  1. You will need an active crossover (which I think @Paducah Home Theater mentioned they are going to provide with the units). You can use the MC830s for the low end with the output going from the XO's low output into the back of the amplifiers. Of course, you then need to find 4 extra channels (a 2 channel amp for highs, another 2 channel for mids, with appropriate power).
  2. Would you consider boxing these up if I had FedEx come and git 'em?
  3. ooooh eee. if they were on the other side of the equator they would already be in my shed.
  4. Brains trust - would this new "mumps" K-802 (from the KPT-8000M) horn be an upgrade on the KPT8001's existing horn?
  5. To the people asking about multiple amp channels: There are so many great multi-channel pro audio amps that slap all of that bougie "hi-fi" stuff around in terms of bang fer buck. I personally am using Crown Drivecore CDi 4|300 (1 unit, 4 channels) on my KPT904s for -home- listening and they are delightful. Cost faaaaar less than subsidising the venture capital purchase of McIntosh. I've heard so many snazzy amps and so many pro amps and I swear it's just wallet bias that makes people of a certain persuasion (that meaning: easily persuaded to part with their $$) think there is an audible difference. This upgrade to the La Scala is a huge vibe. I just wish you could apply it to my 1984 model year LS. 😆
  6. I think @thackmate could fill more info in here! The NDAs have probably expired
  7. John is a really nice bloke, in my experience, via emails. He was once the US distributor for Klipsch cinema speakers, and when PWK sold Klipsch Professional to WWE Technologies (this is a whole other story), John was unhappy with the quality and he started making his own units, inspired by and, to some, an improvement on, Klipsch designs (this is extremely apparent) and built by Gary Gillum (the G in KG), who designed the MCM system with PWK. There are HPS4000 designs which take elements of PWK's work and Peavey horns too. Lots of cinemas around the world use HPS4000. He did indeed buy the rights to the supertweeter, and has had it made in Vietnam (or one of Dai-Ichi's factories) for many years, and supplied it to Klipsch for a while, until it was replaced by a Celestion version.
  8. This is Brilliant Corners, and it is just like the name says! I was there just under a year ago. One of the best nights of my life. Kitting out bars and nightclubs with Klipsch is sort of my job - I have put La Scala and Heresy in a bunch of places. My advice to OP would be - space dependent - La Scala (of any stripe, but Industrial preferred as has more robust LF) with a KP480 sub underneath it. You can't beat it for a club, unless you can magically find a TSCM (verrrry hard).
  9. Very good. Thank you @OO1, @billybob and @Marvel!
  10. I was just looking at this centre channel post and losing my mind - what an epic build. Paducah HT are great for all the pro/cinema stuff as mentioned by @The Dude - I personally LOVE the KPT-250 and the KPT8001 for home theatre installs. Pricey, but great for atmos (in my opinion). Unfortunately the VBT stuff hasn't come down here yet, but that seems like it's designed -really- for bigger rooms.
  11. Anyone know the part number for the K-100-TI-KP replacement diaphragm? I bought a fair few of them (20+) and 3 are blown (which is surprising). Shouldn't be hugely expensive part, surely. Bloody musical speakers, though, when they work!
  12. @bobdog I have the 8001 and 1201 in different rooms, and I greatly prefer the 8001 (sounds so sweet). Have sold at least 20 of them for use as Atmos surrounds. They are solid as a rock. Probably my favourite KPT.
  13. They sure do. I only have 1 K-49... the bloke I bought these off was a complete flog and sold me one of these with a Behringer 18" drive unit, and shredded passives. It was pouring rain when I picked them up from a storage unit in the middle of nowhere - but then again, for $400AUD, what do you expect? Drivers gotta match - hence the Eminence. I'll prob sell the K-49 on the bay.
  14. It looks like the K-49-KP is a unicorn now. I'll just keep them alive with the Eminence. No point in trashing good boxes!
