  1. I got a pair of RS-7 from forum member JohnL - thanks! To my ears, the RS-7 are a perfect match for my RF-3II. I like the RS better for surrounds then my RB-5II. I am now waiting for the RC-7 I just bought off eBay to replace my RC-3.
  2. I'll pass on the RS-35s - I am getting either RS-7 or RS-3II.
  3. I might be interested in 2 RS-35s. I will be looking at a pair of RS-7, but if I don't buy them, I will get your RS-35.
  4. I am looking for a pair of black RS-7 - if anyone has for sale, or knows where to buy, please let me know Edit: I will also settle for RS-3
  5. I am interested in your RS-7s, I sent you a PM as well.

    Deal on subs

I got the Velodyne SPL 800 II for $380. I installed it last night and I am very pleased with it. I owned in the past an RSW-10, but I sold it for several reasons, and one of them was size. While the SPL 800 II does not go very low either (28Hz), I must say that I am very impressed with its output and its size - it is sooo small. I live in a small 400 sqft studio apartment, and the SPL fills it with bass. I calibrated it, and the volume is only at 1/3, so it has even more potential. I connected it to the sub out of my receiver and used a Y splitter in order to be able to use the "auto on" feature - the sub turns on when it detects signal. I set the LFE High Cut in the receiver to 80Hz, and on the sub I enabled the internal low pass crossover and set it to 120Hz. This was recommended in the manual - "to have a steeper ultimate cross over slope, you can use both the processor's cross over and the sub internal cross over. You should stagger the frequencies for best results, i.e. 120Hz sub, 80 Hz processor." I am not sure how exaclty this works, so if someone can explain ... Also am I not loosing information in this way by setting the LFE high cut to 80 in the processor? I read at dolby.com - "Low frequency effects channel, dedicated to frequencies from 3 to 120 Hz". Should I use subwofer direct instead?
  7. RS-35: 81-20kHz +/- 3dB --> this is exactly why I don't want the RS-35, their frequency response is a whole 20Hz above that of RS-3 II.
  8. I still need a pair. Anywone?

    Deal on subs

Thanks for the advise! I didn't notice anything wrong with the SPL, I listened to it, and it sounds fine, so I think I am getting it. Can't buy warranty since they are going out of business, however it caries Velodyne's 2 year warranty.
  10. I went to Good Guys yesterday for their closing out sale, and I looked at two subs: Velodyne SPL 800 II and Klipsch RSW-10 The RSW-10 did not power up, but they were willing to let it go for a dirt cheap price of $299. The Velodyne SPL 800 II us in great working order for $380. Now my debate is which to get? If I get the RSW-10, I will have to send it in for repairs, while the SPL is working. According to the specs, the RSW-10 goes down to 29Hz, and the SPL 800 to 28Hz. My listening space is small: 10' x 12', and my signature shows what else I have. Your opinions will be appreciated!
  11. I am looking to purchase a pair of RS-3 II, possibly from a forum member. I searched eBay, but currently there are only a few RS-35. (edit) I am looking for black color.
  12. Have you sold it yet? If not, I am interested.
  13. The problem is that they have scratches and are not in an excellent cosmetic condition. I would rate them 7.5 out of 10 cosmetically.
  14. I would like to re-finish my RB-5II from cherry to black - all my other speakers are black. What is the best way to do this? What materials and tools do I need? Please help me with advise and share similar experience.
  15. Which Yamaha receiver do you currently have? Will you be selling it once you upgrade?
  16. I had the same dilema about 1.5 years ago when I was building my HTPC. After researchig well, here are the components I chose. It was a very good system then. I can post pictures later on tonight. Hope this will help in selecting your components. * Aluminum case (wide so there is more room) with quite 120mm exhaust fan at rear, and one 80mm intake fan in front. Both fans are adjustible speed. I modified the case so it "breathes" more, you will see on pictures. * 450 W Antec power supply. I replaced the 2 fans with adjustible fans. * Motherboard - Intel D850EMV2L * CPU - 2.4B Intel Pentium 4, 533MHz bus. CPU is very cool running, installed large heatsink with adjustable fan. * RAM - 512MB Mushkin PC1066 RAMBUS, 533MHz * Video - GeForce 4 Ti 4800, TV out. * Gaming - 3D Stereo glasses, Logitech Force Wheel, Logitech Wireless Gamepad, Microsoft Force Joystick * TV - Hauppage WinTV Go with FM radio * Sound - Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, SPDIF digital pass thru * HDD - 60GB Seagate Barracuda IV, two of these. The quitest drives at the time. * DVD ROM - Panasonic DVD115 * CD-RW - Yamaha 24X * FireWire card + 4 USB ports card * BlueTooth - Belkin USB adapter * LAN - on board * CanoScan slim scanner * HP 932C Printer * IBM Net Camera Pro * Labtec Microphone * Logitech Wireless Freedom mouse and keyboard * Windows XP Professional I run S-Video cable to my TV, and an RCA digital cable to the receiver. For video I use Power DVD. For music I use Media Player 10. Vladi

    DVD issue

You might have heat problems, that is the DVD player is getting too hot. How is your equipment arranged?
  18. Currently you have placed the surrounds more like rear surrounds. How high is the woodburning stove? Can you mount the LS above it and the RS on the oposite wall? Can you do something like this: ---------------------/ \_LS_/ / LF / /---/ / / c / / / o / / / u / TV/C / / c / / / h / / /---/ / RF / / / / / / / /_RS_\ / ---------------------/ The RS will be further, but you can use the balance to compensate. Other than this, I read on this board that someone created a wedge from wood to mount their RS speakers on the wall: Wall /________ / wedge / / / / / / / / / / / / / // You take off the metal bracket from the back of the RS and mount it to the back side of the wedge, then you mount (somehow) the speaker to the front of the wood wedge. This way you can use the same nails/screws that are already in the wall, and the speakers will be tilted forward. Hope this helps. Vladi
  19. I use RB-5II for my surrounds and I like their sound very much.
  20. Based on the drawing, you can use speaker stands on the sides of your couch.

  22. I have a complete tear of the ACL in my right knee, and some tear of the PCL, meniscus, and lateral ligament. Left knee will heel by it self, but the right needs surgery. I am going to have it done in beginning of January.
  23. I haven't posted to the board for a long time. I had a skiing accident and injured both my knees - torn ACL on one, and torn meniscus on the other - and it is painful to sit infront of the PC... I have for sale a multi-channel 5-disk SACD player - Sony SCD-C555ES. I am asking for 300 or best offer. Anyone interested here on the board?
