  1. lol, to be honest i think what bose does is kinda cool. granted it sounds like crap, but i think it's cool how they use fake sounds to make something very close to the real thing. we've got both bose and klipsch PA systems at my church. yes the klipsch is way better, but the bose is fun to try an break...crank up them bose without the special pre-amp thing and they sound really funny it's cool to note u get the same sound when u use the pre-amp with the klipsch speakers. i don't know how it all works, but it's kinda cool to see what they're tryin to do. (btw, the speakers im using are like 10 years old...i've never had the chance to try out the newer pro-audio gunk from either company)
  2. hmmm, i think one might be enough for a small bathroom...depends how much bass ya want
  3. dude, don't settle with the hiss. it can be fixed, you just have to do some troubleshooting. i really suggest you try the ground lift. you've spent all that money on awesome speakers, u don't deserve to suffer a hiss oh btw, turnin down the high end makes sense that it reduces the hiss, but at the same time u are turning down all of ur high end...i can't picture it sounding that good? anyways, good luck yo!
  4. ya it's a waiste, i spent lots of hours searching the internet for all the car audio garbage available and I was very depressed...the best speakers (by their rating) were 4 speakers by kenwood costing only $55! they're rated at 96 db @ 1w/1m and can handle 130watts total that's plenty loud for a car i just recently installed them in my car, and i was actually surprised how good they sounded. granted, they're nothin like klipsch, but wat's the use of 'quality' in a car system? there's so much other ambient noise from ur car, traffic, etc, that there really isn't much use to trying to get something that sounds good. funny thing is this...i had to build cabinets for all my speakers (6" rears and 4" fronts) cause my old speakers were like 2" fronts and 1x9" rears...i was too lazy to do it myself, so i went to tweeter to have some custom made...it cost me $100!!! twice as much as the speakers...now that's lame. i bought a new reciever too, having only radio sucked really bad...so i prob made a mistake and went with sony...but they advertised fully custimizable passovers and all that, but after installin everything i don't get any low end outta my nice speakers (the 6" rears go down to 60hz), but they're cut out at like 110hz oh well...the powered sub in the same line costs $1,500. which is prob why the speakers were so cheap (cause ppl only buy subs nowadays). i tried my old radio only reciever and besides the radio noise, they sound way better than this sony garbage cause it actually doesn't filter out my low end i thought about using the klipsch in cieling speakers as well, but they're rated at like 8ohms, and the most powerful car amp i found was rated for 4 ohms...i know u can get away with unmatched ohm ratings, but its not worth spending a $1,000 on amps (that will prob suck anyway). so now im looking for some kind of "sub" to put under my chairs. bass in the trunk is so stupid and noisy, but i think small 4"? subs firing out the front and back underneath every seat would be way cool. any1 know of any low response speakers that are small? response is more important than volume, cause i'll be runnin 4 of em ok im done, conclusion...car audio sucks
  5. personally, i like to take brand new speakers and crank them to the point i think i'll blow them just to see what they can handle...and if they break there's always those cool warranties as far as breaking in, it's more of getting the listener acquainted with the new sounds. once i get a feel for the range of the speakers, i then tone it down to normal levels and start a never ending process to get everything where i never have to touch it again. now that i think about it...i do the same with my car 8D ------------------ -if it's not broken, fix it anyway-
  6. (btw, i got an audigy as well) if ur trying to use the digital out you have to tell the sound card u are using it. if ur using the analog outputs, u have to tell the soundcard ur using analog. i don't know what the default is, but here's how ya check it: double click ur volume icon in the taskbar (the little speaker) under options, make sure advance controls is selected (there will be a check mark) if it's selected, there will be an "Advanced" button on the bottom left. click it and check the box labeled "Digital Output Only" to the correct setting (checked for digital, and unchecked for analog) i had the same problem until after click millions of buttons i found that check mark...i hope it helps any! ------------------ -if it's not broken, fix it anyway-
  7. or how bout a custom built 36inch sub don't believe they exist? go to disney world or how bout a wall full of 8 inch subs, built for massive frequency response (like 100 8 inch subs...running only 25 watts in each is like a 2500 watt system) why stop there? why not have an entire house where the walls/floors/cielings are coated with em? that'd go well with a nice new cheese slicer ------------------ -if it's not broken, fix it anyway-
  8. hmmm, u haven't mentioned anything about buying speakers...could that be your problem? ------------------ -if it's not broken, fix it anyway-
  9. right, i've been mixing for 10 years now and i've never heard of investing money into speaker cables. all a cable does is allow those cool little electrons to "flow" through it to create that cool magnetic field that pushes ur speaker thing. (ya, there's more invloved, but that's the basic concept) i can't remember exactly which law it was, but here's the concept of resistance...it increases proportionatly to it's length and decreases proportionatly to it's width...u want overkill? buy a 1ft in diameter cable made outta gold. or you could just design a practical super conducter and have no 'interference' with ur cables. i've learned one thing along my travels of mixing and it's this: the purpose of all this audio stuff is to get rid of the bad stuff...u can't create anything good, but u can eliminate the bad. so unless ur amps/speakers/recievers/imputs/studio/etc etc... are all perfect, investing lots of money into cables when u could invest it in better speakers sounds stupid to me (get the pun? sounds stupid...ok it was lame) then again, i've only been mixin for 10 years. perhaps i might learn something new think im nuts? prove it to urself...buy a million dollar cable (im sure u could find one) and then buy cable from ur hardware store and then buy a midrange cable (watever that is) and have a friend switch the cables for u and u have to tell him which one was which. note: b4 u buy the stuff, make sure ur allowed to return it...no need to waiste a million bucks on an experiment (unless it's not ur million) i think some of y'all might be surprised at the results y'all will get
