  1. How close was it? Mine is about 15 - 20 ft away.
  2. I've checked the connections on the amp. Everything is secure. Unfortunately I don't have another amp available to test with. I don't have any network gear located close to the stereo. I do have a TV mounted on the wall above the amp which I unplugged and that didn't help.
  3. The clicking sound seems to stay the same regardless of how much I turn up the volume. Both speakers. I've never touched the crossovers but they appear to be secure. The other thing I notice is that I have to turn up the volume to almost 12 o'clock to really crank these things which really surprises me considering the efficiency of the La Scalas.
  4. What kind of effect or impact can out of spec caps make on the sound?
  5. What is the likelihood that all of the parts on my 1979 AA Crossovers are still within specs? If I'm going to replace caps what are the best possible upgrades I can make to these crossovers?
  6. I have an all original pair of 1979 La Scalas that I purchased recently and just started listening to yesterday. I've discovered they are making a slight clicking or ticking sound every few seconds. I removed the source from the chain and have it isolated to either the amp (a brand new Tsakiridis Aeolos Ultra) or the speakers. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? I would connect another pair of speakers to the amp to further isolate it if I had any available.
  7. It doesn't appear to be the same fabric.
  8. Notice how the fabric was sandwiched in between the drivers and the cabinets? I think I want to remove these and hopefully I can remove the staples without doing any damage to the cabinets.
  9. I feel lucky to have been bestowed these speakers who were owned by such a great musician. They have a few blemishes that I would like to fix. Also, at some point Joel sandwiched some black fabric between the upper drivers and the cabinets and I would like to remove it. Would it be sacrilege to restore them to like new?
  10. Hi there, I need a recommendation for best bang for the buck speaker cables for my 1979 La Scalas. Someone suggested the Canare 4S11 cable from Blue Jean cables. I'm going to be using a tube amp (Tsakridis Aeolos Ultra) to drive them.
  11. Not yet. I need to pull them back out away from the wall and have a look. I need to figure out what ends to put on my speaker cables. Plus, I just got my streamer yesterday and I'm waiting for my DAC to arrive.
  12. I did find a pair locally. Can you please send me a pic of where the wires attach on the crossover? Thank you!
  13. Can someone please tell me how to connect speaker cables to my 1979 La Scalas? Actually, I'm going to order cables and was wondering if I should get spades or just use bare wire?
  14. Why the difference in weight between the original La Scala and La Scala II? Is there a difference in sound?
  15. Where do you connect the wires on a AA crossover?
  16. If they did it looks like the original owner at some point added extra pieces of plywood with plastic feet on them. Here's the bottom.
  17. I have a pair of LSBR La Scalas and one of them is missing the plastic feet. Are they available for sale somewhere?
  18. Thank you! The SVS is extremely powerful, with 1500 watts continuous and 16" driver. It's going in a large room but I won't be listening too loud. I just want the sub to be transparent and fill in the bottom octaves.
  19. I see a lot of people talking about using a horn loaded sub with the La Scalas. But I don't see any commercially available and don't want to make one. Would a sub like the SVS SB16-Ultra work well with the La Scalas?
  20. Thank you so much! Words of wisdom right there!
  21. There is quite history to these speakers as well. They were owned by the longtime bass player for Johnny Carson's band. His widow has been hanging on to them for many years.
  22. Thank you. She agreed to take $2400 for them. One of the speakers has some relatively small nicks on the front of the woofer folded horn. Right on the front edge. What would it take to make those disappear?
