  1. I usually listen to my speaks around 1 watt. (too cheap to buy SPL meter, but I can read the wattage meter on the front of my amp ) Sometimes I take it up to around 5 watts, and once I took it to about 7 or 8, that was loud as hell. ouchy. I guess technically my speaks at one watt are 98db at one meter, then again thats in an anechoic room. So im really not sure how many dbs im pushing. oh well. Im happy!
  2. Man I think its kindof cruel to leave your amp on all day. I dont even leave mine plugged in all day(Turn of my power strip). Although sometimes I do warm up my components for an hour or two.
  3. ""You like Klipsch so much because they are LOUD,and can disturb the hood. LOL" lol!" LOL! Who dosent like to disturb their hood?, I know I do! Hope your enjoying your RF-5s, my 3s are sounding better everyday. Need to talk on aim sometime, Maybe tonight. I'll get back from karate around 9. Maybe we can talk then.
  4. Ooohh! Sinewave! Im thinking Metallica S&M Hero of the Day. OF course thatwould probably get really really old. I should take Massive Tone by Cruisen, Im sure that wouldnt get old!
  5. Well, ya finally got me beat with your RF-5s. Congrats. They are some nice speaks. I love my 3s. I cant believe you got em in black though, cherry is so much prettier. Betcha cant wait to turn em up. I took my RF-3s up to 6 watts today! It was really loud. Oh yeah, and do you now believe that speakers break in? I mean I noticed a huge difference after two weeks, especially in the speed of the bass. Ill talk to you on aim sometime. Maybe sunday. Kindof busy now. HOpe you enjoy em!
  6. Sweetness. RF-5s tomorrow. I know the feeling. Hope they work out great.
  7. Im sure alot of you reading this did or will recieve one also. Apparently the letter goes out to all the 400 entrees in the Story Teller Contest. Came with 2 bumper stickers Very spiffy. I didnt win any speaks, but I didnt have to pay anything either. Call me easily bought, but im happy!
  8. That would own man. Hope you can get em!
  9. Yup. Alot of good points. I like my windows. Cheaper, mroe upgradeable, but they are unstable.
  10. Thanks for the info. I feel I have a firm grasp of it now. You really know your stuff man. Thanks for your time.
  11. Cheap Copier and Paster! Ok the helps some. thanks trevor. Only thing I dont get is how the hell a 2000 watt anp is 8 times louder than a 20 watt amp. That only like 3 times louder technically. Thanks for the input though.
  12. Ok, Im kindof baffled by this one and maybe someone can set me strait. First of all as I understand it, the decibel scale is logarithmic, and doubles in volume every 10 db. At least in human preception. Also I understand that when comparing loudspeaker sensitivites, or maximum acoustical output that the scale doubles in volume every 3 decibels. For example, a loudspeaker with a sensitivity of 98 db is twice as loud as one with a sensitivity of 95 db. Now by definition sensitivity is the SPL output measured at one meter from the loudspeaker powered by one watt. Henceforth, shouldn't a 100db sensitivity loudspeaker be twice as loud as a 90 db sensitivity loudpeaker? (at 1 watt). Whats with this 3db business? Is that an average of all posiible other wattages or something? Im kindof confussed. I may have overstated the question, maybe trevor can simlify it for me. Feel free man. I have a tendacy to over complicate things. Thanks.
  13. Oops, I wasnt really awake at the time. I was kindof sick to. Engeener. lol. FOr the record: Engineer.
  14. damn eleven thousand post. damn. You could check "careers" under "help center" That would be pretty sweet to work at Klipsch. I hope to have a job in this field eventually. Im 16 now, and am planning on a ms dual degree in electrical engineering and audio engineering at Georgia Tech. That should be a good starting place, maybe get more advanced from there. I love this stuff. Im reading the "master handbook of acoustics" right now and I find this stuff fasinating. HOpe you can get a career with Klipsch though, that would be sweet.
  15. Ok first floorstanders are nice for surrounds, but even with I dont think 2 pair of rf-3s is worth the jump from rsw-15 to ksw-15. They are lightyears apart. So id stick with the RSW and use normal surrounds. Those prices look very very good to me. Last week I payed $800 for my Rf-3s, I love them sooooo much. SVS are good for low down stuff, but i dont think you will have any complaints with the rsw-15. I mean 19 hz is pretty low. Unless you watch U571 24/7. That is a kick *** system especially at that price. I wouldnt change a thing. Enjoy!
  16. Ive decided out of fairness that my vote actually counts as 100. its only fair. I cant think of a reason right now, but I assure you its a good one. So that brings the total too.. Yay Nay 10 105 Well looks like a Nay landslide. Look out Klipsch!!!!!!
  17. Consider the polls closed. After several recounts to appease jt1stcav the final count comes to: Yay Nay 10 6 Looks like Yay takes it, but not without some opposition. Thank you all for participating.
  18. Well, as the polls prepare to close I must vote. I heard alot of good points in this poll, but my vote stands unwavered. After consideration, I must stick with my first impressions, I really dont like the look of the front baffle. I still need to see them in person, but for now my vote is Nay.
  19. That is a nice sax. quite spiffy lookin. Still enjoying me lead until your rf-5s arrive Just listened to all 27 tracks of the #1 beatles CD. lol. Good stuff.

  21. my Rf-3 serial numbers are 4 digits apart. Holding up great and sounding better than ever.
  22. ah yes the horn loaded sub. mwahahahhahahahahhahahaha
  23. Ouchy. Thats some pretty tight conditions. Well, sounds like the areas for holding the speaks are wider than the are tall. HMMM. Looks like what you might want to do it to place the speaks sideways. If you do go with Klipsch, This can be done easily by taking out the horn and rotating it 90 degrees. Several people on the forum have done this before and according to the Klipsch forum moderators, this wil not void the waranty. Right now it looks like rb-5IIs would be the best. BUt as tripod said you could wait or the new bookshelves to come out (with front firing ports). You could possibly use RB-35s, or maybe even rb-75s, but $1200 for a pair of mains is probably out of your pricerange. If you would settle for a 2.1 system (2 mains and a sub), at least for now, you could really have a superior music system. I mean for $2500, you could get a hell of a set up. Prehaps a pair of RB-75s, A RSW-10 or 12, a high quality Pre/Power amp combo, and a nice cd player. But if your heart is set on 5.1, you'll have to step down your mains to rb-35s, or 25s, your sub to RSW-10 or RW-12, You'll have to purchase a musically inferior reciever, A DVD-player, not to mention 3 more speaks for surround sound. Prehaps a RC-25 and RS-25s. That still is a hell of a home theatre, and not to shabby with music. You probably will go for the 5.1 system, so heres how id tackle it: Mains: RB-35 ($600) (on their sides) Center: RC-25 ($280) Surrounds: RS-25 ($400) Sub: RW-12 ($650) Reciever: Pioneer VSX-D811s ($300) DVD Player:Pioneer DV-656A ($170) Leaving a cool $100 bucks to spend on cables. I like pioneer stuff, but there are plenty of good companies out there, like Denon, and Harman Kardon and pleny more. I kindof cheaped out on the components, put too much towards speaks. Its flexable. Whatever you like. You could also save yourself a coool hundred bucks by using RB-15s instead of RS-25s. I still say a music system would be better. But whatever floats your boat. And for anyone who is about to chastise me on my choice of reciever and dvd-player, just let me say that I realize it is a bit of a mismatch, and if youve got a better plan please mention it, but dont tear me to peices. Good luck!
  24. ProDJs got a point. RSW-15 owns the other subs here. Its not even a competition. I want one . I do love my RF-3s though.
