  1. Thank you for the quick reply. I reached out to the seller.
  2. Hello, There is a set of these for sale close enough to grab. $150 for the set. They would be way more amp than needed for my La Scalas. Any inference into the possibility of them sounding good or being worth it for parts to build monoblocks for 2 channel is much appreciated. MFG's website is one of the few sources of info on these. Your Parasound HCA-1201A High Current Mono-Block Power Amplifier was built using only the finest precision components available for optimum musical quality and performance. The HCA-1201A High Current Power Amplifier has a 280 VA toroidal power transformer and 20,000 uF of filter capacitance to provide the high levels of power needed for some of todays more sophisticated speaker systems. The inherently low output impedance of the HCA-1201A easily maintains control of your loudspeakers even during demanding impedance variations.Unique circuit topology of the direct coupled HCA-1201A includes balanced JFET input transistors, bipolar drivers and ultra high current output devices. Additionally, there are no inductors or capacitors in the signal path. These design refinements reduce high odd-order harmonic distortion, improve overall clarity and preserve low-level musical details FEATURES THX Ultra certified by Lucasfilm Ltd. 280 VA power transformer, 20,000 uF filter capacitance Massive toroid power transformer Multiple polystyrene film bypass capacitors in power supply Can be powered with external DC source Cascode Class A input stages with matched J-FET pairs Complementary transistors in high voltage driver stage 12 ampere 50 MHz output transistors Output transistors direct-coupled to speakers without LRC networks Direct-coupled audio circuits with 0.8 Hz rolloff High-bias Class A/AB operation Gold-plated RCA input jacks Multiple protection circuits Glass epoxy circuit boards, double-sided for precision Audiophile-grade AC power cord SPECIFICATIONS Continuous Power Output: 150 watts RMS, 20 Hz-20 kHz 8 Ω 240 watts RMS, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 4 Ω Current Capacity: 36 Amps peak Slew Rate: > 130 V/microsecond Power Bandwidth: 5 Hz-100 kHz, +0/-3 dB at 1 watt Total Harmonic Distortion: < 0.03 % at full power < 0.01 % typical levels IM Distortion: < 0.03 % TIM: Unmeasureable Dynamic Headroom: > 1.5 dB Input Impedance: 33 k Ω Input Sensitivity: 1 V for 28.28 V; THX Reference Level; 1.2 V for full output S/N Ratio: > 120 dB full power > 96 dB THX reference level Damping Factor: > 800 at 20 Hz Dimensions: 6 1/4" wide x 5 1/2" high x 16" deep Power Requirements: 110 Vac-120 Vac 360 Watts Net Weight:
  3. That is for both of them. I am able to solder and have built guitar pedals from kits but I am no circuit designer. Side note we had a "Tropical Hotdog Night" Themed NYE party this year complete with a tropical Hotdog bar.
  4. That's what I am afraid of. If the speakers in the store are not as sensitive as the La Scala I could be listening to something worlds apart right?
  5. The finish sure does. I am having no luck getting the image up. I will try again.
  6. Hello, Considering buying a set of blocks to pair with my La Scalas and horn sub. I will also need a pre-amp as I only have a Sansui G-3500. Question is would you expect these to have much fidelity? What should I look for in the way of a pre-amp? Asking price is $600. 45 minutes from the house. I listen to the full gambit of music at low and moderate volumes in a 13 x 23'9" 7'4" room. Speakers are 7' into the room and my chair is also 7' out. I am falling in love with the deep image behind the speakers. My goal is to get that as good as I can within reason. I appreciate any and all criticism and guidance. Thank you for your time.
  7. Ok so this is what I need? https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4?lang=en&gclid=CjwKCAiA6Y2QBhAtEiwAGHybPXaqt9MKp4YLoehCG4jSlRn1rIajiQjfzptXJh5zeASXfUzsIBzhAxoC-tcQAvD_BwE Thanks man. I needed another rabbit hole to fall down lol.
  8. I will have to look into this. Not sure if the amp I have is capable of that or does it require something else in the signal chain?
  9. Well it all works. Passes the Exodus test well and I am happy. Using a Dayton SA1000 to power it. Definitely overpowered for the job but I wanted lots of clean headroom. Thanks guys
  10. Could something like this be used instead of a plate amp? https://www.amazon.com/OSD-Audio-Mono-Channel-Subwoofer-Amplifier/dp/B07F94FSLF
  11. There is a Phase Linear 4000 Autocorrelation Preamplifier bearish to me for $500. Recently serviced. It looks to have plenty of IO. The unit is big and classy looking. Could this fit the bill or would something made this century work better? Thank you,
  12. I want to see a picture with them off. I want to see the wood horns even if they are painted/coated black.
  13. Hello, Looking for help with getting more out of my new to me system. Current signal chain is SL-1200mk2 w/Shure M44G(needle nearly kaput) running into the phono on a Sansui G-3500 and out to La Scala. Tomorrow I go to pick up a home build CV based 3x3x2 18" folded horn sub. Questions I have are related to equipment upgrades and replacements. The La Scala are the only piece of this mess I sought out intentionally. The receiver was $20 buck tack on at a deal I made on a chair and the SL was $300 when I bought the La Scalas. I don't know what to do from here. My understanding of streaming HIFI and it's components gets more muddy as I read. Would a Phono Stage and a different cartridge be a logical next step? If so is there a Phono Stage around the 1k mark that will play nice with tube and solidstate amps as well as DACs and turntables? That would leave around $700 in my self imposed budget for a cartridge or something else. Thank you, Greg
  14. Howdy. Just so happens I found these on craigslist last night and ran across this post today. Wish I would have seen these before buying my La Scala last weekend. What part of the horn(s) is wood? Here is the link. North of Detroit. 3k https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/ele/d/saint-clair-shores-klipsch-wood-horn/7440938104.html

  16. Right on. Probably best to be safe with the $20 converter to the RCA. I should have the converter nearest the sub/amp for best signal transmission correct? Thank you,
  17. I found this video from PS audio. He suggests jumpering the sub from the speakers into the high input. If I bought the amp I could first measure the Ohms when in high input mode. Maybe I could check the Ohms on the high level input first to tell me if I need to add the converter.
  18. Thank you. I now also realize the amp has a hi input switch. I could use speaker cable with a 1/4" TS end to get signal in. If it distorts I could use the converter you posted. Do I need to run both left and right channels from my B set out in either situation?
  19. Having a difficult time figuring out how to feed signal and power this thing. My receiver is a vintage Sansui g-3500. No preamp outs. I have the outs for the B set of speakers. Not sure how I would connect to something like this. https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-SPA500DSP-500W-Subwoofer-Plate-Amplifier-with-DSP-300-8012 Any input or direction is appreciated.
  20. I understand that stance completely. I think I will get a few more reps in before I go for a substantial upgrade like that bronze. It has been 14 years since my last table and I would hate to damage something like that. Certainly will need a decoy when friends come over!
  21. As far as placement can I put the sub on a 4 wheel dolly to demo and move or will that ruin the sound? Thank you
  22. Yes I did. I have been messaging with the seller. Nice guy. Now I just need an amp that can supply enough juice and a way to split the signals out of my receiver. Thanks man
  23. Oh right on man. I am definitely going check it out. I have a fever (testing negative for Covid). I was trying to see it in a day or two.
  24. Well shoot. Guess I should not have put this up here. I am at home with a fever.
  25. The guy is going to put some Zeppelin and Parliament Funkadelic through it for me and give an opinion. Told him cross would be in the 80-100 range.
