  1. Tom, Try simply speakers in Florida. They have a website that lists quite a few diaphrams. It is where I sent my tweeters in for repair.
  2. Well - I am having the diaphrams replaced. Just wondering if there are any other alternatives. Do these things last a lifetime?
  3. Hi, Thanks for the replies. Where do you get a CP25? How much do they cost? - WOuld you say it is an upgrade from the stock Belle tweeter? - Do you have to do anything to the crossover to use it. Thanks in advance!
  4. I find it strange that if you look at Speaker outlets such as Parts express that they sell scads of Tweeter horns from $10-$50 a piece. Yet when you try to buy a pair of tweeters for Klipsch Belle, La Scala, KHorn they don't have them and they offer a substitute for $200. Does anyone know why this nitch is not being filled?
  5. Thanks, - You were right. I never thought of looking on the bottom. I unscrewed the panel and there was the woofer! As far as the crossover goes it says Type AB. Do you think I should mess with this type? - Is there anything I can do with it short of replacing the whole crossover? I am currently awaiting the tweeters that I sent in to be fixed (new diaphrams).
  6. I have recently aquired a pair of Klipsch Belles made in 1987. The tweeter and Midrange are very easy to get at, becuase the top of the back is open. The woofer however is behind a panel with no screws at all. I would like to clean out this area andinspect the drivers for damage. The panels appear to have about 8 holes, the size of a small nail in a semi circle along the top and bottom. Not sure what these are for, but there are no screws whatsoever to remove the panels. Does anyone know of the proper way to remove this panel, or get at the woofer in another way?
  7. HDBR, The original point of this thread was as follows. ________________________________________________________________ I have been the proud owner of a pair of Klipsch Fortes (oiled oak)for over 12 years now... I have used Formby's Lemon Oil all that time, but am wondering if there is a better choice; something to give them more lustre? ________________________________________________________________ So, the poster was looking for something to give them more lustre. That is why is suggested tung oil. The poster did not specify that he wanted to duplicate the original finish.
  8. Ok HDBR,- you are probably correct. But I sure like the Tung Oil Finish. - But, I do have a question. What kind of oil is a traditional oil finish? And which do you prefer? It seems that whatever was on the belles originally has worn out also. It is very dull, lifeless and dried out. The only thing that I tried that couold bring it back to life was 100% tung oil. I don't know if tung oil is traditional or not, but I have used it with great results on many wood projects. And I have got to believe it is traditional for some folks in some parts of the world.
  9. Well, I have just purchased a pair of Klipsch Belles. They have beautiful cabinets in perfect shape. Corners and edges very sharpe. But the finish in old, dry and dull. Needed some lustre. I got some Watco rejunvinating oil and it did little to bring out the magic of the oak veneer. So I went back to my tried and true 100% tung oil. Coated it 3 times, 0000 steel wool in between and the magic is back. Don't forget to keep the steel wool fragments from the drivers magnets. Cleanup and careful sanding is important. Make sure the coat of tung oil is completely dry before sanding and re-applying the next coat.
  10. I just purchased a pair of Klipsh Belle's - Cabinets in very good condition and tweeters shot. I have called and left messages for Klipsch Support people and E-mailed their Parts, Tech Support and Sales Staff about information in getting these tweeters replaced. I have not heard from them ever. I sent an e-mail requesting some sales information 2 weeks ago and I might as well have been trying to contact the Chairman of General Motors. To make a long story short, I placed a call today to Simply Speakers, their tech guy called me back the same day. I have just shipped off my tweeters to them also today. When Klipsch finally gets back to me (if ever) - I'll probably have these things up and running for about 1/3 the price that Klipsch would have charged me. So far I am not impressed with Sales and Support from Klipsch! Maybe they're just closed this month and I'm overreacting.
  11. Randy, I had no trouble finding the Minnesota Orchrestra Showcase at Amazon.Com - Got it for $8.99 plus a couple bucks shipping. I have 1 of my Billies completed and should get the Belles this week. Best,
  12. Randy, The Billie's are just getting started. Heated up the soldering iron today for the first time since I got them. It's slow going, because they change parts on these often, and the documentation does not get updated. I will get my Belle's next week probably Tues or Wed. - You know I did this after hearing your K-Horns! I did like the 'large' sound. I am missing that with stand mounts. I would have went for the K-Horns, but I just don't have the proper corners. Hopefully the Belle's will provide me with a lot of the K-Horn experience. Yes, AVA does require payment in advance, but I know Frank has lent out gear to Minneapolis/St. Paul Residents for a few days (including myself). Send him an e-mail telling him that you heard my T7 for an hour and that you would like to hear a loaner for a couple days. He may give you one!
  13. I'm not letting my T7 go for a whole month, but you can order one from AVA and keep it for a month. You can return it for a full refund if you want. I may be able to come over for a few hours with my T7 again sometime. BTW - What was that Classical CD title and track that we listening to with the T7 - I think it was the Minnesota Orchestra.
  14. I'm building the "Billie's". I just heard a pair of Khorn's over at Randy Bey's and liked what I heard, however I don't have the right corners for the Big guys. So I am interested in hearing the La Scala or Belle or Cornwalls. Hope all these smiley faces help!
  15. I live in the Minneapolis area and am building a pair of SET Monblocks. I am interested in hearing the La Scalas or Belle speakers. Is there anyone in this forum who would be interested in giving me a demo? I will also be in the Chicago/ Milwaukee area on Saturday the 19th of October. Thanks
