  1. sorry, my friend prayer for you and family
  2. agree. on both points. Good Mornin' All Having another problem with spotify. I seem to be locked into one playlist. Sign out and get a "home page"..Sign back in and I'm looking at "Something went wrong. Reload page" or play this same list. Looks like wife is gonna have her hands full when school resumes. The kid may be one of her students. The school seems to be getting more kids from here....might become a victim or their own success with the student to teacher ratio being 10 : 1.
  3. all this proves that "good food" a purely subjective.... and depending on how hungry you are. What's the deal with abalone? "Gourmet food... All you have to do is pre-masticate it before you can try to eat it. Is it that good or snob appeal?
  4. I can smell my neighbors cooking bacon. and it makes me want something we don't generally have. Once in a blue moon, the smell is coming from my kitchen. Think I mentioned wife cooking a pound at a time. Which is why it is not around often. Boy left an empty redbull on the table.... the smell reminds me of that cherry cough syrup we got as kids...
  5. are you talking about me? before we got married, I told my wife I didn't think I was a good role model for her two boys.
  6. Mornin' All With or without bacon is fine. What I don't want... bread that turns to a doughball and tomato that is flat tasting. Decent cheese is always nice. Def not velveeta or American "cheese". ...do either of those even qualify as cheese? Cheese flavored product maybe... may or may not contain milk .. Made the hummingbirds happy. Turned the sprinkler on the Jujubes. One of the oscillating type, that sprays up into the air....The hummers were bathing and drinking and just being happy. As soon as the water started, they were chattering. Wife spent the night in town. Got a chance to visit her sister, niece/kids and her step dad. I don't expect her until mid afternoon. I've been puttering. Pulled down some dead suckers from a long dead pear tree. So... rockhound got his "C[ocktail]" legs, did he?
  7. Hey dtel glad you made it back those tomatoes looks tasty. I'd be makin' mater sammiches. Sour dough with a slathering of mayo, a slice of some good cheddar and a slice of the featured item. That's if they don't get eaten like an apple.. the butt on that gal reminds me of the lady that scared me from shopping.
  8. she'll be OK as long as her bf doesn't "help". He is part of the reason she had to stay at the hospital, instead of treat and discharge the same day. I am going to refrain from ranting. I could go off real easy on this one the fire... Some of the area, in danger now, burned 20 years ago. And what grew after was surprising... from the ashes of $100,000 houses grew $1,000,000 houses. seriously, it is a natural process.... and NEEDS to happen periodically or the forest will choke itself out, and lose diversity
  9. Mornin' All A bit on the cool side this AM. Sub 50`. I'll have the house to myself for a while today. Wife has to get her covid test before she can get her eye surgery done. I was asking her what they are going to do IF she tests positive for antibodies? When she does get her eyes, I expect "Bill, I thought you were keeping the house clean!" I will most likely entertain the neighbors. Not feeling too ambitious. I may get a spurt of energy... or not. Dog days... Eat/sleep/potty. curious reporting on Bighorn fire. 40% contained... but doubled in size. How does that work? They have conceded a drop in the containment % after the wind yesterday.
  10. that never happens at my pool... not yet. can't dive into my "pool". Wanted to take a shower "Honey!!!! Did you use all the cold water?" "Cold" tap water is about 100`. Maybe lower. You can stand in full cold w/o getting a chill, until you get out of the shower.. R/H is around 10%
  11. We had a dozen, easy. Always fighting The swallows are a little noisier, but you aren't in danger of being impaled by one.
  12. I been being lazy. Chasing wilting plants and napping. lots of "good"/reusable stuff at the dump. Nothing I had an immediate need for. Put a couple miles on the Olds. It hasn't been run for a few weeks. It started. Didn't turn over with much enthusiasm. Saw a movie on TCM that so is wrong, on a number of fronts, I had to record it. A Bright Leaf c/p Backed by a rich madam (Lauren Bacall), a Southerner (Gary Cooper) ruins a tobacco tycoon with a cigarette-making machine.
  13. and I thought I had a big idea with my 1000W incandescent bulb
  14. banty roosters. Mornin' All It nice out... for the next few minutes. Sun is not quite up yet. Catching the last wisps of cool before I close up the house. SIL was discharged from the hospital. That whole scene was a #%&@ up. I'll spare you the details. No plans for the day beyond a run to "the mall"/dump. Sposed to be another day of hot wind. Typical May weather. Interesting note on average temps vs record temps this time of year.... the records are only about 10`+ the average. I guess it can only get so warm [for this altitude] and does it regularly. Average is 100`+.... records are right around 110`. TBH the monsoon isn't far away. The band of moisture moves back and forth around the AZ/NM state line. It is over there. We can see the clouds. That is all, for another couple weeks. SanJuanDay is coming soon. I think June 26, not sure... that is closer to normal start for the rain. Ha! My wife's school is one of a few in AZ that are ready to open. Because there are only 20 students, the crowd size and distancing problems are [for the most part] circumvented. They are trying to establish an internet hot spot at the school, too. I have to chuckle about that. AZ is becoming more reliant on the net and computerizing everything. That is all fine and dandy... assuming you have reliable electricity. Ours is getting better, but... we live in an isolated area and those two are not spoken in the same sentence often. We keep oil lamps and candles handy. Cleaning... well, flushing the coffee machine this AM... Red blinky telling me to.
  15. we don't have to "feed". Water works fine. Water is a hot commodity here. Sugar in it and they behave like it. Fight. They are not nice little birds. Bad attitude. When I was [notice past tense] feeding, you would hear about the feeder being empty when you went outside. They would get right in my face. ...on the other hand seeing one bathe in the dew collected on a bean leaf was pretty cool.
  16. Having worked around fog machines..Same stuff minus nicotine....my lungs felt heavy after a couple hours -- Rock-n-Bowl I will guess that they will have diseases. Not tobacco diseases.
  17. Those are cool. Wish I could grow flowers here. I have to work to make the weeds grow. I had flowers at our other place. Cosmos, zinnias, tithonia [MexicanSunflowers]... The cosmos were BRIGHT orange. Almost glowed at sunrise/sundown. More of a butterfly garden. We had plenty of hummingbirds, though. we had dirt there.. Just a dusting of topsoil on top this hill. I get a little sick when I think about the garden I had. Melons... watermelons and honeydew. Corn, beans, cilantro, basil and a half dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes. I did have canteloupe/muskmelon. They crossed with the honeydew. I did not care for the offspring. Remember those marshmallow circus peanuts? Uh huh... only juicy
  18. I was aware of nectar bearing flowers having a "signature" in UV that insects [bees in particular] can see. When I think about it... makes sense that hummers see it too. Wonder if their feathers put on a show under UV... https://www.howplantswork.com/2008/11/30/flowers-what-you-see-versus-what-the-bees see I assured us of no rain in the immediate future. Went up the roof and did some patching. If it rains soon, I'll know the patch failed
  19. uh huh You see the anti-vape ads and that kid blowing as big a cloud as he could. I've seen fog machines that didn't make that much ......... too much like the anti-drug films in school. And about as effective Vapes have a place...if they help, good If you aren't a smoker... do not vape. My public service announcement for the day
  20. How many of us are surprised to have lasted this long? And I think we are surprised to have survived youth. And then the things some of our friend died from. I lost a friend going for a golf ball that hit the water hazard. ... electrocuted by a faulty pump. life is inherently dangerous. We ARE going to die from something. Smile laugh it is good for you... whatever is wrong or getting old/worn laughing might be painful if you have cracked ribs....
  21. Not a drinker. So, I'm not surprised to see brands I'm not familiar with. Mornin' All, Today is the first [official] day of monsoon. Used to be meteorological standards to judge the start... 54` dew point for 3 days... Now it's the June 15 whether/weather or not.. Both whether and weather work, so.... Starting to feel like monsoon. "Warm" last night.... in the low/mid 60's. SIL [the X factor] landed herself in the hospital. Crashed her moped... don't ask. We don't know....Single vehicle incident. Her BF bought it for her. He has no sense, either. She should not be operating a motor vehicle...She can get hurt walking. No mechanisation needed. those CW on [Tucson] CL reappeared.... price went from $700 to $1400 and are gone. Been watching a pair of RB81 II in Phoenix. They seem awful proud of them, $450 ....and a pair of RB25 II for $200. Still half looking to upgrade the doghouse sounds system.
  22. we did have a piano. My kid sister can actually play it. I play keyboards... if freestyle is playing it. I close my eyes and pound away
  23. we played out side because the house wasn't that big and there were 4 of us kids. We didn't have computers or radio or stereo. We had bicycles, sleds, balls and bats. Used the school grounds to play on.... before they turned them into correctional institutions... I will terminate the rant before I get much deeper....
