  1. I've got the sub partially dialed-in (flat to 20hz at my seat) except for a room-suckout from 50 to 60 hz that was there before. There is no way this sub could be described as "slow". It sounds "right there" all of the time, there is no overhang or slop or any of the adjectives thrown around about vented boxes. Low frequencies sound like they're coming out of a bottomless pit, even at low volumes. The soundstage size feels like it has quintupled. There's low-frequency information in so many songs that I never knew existed.
  2. Even just stuffed in a corner uncalibrated, it's a monster. I played "The Vikings" from "Pomp and Pipes" and the windows were visibly moving. I'm talking like a quarter of an inch. Slam for days, thunderous, tight (VERY tight) and loud. It honestly seems bottomless in my room. I'm putting 400wpc of McIntosh power into my Chorus IIs and the sub is still crossing my eyes. I'll give a proper review after an afternoon of calibration. Wow.
  3. I ordered a PC-Ultra yesterday. When it arrives, it's going in a music-only system. If it's "slow" (after days of break-in and calibrating) it's going back. If it's what I'm expecting, I'll buy a second one.

So, what'cha running for an amp? ---------------- It was noticeably brighter than the Parasound CDP-1000 I replaced it with. It's the speakers that skip the CD player. It directly corresponds with loud bass peaks. The amp is a Mac MC252.
  5. I have a Sony SCD333ES, which is a complete turd. Not only does it not like playing CDs, it's bright as all hell. Did I mention that it's 10 feet from my speakers and the Choruses can still make it skip? I've been out of touch for a while, and I don't know what is good out there anymore. I'd like to spend 500-1000 for a regular two-channel player. Recommendations?
  6. After evaluating the DIY route, I just don't have the time to do it. I'm set on some manner of SVS, and I'm wondering about 2 PB2+ subs (colocated) vs a single pb2 ultra. I'm looking for maximum 25hz-40hz response for music.

Carl ---------------- I went and listened to the RSW-15, and actually got to move it around and adjust the settings. It's a nice sub, but it always seemed to lack low bass. The slam was good, but then again, I have enough of that from the CIIs. With music it made RF7s sound like my Choruses, but the bottom octave wasn't as strong as I would like. I'm looking at the SVS now.
  8. Thoughts on the McCauley v the North Creek Leviathan?
  9. Looking at the North Creek Leviathan now. I think it could kill me if it ever hit full output. A 4 cubic foot sealed box and 1000w should do the trick. I could go for a 11 cubic foot vented box also.
  10. What kind of complete sub would you build for $2500? By complete I mean amp, drivers, box and EQ/crossover. Size is not a concern. I'm looking for bass to 25hz that can match the 115-120db peaks I can get at my seat from the Chorus IIs. Obviously the far-too-overused "speed" is important, I don't want a one-note wonder. I'm currently looking at using 4 Stryke AV15s in a 10 cubic foot sealed box with a QSC RMX2450 (2400wpc 4ohm bridged) and the Rane PE-17 parametric EQ. With room gain it should do the task. Thoughts?
  11. System is comprised of a McIntosh MC452 and Chorus IIs. The room is pretty big, around 25x15 with two rooms opening onto it. It's a music only system, rock/pop mainly, very little other types. I'm looking for solid output to 30hz, as the CIIs are down ~6db in the bass below 100hz due to room placement. Luckily, even though the levels are down, they are +/- 2db to 31.5hz. Anywho, I'm looking for a punchy, musical 6db of reinforcement below 60hz. From what I've read, the RSW-15 seems to be described as a very musical sub. I've heard it a few times, but it's always set up out in the middle of a room and never calibrated right. Thoughts?

To ALL svs fans, bring it up with svs, this is a KLIPSCH website, and your submaker should have THEIR OWN website with a forum, they make enough money($$$$$$), why is KLIPSCH providing it for them, and TOMV has the balls to come on here and ACT as a MODERATOR, only one I know of appointed by KLIPSCH is STEVE P.... I have nothing against posts from people and their equipment, part of it, but when you literally rule a websites forum with someone elses product, time for a wake up call...BRAVO KLIPSCH, about friggin time.... ---------------- Yes, thanks, but if you think about it, most (if not all) of us are Klipsch owners. Furthermore, you may notice that almost no other main speaker brands are ever discussed. If Klipsch had a ~$2000 SVS Competitor, I would imagine there would be less talk of SVS. I would more than prefer to have a monster Klipsch sub to match my CIIs, but alas, barring the THX monsters, it doesn't exist. The best way for Klipsch to address the forum issue is to rectify the product issue.
  14. I have La Scalas, Chorus IIs, Forte IIs and kg3.2s yet I will buy a SVS sub. If Klipsch can change that, I will be happy to stay Klipsch.

You've been talking about it for such a long time. And considering how much you love owning the best subwoofers, I don't believe that the B4 plus doesn't interest you. What's stopping you? Just get one. Just get a PB10ISD first if you can't afford the rest right now. Wait don't tell me, you're too busy with work to order something online. I don't have money to waste on subs right now but I'm saving up for a dynaudio sub300 or a ML Depth for Christmas. ---------------- quoted for truth. I'll have a SVS ultra before ear does. ---------------- If the audio store he takes pics in doesn't carry SVS, how can he prove he "has" one?
  16. I had had my Chorus IIs at one end of a 25'x12' room and was measuring a nasty +10dB peak at 50hz. I moved them incrementally to no effect. I decided to try something drastic and pulled them out almost halfway into the room. Below are the results. Now I'm ready for the the PB2-Ultra.
  17. The comparisons there are virtually useless. No two figures can be compared directly, he used different movies and testing methods.
  18. I'm trying to justify the extra $800+ for the ultra over the plus. Has anyone *directly* compared them? It's a music only system and it gets turned to 11 from time to time, all rock. How much more undistorted output is the ultra capable of over the plus above 25hz? System uses Chorus IIs with a Mac MC252.
  19. I've got my CD player roughly 5 feet away from each Chorus II with it resting on a 6" high ATV innertube. The tube is literally huge, and yet the speakers still skip the CD player constantly. I've tried extra weight on top of it, and the rack is filled with sand and quite solid. What to do? PS turning it down isn't an option
  20. Nope, that's a huge suckout at 3' away. I was wondering about that, as well. My room is horrible, the 20hz-20k curve was nasty.
  21. I'll give you five dollars for one decent picture where we can see the whole room.
  22. For $5,000 I'd run 4 Tumults with a Crown Macro-Tech 5002VZ, 2200wpc @ 2 ohms.
  23. thoughts on this kit? 1000watt amp 15" titanic sealed enclosure http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-764 looks like a good match for Chorus IIs for $700.
