  2. I am looking to invest more money in my 2 channel system. I listen to music 99% of the time and the musical qualities of my HT (denon, rotel/acurus amps) is no where near that of my 2 channel system. I will probably get a pair of cornwalls and some tube's. and once i get my 2 channel where i want it then think about HT again. Patrick
  3. Monster makes good cable, but overpriced and you can get more for your money with other brands. If you are looking at a optical cable I suggest you check out the Wireworld glass optical cable over at audioadvisor.com The glass is a huge step up from the plastic optical cables.
  4. Getting out of HT and need to sell my Klipsch speakers. I have- KG4 Fronts KV3 Center KG1.2 Rear I am asking $750 obo for the package. I live in Western NY but would deliver to a reasonable distance from me.
  5. If I were to sell it seperatly I would sell it for around $150. The kg 1.2 would go very nicely with the 3.2 since they are the same vintage. I would prefer to sell it in a package like that though. Patrick pe3046@netscape.net
  6. The last time I helped someone put together a system there budget was about $500 and total including receiver. I worked them out a system featuring quintets (like the promedia in size except the sub is a 10) and onkyo lower end receiver. He went with cambridge soundworks first (about $900) for the whole system. After hearing them on a 30 day trial, he decided to return them and get the klipsch. But this time after hearing the system he went with a Onkyo Tx787 THX receiver and a full reference line of speakers, and could not be more happy with his setup. That being said, I love Klipsch speakers for home theater. When watching a movie with my system the dialog and voices just sound real. You are no longer just merely watching a movie, but are part of the auditory and visual stimuli envelope you. The Klipsch can soundstage like no other speaker I have ever heard coupled with the horn's make for a dynamic experience. In the price range, I did not see any other competitors that came even close to used Klipsch speakers in the price range. I think you would have to spend about 1400+ on new klipsch to get the same "size" of sound that you can get for $725 by buying used. If your budget were larger, and you are not sure you want klipsch then you can look at http://www.axiomaudio.com and build a system built around VP150 Center, M22ti Front, QS4(or which ever model you can afford) and matching stands. This will run you about $1600 without a subwoofer I think. It all depends on where you are living if you need a sub or not. I always think it is a good idea to skip the sub till you have really gotten used to hearing what the music should sound like, and then bring the sub in and work on integrating it to where it is seamless. My opinion, by used regardless of what you buy (the difference between used and new is about $700, for that price you could get a nice 5 channel amp (receivers quality of power is not the best you miss a lot of detail and emotion) like a Rotel RB-985THX 150X5 or a Acurus and then you will start to hear what your speakers can do. Check out http://www.audiogon.com I have bought almost my entire 2 systems from here. The members of the community are of the highest caliber and are honest sellers. Patrick
  7. Click on the link that says attached file. I used these in the bedroom of my apartment, and they sounded very very good. I purchased a radio shack sound meter to do all of my calibrations and drove them with either acurus or rotel multi-channel amps. I bought these instead of reference/synergy because I thought they represented the best value for the price. Am downsizing from 2 systems into 1 2 channel only. Patrick
  8. This is the only photo that I have but it does not show the rear speakers. I have 16" speaker stands for the front and 30" stands for the rear. The speakers are all about 10-15 years old. KG4 are the walnut oak finish KV3 Center Channel KG 1.2 Rear Channel Patrick
  9. I have a set of KG4 for Fronts, KV3 Center, and KG 1.2 rear if you are interested, I am getting out of HT and concentrating on 2 channel. Patrick
  10. I do have a fully rigged MIT system that consists of Denon 2801 as pre, Denon DCM as cd, and Rotel RB976 amp. All are connected through MIT digital, inter, and speaker cables. Most are Terminator 2 or 330. My speakers are Klipsch KG4, KV3, and KG 1.2. I did notice a very big difference once I wired my entire sysem with the MIT. The soundstage increased and the mid/low caught up with the horn. To me it made it much easier to listen to CDs without being fatigued. I dont currently have a viynl or tube amp but those are directions that I am looking (and then look at new choice for cable). But to me the MIT made sense when you consider how much I paid for all of my cables..about $300 and with the $360 that I paid for all of the speakers the enjoyment that I get from it was well worth the investment I made (yes I can sell them for more than what I paid for them...may help to pay for that tube amp). My recommendation is to try them from someplace such as usedcables.com as others have suggested or buy a pair for a good price from audiogon. The speaker cables did make the biggest difference though.
  11. I would really take a look at the outlaw audio 1050 ($499) or the new Onkyo receivers in this price range. Depending on how much music you listen to vs. watch tv or movies. The outlaw is a musical 6.1 receiver while the newer onkyo are also 6.1 but add dolby pro-logic II for tv use. I would also recommend if you are on a budget to look at older used klipsch speakers, such as KG3.2/KG4.2/KG5.2/KG5.5/KG4 as mains and KV3 as center and smaller kg's as rear. I was able to piece together a very nice sounding system for $400 for all 5 speakers and used the difference between buying new to buy a quality 3 channel amp they really increased the quality of the sound. While I dont have a sub, the KG4's do have a 12" passive radiator and I live in a apartment. If you really listen to music and have the ability for good placement of the speakers, then most of the time a good 2 channel stereo will sound just as good for movies (albeit without the rear effects)
  12. I have a denon 2801/rotel rb-976 amp connected via MIT T2/330 Series II ic's and am running MIT T2 speaker wire and T3 Digital Cables to my KG4/KV3/KG1.2 and would have to say that once I wired everything up with the MIT's it was night and day. The soundstage really did increase greatly, and the sound was much warmer and musical (digital sources) then when I had it wired with monster. If you are not using tubes then I would suggest you audition MIT cables or straightwire (ic's) if you get the chance. I spend around $300 for all of my cables, and greatly enjoy the money I spent for these (got them used, can resell them for what I paid or more). Some people say that cables don't make a difference, but to me with my system and my idea of "musical sound" and setup (placement of speakers goes a long way to good sound one of the most important areas) they did indeed make a positive difference.
