Life is sometimes funny... Back in 1994 I played a game on my Sega Genesis called "Snatcher". It´s a scifi story, with more than a lot of Terminator and Blade Runner feel, it was/ is a great game and that includes the soundtrack.

I knew that the OST was out there, both on CD and vinyl, but way to expensive... Two weeks ago I was lucky, or not if you ask my wallet... There was a seller in Germany and I got the double LP Mint for under 100€. So I pulled the trigger.

All in all I´m happy, and now I sit here in 2023, listening to the OST of a 1993 (digital) video game, on analog vinyl... Life is funny, isn´t it?

(Gotta pull out that game CD again...!)

  2. "Blue Thunder" on TV right now... In English - Yeah. Brings back memories, Your´s truly as a kid, first VCR, parents friend lend it to my father... One tape, "Blue Tunder" & "Night Rider". I liked Roy Scheider more, still do. Fun movie.

  3. A little OT... "Aliens" (Alien 2) just running on TV (No English... Grrrr). Just noticed again: "Combat Drop", from were the Marines prepare for the mission to when the shuttle drops from the Sulaco. The version heard in the movie is different from the one on the records. The movie one is cool, the one on LP and CD ... not so...

I was in Ghent, Belgium, the other day and of course I visited a 'used record' store. I'm always amazed about how they set their prices. One was an original Making Movies (Dire Straights) album, from the 80s, for €12, while some other 'original' album, was €35, while it was worthless music. Of course, all this is very subjective, and I didn't inspect the vinyl's quality of both albums.

Yesterday we moved the camping gear to the attic (probably to stay there for many years...), and I finally had the courage to go through all the boxes that are there since 2008, when we moved, looking for my two Rough Guides books that had been missing since 2008 and, yes, I found them! Haleluya!

The  Rough Guides, to Classical music and Jazz date from 1994 and 1995, and to some would be hopelessly dated, but I like them a lot, and especially the Jazz guide is a great source of reference for classic albums. I used them when I started collecting CDs back then, and I will enjoy reading about my present viny collection!

    PS

Some may have noticed my absence in the past weeks. This was in part due to the summer holidays. It is also due to the fact that both my mother and mother-in-law, both in their eighties, are having very serious health issues. I kept listening to music, but there was little time for anything else, while important decisions needed to be made.

  5. From next week Iĺl have three weeks vacation, finally!! Next stage of my shelve-enhancement will commence... Just a tiny step, but I´ll get there. Right now it will hold my collection of LPs. But that´s the good thing about how these shelves are constructed. I can always move them up and down or swap out individual parts and make room for further gear and stuff that might come up.

Nothing stopping you from posting an advert on Japan or USA ebay

Maybe I should, at least the better ones, like Criterions Robo Cop & Akira or my Star Wars Box for example.
