  1. the rears are supposed to be louder... move the surround volume knob around and adjust the rears to a level of your liking...
  2. the 4.1s are only slightly louder and that too in a larger room. The output per satellite on the 4.1s is also less than the 2.1s. The 4.1s dont go upto 110db, they go upto 108db as compared to 2.1s which go 106db, although the 4.1s are louder on paper but they dont give the same impression when u actually listen to them. You might find yourself cranking it up over the half way mark a lot of times while this was never needed with the 2.1s... thats just the way the 4.1s are...
  3. yes it is normal, adjust the surround volume according to how far you place the rear sats...
  4. no it is not ok to plug-in the fronts and the rears using the same output on the subwoofer, it might just ruin the amp. You can buy a y-splitter so that you split the signal from your sound card into two headphone jacks, then you can plug-in the pomedias to the y-splitter.
  5. the default settings on the soundcard are fine. If you want your system to sound better then try experimenting with the placement... it can really make a difference. Try placing the subwoofer in the corner of the room but make sure you leave some space for the woofer to breath...
  6. call klipsch or e-mail them your problem, they will refer you to the parts department, the 4.1 satellites are available for $30.00 each + shipping. 7. depends on the size of your room, if you have a small room, say 15 * 12 sq.feet then go for the 2.1s, if it is bigger than that then you should probably go for the 4.1s...
  8. alright the sad story is that i was using my 120V 4.1s in a country where the default voltage is 220V. Today they got plugged into a 220V outlet and now i am without my 4.1s, i opened up the back of the woofer only to find out that the fuse is intact... i feel like killing myself...
  9. alright, somebody with the exact same problem told me that replacing the control pod made things right for him, so i'll be trying out my friend's control pod soon, i've got my fingers crossed...
  10. try switching the wires on the back of the sound card to see if the volume shifts from the fronts to the rears. If it does, then your sound card might be at fault...
  11. yeah i have tried corner loading and it really helps to improve the bass response but unfortunately my room here at home doesn't allow me to do that. However, ill be going to my room in the hostel in a weeks time, i can't wait to hear the bass when i place the sub in the corner. btw i gave my 4.1s to a local electronics shop and they tell me that its a manufacture fault with the biasing circuitry in the sub. I hope it gets fixed because the constant whining from the satellites really annoys me...
  12. I opened and hooked up my 4.1s to my computer today, i cranked them up for about half an hour and guess what, it has actually started to sound much better. Previously i had packed up the system because it sounded really crappy. But now there is only one problem, the system has a high pitched noise from all the channels specially the front right. The sound is something like a contant "eeeeeeeeeee", this noise is coming from the tweeters only. The noise doesn't happen right when the system is turned on. It needs a good 10 minutes or so before the noise becomes loud enough to notice. Secondly, when I unplug the three other channels, the noise virtually goes away. When I plug in another channel, the noise gets a bit louder, until all three others are plugged in and it's at its loudest. I wish i was doing electronics engineering, i definately would have fixed it, but alas i am not. I am going to show the system to a local electronics store, i hope they can come up with a fix. Has anybody else ever had this problem before? One more question, the rears seem to be significantly louder than the fronts, is that normal?
  13. Well thats exactly what i saw in the satt ( 120V PM4.1 ). So you're saying that i shouldn't worry about anything inside the satt, the quality MIGHT improve if i use better cables to connect the satts to the sub?
  14. I just opened up one of my 4.1 satellites out of curiosity and found out that even though the drivers seemed to be of good quality ( 5W ) but the wire that connects the headphone jack to the wiring inside the satellite carried a very poor quality wire, maybe even worse than the stock cable. So even if i use the Monster Cable upgrade it won't make much of a difference as the cable inside the satt would reduce the quality of the signal anyway... is it true?
  15. well you can't get it fixed for free since your warranty is over. You'd be better off buying the updated control pod (CP-1) from klipsch.com for $50, it is the same control pod used for the updated 4.1s
  16. i am sure that you must have checked this out but make sure that there is no unmuted mic near your speakers...
  17. Reverse the connections on the sound card ( not the connections on the sub ) , if the problem shifts to the fronts, then you can be sure that the problem is with the sound card.
  18. The surround volume knob is used to balance the output of sound from the front and rear sats. At 12'o clock you should get equal sound from the front and the rear sats.
  19. yes, you can use your 110V SWS subwoofer in Europe using a 230V->110V step down transformer, infact i am using my 4.1s in the same manner.
