, this auction has come along at a perfect time for me! The best part of the deal is that I only have to drive about 15 minutes to pick these up. No shipping costs! Woo-hoo!!

  15. quote: Originally posted by trader: I would like to use Klipsch components but the prices are getting insame on EBAY. One (not a pair) Heresy sold for 260.00 the other day. I was the winning bidder on that auction. I know I overpaid for my "new" speaker. But, I've been wanting a single Heresy to replace my KLF-C7 as a center in my home theater setup for a couple of months now. (I've never been happy with the match of the KLF-C7 and my 84 Heresy's.) This auction was the first time I'd come across a single Heresy anywhere I'd looked. I really wish that I could have found one by driving by somebody's trash the way one of the other members of this board did a month, or so, ago. Tragically, my luck just isn't that good...
